Marvel Legends Avengers Wave 3 Packaged Photos! Hulkbuster!

Hasbro must have heard that I was out buying a house today to put more toys into, because when I got home, I’d received an E-Mail with photos of a bunch of new figures that will be joining my (really) extended family this summer! Though we’ve seen and heard exactly zip about the figures since they debuted at New York Toy Fair 2015 (and they won’t go up for pre-order for a little while yet), the official packaged and unpackaged photos of the Hasbro 6″ Marvel Legends Avengers Series 3 figures have now been released!

Avengers Legends Series 3 Vision Figure with Hulkbuster Lower Torso Piece

Those who have been waiting for a new Marvel Legends Vision figure, your prayers have been answered! Those of you who wanted a new classic Vision or movie Vision Marvel Legends figure…? Not so much.

Even so, I think that this Marvel Now Vision figure is looking pretty slick, and will be a worthy addition to my Marvel Legends 6″ collection. If you’re waiting for an Avengers Age of Ultron Vision Marvel Legends figure–hang in there. I’d be willing to bet that we’ll be seeing the movie version of Vision released in Marvel Legends form next year as part of the Captain America: Civil War Legends series.

Avengers Marvel Legends Wave 3 Marvel Now Iron Man with Hulkbuster Leg

Next up, we’ve got the Marvel NOW! Iron Man Marvel Legends figure, wearing the black-and-gold armor that Iron Man briefly wore in the comics.

I was satisfied with my Kotobukiya Iron Man ARTFX+ statue of this armor, but I need that Hulkbuster leg, so this figure will unquestionably be coming home.

War Machine Marvel Legends Avengers Figure with Hulkbuster Iron Man HeadOriginally shown at San Diego Comic Con 2013 as part of the cancelled Iron Man 3 Legends Series 3 wave, Marvel Legends War Machine Mark II is finally flying into our collections this summer! Sadly, this is the non-canonical MCU War Machine Mark II with pink around the eyes and arc reactor and not quite the version seen in Avengers: Age of Ultron, but hey–I’m sure Hasbro will give us that repaint next year, right…?

The War Machine Mark II Marvel Legends figure will come with the Build-A-Figure Hulkbuster Iron Man head.

Marvel Legends Thundra Figure Packaged Avengers Wave 3Avengers Marvel Legends Thundra Figure (Fearless Defenders)

Avengers Legends Series 3 Thunder Figure with Hulkbuster Iron Man Left Arm Piece

Thundra is easily the most obscure character in Avengers Legends Series 3, and a figure that I suspect would warm shelves if she didn’t come with the left arm of Hulkbuster Iron Man. Fans of Thundra will be psyched to get this figure though–it’s definitely one most people never expected to see produced.

Finally, we’ve got another addition to the lovable losers wings of the Legends rogue’s gallery! It’s Blizzard! I’ve always loved Blizzard since I was first exposed to him in the 90’s Iron Man cartoon, and I’m thrilled to see the ex-Thunderbolts member finally joining the Marvel Legends lineup, two years after being first revealed.

Blizzard will include the upper torso armor for the Marvel Legends Hulk Buster Iron Man figure, so even those who aren’t the biggest fans of the C-List villain are going to have to buy him if they want to build Hulkbuster.

Marvel Legends Blizzard Figure with Hulkbuster Torso ArmorThe Marvel Legends Avengers Hulkbuster Iron Man Series should be up for order within the next few weeks, and is expected to arrive in June/July 2015. I’ll post an update to the Marvel Toy News Facebook Page once the series goes up for pre-order, and you can ‘Like’ Marvel Toy News on Facebook to have news, photos and updates beamed right to your Newsfeed!

Now that we’ve seen the gorgeous hi-res images of every figure, what do you think of Avengers Legends Wave 3, Marvel fans? Are you planning to buy the whole series and build your own Marvel Legends Hulkbuster Iron Man, or will you be passing on Marvel Legends Avengers Series 3?

