Hot Toys Vision Figure Up for Order! MMS 296

I get at least one or two E-Mails every day asking me when I think a major Avengers Age of Ultron Vision, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch figures are coming. The answer is always the same: “The Hot Toys versions will be the only ones up for sale this year.” It’s enormously frustrating to hear, but it’s reality. But maybe that harsh reality will be a little easier to accept after today, as the MMS296 Hot Toys Vision figure is now available for order!

MMS 296 Vision Hot Toys Age of Ultron Movie Masterpiece Series FigureHot Toys has been teasing us with the Avengers: Age of Ultron Hot Toys Vision figure for months now, first showing us the display stand for the Vision figure and (months later) a shot the figure from behind and his magnificent cape. But finally, today we get to see what the world’s best sixth scale figure manufacturer has cooked up for us–and it is awesome!

MMS296 Hot Toys Vision Avengers Age of Ultron Sixth Scale FigureThough we’d already seen it before in the teasers, the standout aspect of this figure is definitely the Vision’s highly-detailed, crazy cape. It’s so unique and different from anything else we’ve seen in the Hot Toys Marvel line, and coupled with Vision’s unusual color scheme, will make Vision a huge eye-grabber on any figure shelf.

Avengers Age of Ultron Vision Hot Toys Head Close-Up Paul Bettany

I’ve heard some criticism aimed at the portrait for the Vision 1/6th scale figure already, but I’ve grown quite fond of Paul Bettany, and I can definitely see Paul Bettany in that head sculpt. There’s a couple tweaks that I think Hot Toys can do to make everybody happy (including modifying the lips a little bit), but I think this Vision head sculpt is likely to be golden once it comes off the production line.

Given Hot Toys’ propensity for adding in electronics, I’m surprised that they didn’t try to wire the Mind Gem on Vision’s forehead to light up. It’s not a feature I wanted to pay for or ever use, mind you (no pun intended), but I’m surprised nonetheless.

Hot Toys Vision Holding Thor's Hammer MjolnirIn one of the most spoileriffic moves in Hot Toys history, the Hot Toys Vision action figure is the first non-Thor figure I can remember in history that comes with Thor’s hammer as an accessory. I guess Vision was worthy of breaking precedents!

Hot Toys Vision Figure and Accessories MMS 296Vision doesn’t come with a ton of accessories other than Mjolnir–just four pairs of interchangeable hands and his special figure stand base with nameplate–but there’s not a lot of accessories for Vision that would make sense, so I’m okay with that. A pair of translucent phasing hands would have been nice, though.

Vision Hot Toys Sixth Scale Figure Flying with Flowing CapeBecause the amount of Avengers Age of Ultron Vision movie figures are so few and far between, I actually forgot that Ultron had designed his intended ‘ultimate’ android body to be a little more down-to-earth sizewise.

Avengers 2 Hot Toys Vision Sixth Scale FigureWhile the MMS 296 Hot Toys Ultron Prime figure stands a whopping 41 cm (over 16″), the 1/6 Vision Hot Toys figure will be a more human-like 31.5 cm (12.4″) tall. I’m glad for that, as the Vision will look better next to his Avengers teammates at that size, and I won’t have to find another 18″ tall shelf to display him on!

Hot Toys The Vision Figure Avengers Age of Ultron

The United States retail price for the Hot Toys Vision Movie Masterpiece Series figure still isn’t known, but he’s selling for 1300 HKD overseas–the same price as the Hot Toys AOU Captain America (which, by the way, should be arriving in the U.S. early this summer!).

Based off of the 12″ Vision figure being priced equivocally to Captain America in Hong Kong, we can guesstimate a $224.99 price-tag for the sixth scale Vision–not bad at all, considering the costs of some recent Hot Toys figures (* cough* $825 Hulkbuster *cough*). Here’s hoping the price on Vision doesn’t get inflated in North America “because popular”.

