Captain America Marvel Legends Abomination Series Photos!

Hasbro has seemingly entered a strange and terrifying new era this year wherein literally the first time we’ve seen numerous new Marvel Legends 6″ figures is when they’ve already been released overseas and packaged photos have leaked out. Such is the case with the Marvel Legends Civil War Wave 3 photos that popped up online today, which not only let us see some characters for the first time–it confirms characters like Marvel Legends Wonder Man and Eel we weren’t even sure were coming!

Captain America Marvel Legends Scarlet Witch & Captain Britain Figures

When online retailers opened orders for the third wave of Captain America Marvel Legends 2016 without even concept photos, I had a feeling we’d be seeing most of the figures for the very first time from overseas collectors rather than Hasbro themselves.

And as insane as it may sound, that’s exactly what happened today, when packaged photos of the wave leaked onto Facebook, confirming the six figure lineup and the Abomination Build-A-Figure!

Captain America Marvel Legends Eel Figure

The figures included in this Marvel Legends Captain America 2016 Wave  3 are as follows:

  • Secret War Captain America
  • Iron Skull
  • The Eel
  • Civil War Scarlet Witch
  • Energized Emissaries Wonder Man
  • Energized Emissaries Captain Britain
  • Abomination Build-A-Figure

If this lineup looks familiar, it’s because it’s the exact list that was leaked by Hasbro Brasil during late winter–Abomination BAF and all!

If you were waiting for the new Marvel Legends Crossbones, Tigra and King Cobra figures that Hasbro previously sent UPCs to retailers for, don’t despair yet: just like the Marvel Legends Shocker figure who was moved out of the Space Venom Series, I’m sure we’ll be seeing Crossbones and friends sooner than later.

Marvel Legends Iron Skull & Secret War Captain America FiguresAs far as this wave goes, well… it’s not my favorite wave this year, but it’s got some really interesting characters in it we don’t see very often.

And the characters we do see often–Captain America and Red Skull–are at least in costumes Hasbro has never done before for collector lines. The Secret War costume for Cap and “swoosh” effect for his shield are cool, and it’s nice to see a Marvel Legends Iron Skull version of Red Skull that actually looks formidable.

Marvel Legends Civil War Scarlet Witch Figure PackagedThe Marvel Legends Scarlet Witch movie figure is going to be a smash hit with collectors, and I’m glad fans will have a chance to get the Abomination BAF without having to purchase the SDCC 2016 Exclusive The Raft set next month at Comic-Con. Abomination’s head looks amazing!!

Marvel Legends Eel and Wonder Man Figures

While he’s not a character that I’ve ever cared about–ever–I’m finding that I really, really dig the Marvel Legends Eel figure. And it’s a godsend that he comes with both electrified hands and casual hands, unlike poor Electro. Thanks, Hasbro!

Something looks strange to me about the costume on the new Marvel Legends Wonder Man figure, but I’m a total sucker for those new effects pieces, so I’m happier than I expected to be about Simon as well.

Marvel Legends Captain Britain FigureThe Marvel Legends Abomination Series is now available for order, and is expected to ship out in late July/early August 2016. Intuition says that Wanda will probably sell alone for $60-$80 on the aftermarket when this wave hits, so I’d definitely recommend anyone wanting this series just order a case or a set rather than hunting for Scarlet Witch by her lonesome.

What do you think of this year’s Captain Americs Legends Wave 3, Marvel collectors? Are you impressed with what Hasbro lined up for us in this wave, or are you saving your money for some of the other (many) ML 6″ figures hitting in 2016?

Captain America Marvel Legends Abomination Series Photos! — 35 Comments

  1. The only one I want out of this wave is Scarlet Witch. Wonderman is up for debate.

    • It appears to be a Red Skull painted on a Iron Man helmet. But, it looks like it could be used later as a new Crossbones head.

  2. Oh, great. A wave of fairly unpopular characters with one popular movie figure. I can’t WAAAAAAAAIT to try and find Wanda at retail. [rolls eyes]

I’m sorry, I don’t like being so negative, but Hasbro, what in the world were you thinking? Are you trying to keep Wanda out of circulation by ensuring that half this wave will clog shelves so retailers won’t buy more cases, and fewer Wandas will get out? Because… that… makes no sense.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ll probably cave and buy Wonder Man and Iron Skull, but I can’t imagine that Cap being very popular, I’m super not interested in Captain Britain, and does anyone even know who Eel is? Is anyone out there trying to build the Serpent Squad/Society/Whatever the hell they are? Although given Hasbro’s insistence on it that might not be such a bad idea. Being third-stringers means they can be found cheaply after the fact, and SOMEONE at Hasbro seems to really like these guys. (Now all we need is a half-decent Madame Hydra/Viper…)

I hope whoever is deciding distribution for this wave double-packs Wanda because if they’re rock-stupid enough to single-pack her… I don’t want to see the nightmare that will result from that. Please, Hasbro. Just this once prove to me you aren’t stupid enough to single-pack the most popular character in a given wave.

I’ll admit, Abomination looks pretty cool, though. I might grab some parts from eBay to build him.