Marvel Legends Avengers Wave 3 Packaged Photos! Hulkbuster! — 48 Comments

  1. What is up with all these Marvel Legends action figures now days? What happened to the good ole 3.75 action figures with which all of my Daughters action figures are? I really don’t like this.

    • Good man! 🙂 I am a big fan of the SMALL toys. Love that they are your daughter’s favorites too! The Marvel LEGENDS are a long time fan favorite.
The 6″inch figure being the standard of collectors I believe that the influx of new 1/12 figures here is an attempt to please the legends fans(Legendeers) and fill some long needed holes in the collections of long time fans. I for one am excited for original offerings like Thundra, Blizzard, and the upcoming Misty Knight, Bulldozer,Grimm Reaper, and Tigershark.
Don’t worry. The 1/18th figures are rolling out too, but at a slower pace right now.
I collect both sizes, but I’m focusing on legends while they are hot.
I plan to double back and pick up all the 3.75″. Hasbro will gladly take our money, friend.

  2. *passes out from sheer excitement*
Yes! I will be pre ordering these bad boys (and girls) ASAP. Them I can’t wait to get my BAF Up from later in the fall. Lol

  3. This series looks awesome, these photos help sell me on the series. The only one I can’t really get excited about is that Valkyrie, that face is, odd.

  4. But I’m sure once I start buying these figures, I’ll have to finish building Hulk
    Buster

  5. I honestly can’t tell the difference between that War Machine and the one in the movie. Am I missing something?

    • The movie War Machine features blue lights on the eyes and chest reactor. Not something that Hasbro will want to rerelease the mold for, but a clear enough difference to those who care.

  6. I’m Willing to bet that’s the same War Machine from the Iron Monger BAF, just with the ion mask head.

I really wish they would’ve had time to have done a movie version of Vision…

    • Same War Machine mold as the Iron Patriot in the Iron Monger series. Just new Paint.

      New head at least.

  7. Tbh I think this wave sucks. The only figure that I really care to get is Vision. I’d love to have that Hulkbuster but I don’t want Thundra, Valkyrie or Blizzard in the slightest nor do I really want a repainted Iron Man figure or a lesser War Machine than I currently have, Strange looks decent but not a must get imo.

  8. All figures look good with a few minor things like war machines lights and valkyrie’s head. That will not stop me from ordering this wave. HULKBUSTER BAF!!!!!!!

  10. What I do not understand is why is Hasbro releasing all the waves in clusters? For instance, the beginning of the year we got 3 waves back to back to back and then the last 3 months have been nothing, no news and no new product. Now they are about to do the same thing with this wave, the antman wave and the spiderman wave, not to mention the boxsets of guardians, the vision boxset and that stupid avengers 4 pack. I do not understand why they can just spread it out like one new wave every other month and a boxset in between those month’s. It sucks how they are doing this because you buy all the waves at once spending a ton of money at one time and then nothing for 3-4 months. It sucks.

    • Globalization.

They need to schedule factory time for production, then schedule container ships to ship products internationally, then schedule domestic routes to deliver products to market. All this depends on massive trans-national logistics schedules, which care not for the emptiness of your wallet. These are the same reasons that the “return” waves were impossible to find in some areas, and that some waves were altered, postponed, and cancelled.

    • The solution is simple: save your dollars, and earmark them for these figures.
I collect multiple lines. Sometimes it’s a struggle and I really used to catch hell when DCUC was in stores. If I was a hard-core “Legendeer”,and ONLY collected MLs I’d have money for other endeavours saved up, so I’m speaking from experience. I collect Star Wars,Transformers, Marvel 3.75″and occasional DC direct, minimates,GI.Joes,SH figuarts, video game etc figures. I LOVE Hasbro’s new distribution model. It was fun pulling together MANDROID, ultimateGG, and GROOT from stores. Then grabbing my peripherals in the interim. When they made the announcement for the current MLs,I made them the priority. Most of my money and focus is on acquiring these waves. Only the occasional Transformer gets a pass. I put marvel 3.75″on hold. Pick those up later. I got my ODIN wave in Feb.The SHIELD set in Mar. The THANOS wave last month. I’ve been waiting to hear about HB wave. It was way too quiet and the movie dropped already.