UPDATE: Surprise! Vision is priced at a very fair $219.99, making him one of the cheapest Hot Toys Avengers Age of Ultron figures, and also five bucks cheaper than Captain America! Thanks, Sideshow!

Vision Avengers Age of Ultron Hot Toys Figure 2015The Hot Toys Avengers Age of Ultron Vision figure is now available for order, with an estimated release date in December 2015. As just the second all-new character in the Hot Toys Age of Ultron line, make no mistake–Vision is going to sell like wildfire. There shouldn’t be any required deposit on Vision at his price-point, so I’d recommend reserving one now if you even think you’re going to want the Vision.

Now that he’s been fully-revealed, are you ordering your own MMS296 Vision Hot Toys figure, Marvel fans? What do you think about the first major figure release for everyone’s favorite android (no offense, Data)?

Hot Toys Vision Figure Up for Order! MMS 296 — 28 Comments

  1. I’m sad to say that this version of my favorite Avenger looks old and tired.

  2. Paul Bettany was not in Agent Carter… Howard Stark’s butler Jarvis was played by James D’Arcy.

Paul Bettany voiced Tony Stark’s AI Jarvis (named after his father’s butler). He then portrayed Vision in AoU.

    • The piece is a rough likeness, and I believe Hot Toys can do better. :-DThese are high end action figures. Virtual articulated statues. I need a high quality likeness for my high quality dollar.

      • Yeah, the HS is a little off. But then, there are a number of details that are not movie accurate either. It’s a prototype, likely started from early promo images from Marvel. I’ve got my fingers crossed it will get another pass before release.

If you read the official release details, it says “Authentic and detailed likeness of Vision in Avengers: Age of Ultron”

Usually it would say “Authentic and detailed likeness of Paul Bettany as Vision etc etc”, so that’s a little weird. I wonder if Marvel/Paul Bettany have not yet signed off on the likeness of this figure yet.

  3. Hot Toys blank emotion faces are something im used to… This Paul B. head sculpt could be better

      • To paraphrase the Vision himself;”I do not WANT to complain. I’m on the side of truth, and the truth compels me to speak.”
IMH(artistic)O, Paul Bettany as the Vision has fuller lips, the crimson tones around his cheeks is less harsh, his brow not do prominent or the lighting might be the cause here, and the eyes should have a brightness to make them pop, but not overwhelm the face. I really hope adjustments are made and the final product reflects the awesome character from the film.

    • Indeed. I do not collect these, but almost every time I consider it,I don’t like the piece because of a poor likeness.

    • Unclear. I have a feeling Marvel Studios sent out the first costume as the reference photos that Hot Toys got, but it’s possible that it’ll be her costume from the end of the movie. We’ll have to see, but I suspect the former.

  4. Not really. Just stating facts. Didnt say i hated it. Ive already pre ordered

  5. I must say the cape & head sculpt are superb, but i’m a bit dissapoint with the body, it seems like he is wearing some sort of jumpsuit? But i guessed its accurate to movie. Because otherwise his body are supposedly butt naked ? or wearing a verry tight body suit. I don’t see the pack, biceps and abs.

    • I have a feeling they’re holding off on Thor until most of the Dark World Thor figures are sold out. Once an AOU Thor goes up for order, those unsold DW Thors are going to rot in warehouses.

  6. I think he looks a little bit too hippy. The problem is that the British actors face is very stodgy looking. I saw a Halloween mask of Vision for kids and it looks hilarious. It makes the kid look like hes dressed as an oooold man. I think they should have made Visons face smoother instead of adding panel lines to it.
I think Vision has no soul, so he can lift the hammer, because just as Steve pointed out its like putting it on an elevator. I bet Ultron could have lifted it too. If Vision had really lifted the hammer he would have been transformed into a being with the power of Thor. Like it says right on the side.

  7. Sideshow does charge a deposit for any item worth over $200. This figure has a deposit of $22.