        • Yeah that’s so true thiers mostly the spider man wave I saw the Giant Man wave once but thier was everyone but black panther. Would I have to ask if they have the series?

          • In what universe is single-packing a popular character like Black Panther in favor of a minor redeco like Civil War Captain America EVER a good idea?

Is it in the Ultimate universe? Because that’s kind of a jerk thing to do, and the Ultimate universe is full of jerks.

(Single-packing referring to how many units are in a case, not being in, say, a 2-pack. Black Panther came one-per-case in cases of the Giant Man wave because Hasbro execs in charge of that stuff are braindead I guess.)

          • Does it matter? You can buy the figures either way it doesn’t need to be a two pack. What if other people like what they did. They aren’t gonna change it because you don’t like one little packaging. So u don’t need to go on a rant LOL

    • It’s Scarlet Witch, by the way. Not “Wanda” (and, while we’re at it , it’s Sub-Mariner not “Namor”). How is she the most popular figure in this wave? Wonder Man and Captain Britain are must haves for me. I already have a Scarlet Witch. She’s a pass. So no. Not the most popular.

I understand that people have preferences but please STOP trying to speak for the entire collector community. I mean, I like the Viper figure we already have and think this Abomination looks stupid. Do you see that? Do you see how you don’t speak for me?

      • She’s the most popular character in this wave because she’s a movie figure that hasn’t been made before. Simple as that.

From what I’ve seen, the collector community- such as it is- tends to be split somewhere in the ballpark of 50/50 on preferring movie figures to comic figures- but in this case, collectors aren’t NECESSARILY the only ones buying these figures. I know I have a number of friends who usually wouldn’t give a crap about collecting these, but since they’re fans of Scarlet Witch- and let’s face facts, as much as we all love comic books, the movies are the pop-culture reference point for most of these characters for a LOT of people- would LOVE this figure. So you have at least some degree of “non-collectors” who are at least showing interest here because if Wanda happens to be their favorite, they might go out of their way to own a figure of her even if they don’t have shelves upon shelves of action figures lining their walls. Eel… not so much.

On the other hand, as much as I like the dude, Wonder Man isn’t exactly a pop culture mainstay, and Captain Britain has a number of dedicated fans I think will be happy with this figure, but I don’t think he’s been in a comic since last year’s Secret Wars. It’s entirely possible that could be wrong about that, though, since I don’t actively look for comics with him in them.

And… well, Wanda IS the Scarlet Witch’s real name, so yes it is. You’ll excuse me for not knowing why THAT was worth getting hung up on. (Also… I never mentioned Namor.) And I only said that I didn’t have much interest in Captain Britain. I wasn’t trying to speak for everyone (when… when did I EVER indicate that I was trying to do that? Because I didn’t.) and I know that every character is someone’s favorite, but my point is I can’t exactly see this wave flying off the shelves when a number of the characters are relatively obscure. (Also, the current Madame Hydra/Viper is on that terrible old female buck they phased out when they got to using the new Moonstone and Scarlet Witch female body molds. I’d say she’s due for an update in a wave or three.)

      • Actually, it IS “Namor”. Been that way for nearly 20 years now. For some unknown reason (at least to me), Marvel got away from calling him “Sub-Mariner. He’s still known as such, but he’s not referred to by that title pretty much anymore.

  3. This…..is an odd wave.
Captain Britain and Scarlet Witch are the only ones I really care about, but I guess I do kinda technically need a Wonderman, and Eel looks cool for some reason….
Iron Skull and Cap are probably the ones I’m least interested in….unless that Iron Skull isn’t just recycling an Iron Man figure, but I’m sure he is.

  4. I want Capt Britain, Wonder-man, Eel and Capt America’s shield. I do not need Abomination if it is also included in the SDCC set. Overall an underwhelming set.

  5. Only want Eel and maybe Wonderman as the old figure is kinda undersized though I like the old Captain Britian better, don’t care about movie figures and Select Abom is <3. I hope we get King Cobra. Also, the SDCC box is the raft, and they aren't giving us another Cage? Wtf… I feel horrible for people who couldn't get the Thunderbolt box.

  6. HASBRO DON’T LISTEN THE NEGATIVE OTHERS. THIS WAVE IS FANTASTIC. I KNOW AND I WANT THIS FIGURES. WONDERMAN , EEL AND CAPTAIN BRITAIN IS PERFECT.

  7. Different strokes for different folks I guess, but I’m in love with this series. Thrilled for the movie Wanda, loving the Eel, and totally stoked for the WCA era Wonder Man. Captain Britain isn’t one of my favorites but at least the figure looks good. Hopefully the Iron Skull is a new armor sculpt, and hey at least it’s a different Cap costume this time!

  8. Want Wonder Man and Captain Britain as well as Iron Skull! Gonna fry to find completed A-bomb on Ebay!

  9. Gonna sell off Abomination, iron skull and Cap. All the rest are keepers for me.

  10. Actually, I’m kind of excited for that Iron Skull. It uses a better mold than the eighty-billion-year-old one they used for Marvel Now! Iron Man, and it comes with a helmeted head, so from what I can tell a quick paint-strip job with some nail polish remover essentially renders the figure a solid black Iron Man. That’ll be fun to break out the paints on.