  11. That Black and Gold IM is too cold!
    Yes Blizzard is awesome too!
Those abbs on Thundra are inexplicable!
    It’s ALL Good.:-D

  12. As much as I’m excited for a lot of these figures, I have to ask- Why are we even bothering with swap variants anymore?

I mean, it made sense in the Toy Biz days when we actually GOT variants, like Wasp or Wonder Man who had different looks, or during the Return waves where you’d get the same BAF piece and they ship in different waves. But now you get two completely different, unrelated figures and characters. How are they swap variants if they’re completely unrelated and they ship together?

Like, I don’t mind, it’s a great that we’re getting so many figures, I’m just wondering what’s keeping them from calling the Doctor Strange figure Doctor Strange.

    • Here’s my complete guess, based on nothing but speculation: Hasbro has to register SKUs well in advance of when figures are released, and the decision hadn’t been made yet to have the swap figures in the same assortment when they registered SKUs. Thus, Doctor Strange ends up sharing a SKU and a “name” with another figure in the same case.

      • Nice guess. Only one problem. As anyone whose hunted these in store has experienced, the SKUs for marvel legends regardless of character are all the same base number. Upc/SKU is the same which is why when I call stores looking for Black Cat, Black Widow,Or Daredevil,AntiVenom,Hellcat or Hawkeye the customer service can’t specify which characters they’ve got in stock, they can only say how MANY figures there are in specific store locations.
I think it’s a force of habit ,status quo,run of the mill, going through the motions situation. Thinking back to Arnim Zola,(the last time we actually got so-called running change/swap figures),then Rocket Raccoon,Hit Monkey where we lost figures in the mix, it makes sense to me that it’s just a hard habit for Hasbro to break. Both “swaps” in the case works in the new movie paradigm, so if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,I say. Mandroid up till THANOS and I haven’t missed one yet. Soldiers of AIM, Agents Of Hydra, Skyline Sirens, Deadliest Foes-Maidens of Might, Avenging Allies,Fierce Fighters…
        It’s ALL Good.
Check ALL your ML boxes. The SKUs base#s for the same year are the same.
The suffix#s are different. Hellcat is ..31. SpiderWoman is ..32.

  13. I would add (and again, speculation) that switching out the lesser characters in the case makes the refreshed case sell-through better, thus more re-orders, thus the line continues. Altho fans may not be jazzed by more Iron Men, those are most likely to sell to a casual buyer. You can’t say that for Dr Strange, Valkyrie or Blizzard.

  14. I hope this wave isn’t a store exclusive. WHAT’S THE RELEASE DATE!!!!!!!!

    • Oh, don’t worry, dude. It’s a general release. These should be everywhere by late summer. June/July should see the first sightings of these.

  15. Here is a list of tentative release dates for the remaining waves of Hasbro’s 6″ Marvel Legends Infinite Series figures for 2015 that will see general retail releases:

Marvel Legends Avengers Infinite Series – Hulkbuster Wave – June-July
    – Blizzard
    – Dr. Strange
    – Marvel Now Iron Man
    – Thundra
    – Valkyrie
    – Vision
    – War Machine
    – Avengers: Age Of Ultron Hulkbuster Iron Man (BAF)

Marvel Legends Spider-Man Infinite Series – Rhino Wave – August-September
    – Chameleon
    – Ghost Rider
    – Kraven The Hunter
    – Misty Knight
    – Scarlet Spider
    – Superior Venom
    – White Tiger
    – Rhino (BAF)

