Marvel Legends 2016 4″ Wave 3! Rogue! Quasar! Morbius!

There’s likely to be a little less Marvel Toy News this week than usual, as merchandisers (and collectors!) are temporarily distracted by the impending release of some big movie (apparently, there’s been an awakening). Even so, Hasbro hasn’t forgotten their Marvel Legends fans, and they’re planning to unveil a different 3 3/4″ Marvel Legends 2016 Wave 3 figure every day this week! And on the four days of Force Awakens-mas, Hasbro given to us: Marvel Legends Quasar, Hydro-Man, Morbius and Mohawk Rogue!

Marvel Legends 2016 Quasar Wave 3 Figure

UPDATE 12/18/2015:BOOM!!! That’s the sound of my mind being officially blown! Hasbro has just announced the final figure in this series of 4″ Marvel Legends 2016 figures, and it is in fact cosmic superhero Wendell Vaughn: QUASAR!

While I’m partial to Quasar’s classic costume with the crazy stars inside of his cape, the Annihilation Quasar modern design is also a great interpretation of the character. And honestly, I’m just glad to finally get an action figure of a character that hasn’t even ever gotten a Minimates figure from Diamond Select Toys!

Marvel Legends 2016 4 Inch Wave 3 Rogue FigureUPDATE 12/17/2015: As anticipated, the third day of reveals has brought us the classic 80’s Rogue  costume!

While unfortunately I can’t go so far as to say that this is the first time that any company has ever released this iteration of Rogue (Diamond Select Toys released her as part of Marvel Minimates Series 47 in 2012 as part of a two-pack with Colossus), this is at least the first “realistic”-styled version of Rogue in this costume.

I can already see that this Marvel Legends 4″ Rogue figure is going to be sporting a floppy belt that’s going to make my OCD go off the charts, but at least she’s also got double-dointed knees and ankle-rockers!

Marvel Legends Morbius 4 Inch Figure RevealedUPDATE 12/16/2015: As just about everyone in the free world had guessed, Hasbro has now revealed the second figure from this lineup to be the first-ever 4″ scale figure of Morbius, the Living Vampire! Poor Morbius’ solo comic book series last year was a complete and utter flop, but at least Hasbro is going to be giving him some love in 2016 with both a new 6″ Marvel Legends Morbius action figure and this four-inch version!

Marvel Legends Hydro-Man Figure 4 Inch 2016ORIGINAL STORY: I really, truly, legitimately thought that there was a genuine chance that toy companies would forgo talking about any property that didn’t have the words “Star” and “Wars” in it this week. But apparently, Hasbro had other ideas, because they’re going to be unveiling four all-new 2016 Marvel Legends 3 3/4″ figures this week!

It’s been a while since Hasbro made a real push for the 4″ Marvel Universe scale figures like this, so I’m glad to see that they’re redoubling their efforts and giving small-scale collectors a bit of the spotlight!

Marvel Legends 2016 4 Inch Wave 3 Silhouettes

Hasbro began the week by showing off a mysterious image with four silhouettes on it that belonged to characters in the 2016 Marvel Legends Wave 3 4″ series. While the character all the way on the right is obviously a new 4″ Morbius figure (a nice companion for the 6″ Morbius in the first Spider-Man Legends series of the year!), the other three outlines were a bit harder to decipher.

The second from the left figure is most likely a modern Dracula figure, but personally I hope that it’s Quasar–poor Quasar is long, long overdue for some action figure love!

Meanwhile, while Hasbro may be baiting us to believe that the mohawked character is a new Legends Mohawk Storm, that silhouette looks suspiciously like a 1980s Rogue to me! That seems like a bit of an odd costume choice to mine for a Rogue figure (especially when we still don’t have a Marvel Universe Rogue in Jim Lee costume), I think that Mohawk Rogue is the most feasible character that that silhouette would belong to. We’ll know later this week!

Marvel Legends Quasar Rogue Hydro-Man Morbius 2016 HasbroOf course, the first figure actually revealed from this lineup is none other than Hydro-Man! It looks like he’s a standard figure with an effects piece water base (which looks downright awesome) that his lower body can slide into. I would have preferred if Hasbro had selected Hydro-Man’s classic “thug” look with T-Shirt and jeans personally, but his modern costumed look isn’t bad either.

I’ll post updates here and to the Marvel Toy News Facebook and Twitter Pages throughout the week as Hasbro continues revealing the figures in this wave, so be sure to check back here and on our social media pages for more details.

What are your thoughts on this Marvel Legends 2016 Wave 3 assortment, Marvel collectors? Are you excited to see some pretty obscure characters and looks represented here, or is Hasbro getting too niche for your tastes?

Marvel Legends 2016 4″ Wave 3! Rogue! Quasar! Morbius! — 22 Comments

  1. Oh.
    Marvel Universe.
    Call these Marvel Universe.
Don’t call them 4″ Marvel Legends.

    That was disappointing….

    • Unfortunately, Hasbro has rebranded this line as “Marvel Legends” for 2016, so that’s what I have to call it. It’s not Marvel Legends or Marvel Infinite Series anymore: this line -is- 4″ Marvel Legends now.

      • Call it “Marvel Infinite “Legends”” and be really patronizing about it until they change it back.

    • Yeah, I agree, i was super disappointed to hear Hasbro has decided to brand both scales as Legends. It makes searching for the toys harder, and is just lazy. I hated it with SW Black Series and now here too:(

I get corporate branding and all that jazz, but just make up a nice sounding name for the different scales. Marvel Infinite was fine and it’s not like anyone buying the toys was not aware hasbro/Disney was putting out both sizes.

  2. The second from the left looks like Exodus to me. If it is, as well as the third turning out to be either Storm or Rogue, I guess the rumors of a Hasbro “embargo” is false.

    • There is no embargo on classic comic X-Men toys being released by Hasbro. That said, Disney will -never- allow Fox movie X-Men toys from Hasbro again.

  3. Oh dear Lord! I HATED that Rogue! Give me the Avengers Annual #10 version…or better yet – the Jim Lee version that is in 3-pack as a solo item. THAT would be something to get excited about!

Also – I would LOVE to see an “Age of Apocalypse” series at 4″ to include Creed, Holocaust, Blink, Sunfire, and any number of other figures in that story line.

  4. Me gustaria ver a quasar eh hydroman en MARVEL LEGENDS !! 6 PULGADAS !! comparto en que ponerle el mismo nombre que las figuras de 6 pulgadas fue un error

  5. I hope that this 4″ Quasar means that Hasbro has the digital sculpts ready for a 6″ scale Quasar. My classic Avengers roster shelf really really needs him, in any iteration, to feel closer to completion. Then we just need to see the remaining “not horrible” main team members like Monica Rambeau, Starfox, and Sersi.

  6. This p.o’d me. Use the universe tab so I don’t see quasar and think we are getting a real legends version of him.

  7. Still waiting for Blue Marvel (the new Ultimates version), Stryfe, Spiderman (Ben Reilly version), Terrax, Selene, Genis-Vell (Captain Marvel version), Rikki Barnes (Bucky version), Nate Grey, Cable (90s blue & yelow costume), Annihilus, Bastion, Ian Zola (Nomad), Songbird, Rachel Grey (Marvel Girl costume), Sphinx, Mimic (Exiles version), Citizen V, Ikaris, Vulcan and Mr. Sinister (AOA version)

  8. QUASAR. Because, really. QUASAR. That just sorta jacked me up. And I don’t even buy those size figures…
