Funko Marvel POP! Vinyls July 2014 Retirement List

All good things must come to an end–and that includes the production runs of some figures in the extensive line of Funko POP! Vinyls figures. While Funko will often keep certain POP Vinyls figures in production for several years, with the crazy number of new characters they’re producing each year, certain figures need to retire–or go out of production–forever. And on this summer’s list of discontinued items, it’s been confirmed that several Marvel POP! Vinyls are going into retirement. Order the retiring Marvel POP Vinyls soon if you’re missing them, because retired Funko POP Vinyls can get very pricey on the aftermarket…

The Marvel Funko POP! Vinyls figures traditionally have a longer production run than most other Funko licenses and rarely go into retirement, but this summer, Funko is retiring a septet of popular Marvel POP Vinyl figures.

The following Marvel POP! Vinyls are now on their way to that big Funko retirement home in the sky:

  • Marvel Funko Wolverine Logan POP! Vinyl
  • Marvel Funko Red Hulk POP! Vinyl
  • Marvel Funko Dark Phoenix POP! Vinyl
  • Marvel Funko Dr. Doom POP! Vinyl
  • Marvel Funko The Thing POP! Vinyl
  • Marvel Funko Iron Man Mark 42 POP! Vinyl
  • Marvel Funko Iron Man Space Suit (Starboost) POP! Vinyl

Vinyl Error Figure not Bobble HeadWith the insane plethora of new Funko POP Vinyl figures being released in 2014, it was a given that Funko would have to retire some older favorites to make space on the shelves (and in the factories!) for the newcomers. Even so, I’m a bit surprised to see characters like Red Hulk and Logan retiring already when they were just produced for the first time in 2013. Funko Red Hulk Marvel POP Vinyl Figure

The Funko Dr. Doom and The Thing POP Vinyls going into retirement shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise for those following the rampant drama and speculation surrounding the notion that Marvel is trying to gut-punch FOX’s Fantastic Four movie franchise, but I am a bit sad that we’ll probably never get the rest of the Funko Fantastic Four vinyls produced now.

As far as the Iron Man 3 POP! Vinyls retiring goes–honestly, I’m surprised that the Iron Man Mark 42 POP! Vinyl is retiring. That’s always been a hot seller in my area and has looked to do very well online. It’s interesting that Funko is discontinuing the Mark 42 Iron Man and Starboost Iron Man figures, but is keeping Iron Patriot and War Machine in production.

Vinyls figures are still available for order online for below retail price, so be sure to snatch them up ASAP if you want them. Retired Funko POP! Vinyls like The Riddler, Two-Face, The Penguin, Ursula and so forth command top-dollar on the secondary market, and characters like Dr. Doom and Dark Phoenix will definitely continue to be in-demand once all supplies of these retired Funko Marvel POP Vinyl figures are exhausted.

What do you think about the Marvel POP Vinyls that Funko has chosen to discontinue, Marvel collectors? Will you be grabbing any of these retired Marvel vinyl figures now, before they’re totally wiped out and skyrocket on the aftermarket?

  1. Ebay sellers who are currently selling them for cheap wont even know what hit them once this gets out! I bet they see a rise in sales over the next 2 weeks lol

  2. Just now getting into collecting these. Is there anywhere I can find a list that includes the entire marvel/marvel movie line up?