Marvel Legends Ant-Man Infinite Series – Ultron Wave – September-October
    – Ant-Man
    – Grim Reaper
    – Tiger Shark
    – Wasp
    – Giant-Man
    – Bulldozer
    – Avengers: Age Of Ultron, Ultron Prime (BAF)

Keep in mind these release dates are tentative and subject to change. This also doesn’t include the number of exclusive sets we know about such as

    – Avengers: Age Of Ultron Amazon Exclusive Set
    – Target Exclusive Avengers 3-Pack
    – Entertainment Earth Guardians Of The Galaxy 5-Pack – August

    • So the Avengers age of ultron Amazon exclusive 4 pack wouldn’t be released until August?

    • Keep in mind that they posted that list of release dates using the Asian release dates, which they neglected to mention for whatever reason. There are no announced Hasbro release dates yet, and there won’t be until Hasbro gives U.S. retailers the go-ahead to start taking orders. So we could see the Hulkbuster wave in June/July in the United States, or we could see them arrive here in the U.S. closer to August. I would say the odds of this wave hitting the U.S. before July are pretty slim, though.

      • Whatever you say, capt. I would rather it be LATER than sooner. My budget needs a chance to recover. However, since the film was released on May1st and ANTMAN won’t hit until July,I would think Hasbro would try and get the final Avengers wave to stores before then. Of course like you state it could be much later, and then we will have 6 different waves of HML at retail. Wow!!!

        • I’m really hoping we do get some awesome movie series action figures of Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, and the Vision from Avengers age of ultron.I was recently contacting Hasbro and asked if they have any plans for a movie legends series of Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver and Vision or a least a exclusive 3 pack box set with them but sadly they do not have plans right now.But if they do release a Scarlet Witch,Quicksilver and Vision movie series figures for a Captain America Civil War wave I hope they have thier age of ultron look so I could complete my collection from the film.

  16. Movie series figures that make me wonder why haven’t they ever been produced??
    First on my list
    Iron man Mark VII (Avengers)
Whiplash (Rourke or final battle Drone)
    Falcon( Winter soldier AOU)
    Red Skull ( First Avenger)
    Scarlet Witch
    Quick Silver

    My Personal BAF set

    • Dude you forgot about Vision!! how could you! Don forget about Ronan the Accuser, luafy(frost giant), Malekith,as for Iron Man Mark Vll I just bought the figma figure it completes my Avengers. But as for a movie series of Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch and the Vision Hasbro currently doesn’t have plans for them but maybe when Captain America Civil War is out they’ll release Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch and Vision to complete are Avengers age of ultron collection and hopefully we get a falcon along with other Avengers that won’t get thier solo films but make thier debut in Civil War.

      • My fault you’re right I just get frustrated with hasbro at times when the leave out obvious figures that people will buy…. How is that figma Iron man? Does it fit in well with the Marvel Legends?

        • He has lots of articulation and comes with the little bullets on his shoulders and the missiles from his legs that he uses to fight off the big chitaurie monster he also comes with his back thrusters to make it seem he’s flying. But I always look at toy reviews before buying a figure and it does go perfectly with the Avengers.Hasbro doesn’t have plans to make a iron man mark 45 so I’m going to buy it from SH figuret. But if you really want Quicksilver,Scarlet Witch and Vision you should be like me and e-mail Hasbro of taking into consideration making these figures so that we can complete are Avengers age of ultron legends.

          • I might have to go the route of email because my wishful thinking isnt working. I just checked out that figma Iron man Mark 7 the price is steep but the figure looks nice.
I might just have to get it.

        • The mark 7 would complete your Avengers, If you do e-mail Hasbro tell them that you would like to complete your Avengers age of ultron collection. Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver and Vision where such important characters in the film that they deserve thier own Marvel legends movie series figures and when would Hasbro get a chance to release those figures considering thiers New Avengers heading are way.If you know anyone else that collects movie series legends tell them to also e-mail so Hasbro could know that thiers people that really want those figures and would like to complete thier age of ultron collection.I also forgot about DareDevil he deserves a Netflix series action figure he’s such a badass character and he can’t be left out.

          • Ok Sounds pretty good i’ll do that and hopefully Hasbro will get the picture. Because some of their BAF assortments they choose baffle me.
Also Netflix Daredevil needs to be done also a new Blade figure to add here I go again oh well..

        • A Blade figure would be great but if want Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver and Vision then we can’t ask for comic series figures we should wait for Netflix to develop a Blade series and then hopefully we’ll get a figure and as for a DareDevil action figure that’s a demand! Oh and I also forgot about Falcon he should get a figure considering he is now a Avenger. Then thiers the possibility of hope becoming Wasp in Ant Man we would need a figure of her. Then thiers Secret Worriers in Agent’s of shield, But maybe we’ll get a tone of Marvel legends MCU series figures for Civil War next year. But I doubt Hasbro would do that, they care more about thier comic book series then MCU series.

          • Blade had a series on spike tv or FX awhile back I forget which one but it was good series. There was a blade bald headed ML figure that was rumored to come out but I never saw it.
Also, thats what frustrated me ya would think Hasbro would do a movie series Scarlett Witch, Quicksilver, Vision and Falcon BAF set not some of the guys listed above.
Well we see what comes but youre right Hasbro does put more push behind their comic book series figures.

          • Wasn’t there a Blade in a fairly recent Legends line? Think he was an alternate with Punisher maybe?

  17. It sucks I have to collect all those figures to build Ultron when I only need Ant Man and Ultron!

  18. That is not so horrible, captain.
    It’s very wonderful and awesome!
For collectors of the Marvel Universe of course. I am buying them ALL. Movie Ant-Man,the long awaited Bulldozer that will complete the 4man supervillain team of the WRECKING CREW. Killer Shark, and Grim Reaper adds more members to the Masters of Evil/Thunderbolts collection of Avengers hating supervillains.
Giantman of course,is one of (Hank Pym’s) Ant-man’s awesome Avenger personalities.
It is literally all good(great) figures
    Of marvel legends characters,capt!
Even if you are only a fan of movie versions, all of the Comic figures are STILL awesome.
Usually buying a whole set hits the pockets hard with a set having7-8figures in it. This is only 6,friend.

There are ways around it though if you positively just HAVE to only get Ant-man & Ultron.
I built FinFangFoom and only kept King Hulk and Savage She-Hulk way back in the day. I sold the ones I didn’t want to my comic store.
Of course I did buy the whole set from the jump. Then there’s ebay.
Here is a big hint:try DorksideToys.
They sell completed build-a-figures. Right now they are taking orders for Hulkbuster BAFs,so PATIENCE is key, like it ALWAYS is in this hobby and life.
Im sure Ultron BAF will be put up for sale on their site soon.
    Happy collecting!

  19. I recently saw this line in a store but I saw an Archangel figure in the blizzard package that seemed unopened and with a different build a figure piece. it looks legit what do you think the value would be.

    • It’s worth the retail store price;$19-$25 and ONLY to the oblivious retail stores.?
Worthless in the collector community. ?IT’S A TRICK! A THEFT TECHNIQUE USED BY UNSCRUPULOUS “collectors”!!? unless you just want archangel don’t buy it,and don’t fall for this. It isn’t a factory mistake. I’ve seen IronMan in Spiderman or Blizzard boxes, old Toybiz Spiderwoman in the new Hasbro Spiderwoman boxes, and so forth.
In some cases the BAF part is missing or replaced with a totally bogus piece!
This is the downside to the new reusable boxes. People are taking advantage of that and the ignorance of collector knowledge by store management.
AGAIN,IT’S A TRICK. LEAVE IT ON THE SHELVES OR…
report it to customer service. I do. Target staff tells me it’s considered damaged goods and its flagged and removed.
Remember the old adage: BUYER BEWARE!
      Shalom?
