Marvel Legends Civil War Giant-Man Series 6″ Packaged!

The fact that Disney decided late in the game that they didn’t want toy manufacturers “spoiling” the fact that Ant-Man was going to turn into Giant-Man in the “Captain America Civil War” movie–after many companies had already nearly finished production on their Civil War toys–is causing all the sorts of problems that you might expect. Primarily, Civil War figures that should be arriving any day now at stores can’t even be put up for pre-order yet. But on ebay, some cases of the 6″ Marvel Legends Giant-Man Series have already been released, giving us our first look at packaged photos and the Giant-Man Build-A-Figure!

Captain America Civil War Marvel Legends Giant-Man Series Packaged

…Well, that was fast! After being officially debuted for photography at the New York Toy Fair 2016 just over two weeks ago, the Marvel Legends 2016 Captain America Wave 2 figures have already arrived in Hong Kong and the Philippines! And so, now we can take a look at the actual production six inch action figures and see how they compare to what we saw at Toy Fair.

But first–! Since I imagine most readers’ eyes have looked right past the actual figures in the packaging photo above and went straight to focusing on the very obvious Build-A-Figure pieces, how about we talk about the elephant–or rather the Giant-Man–in the room?

Marvel Legends Giant-Man Build-A-Figure Size ComparisonAs soon as the leaked “Confidential” photos of the back of the packaging popped up on the internet last month, confirming the Civil War Marvel Legends Giant-Man Build-A-Figure, I knew that fans were ultimately going to be disappointed in the size of this Giant-Man BAF.

With the packaging bubbles being the size that they are, there was just no way that the Giant Man Marvel Legends figure would have a height more than 9″-10″ when split up amongst a six-figure series. And as expected, that’s exactly the height that the ML Giant Man figure turns out to be. I’m hoping that perhaps he won’t be any taller than this in the Civil War movie, but I really do suspect that that’s not the case. Alas.

Marvel Legends Civil War Black Panther Captain America Iron Man PackagedThanks to these packaged photos, we now know exactly what Giant-Man pieces come with each figure in the series, and the breakdown is as follows–

  • Movie Captain America: Giant-Man Head
  • Movie Black Panther: Giant-Man Left Leg
  • Movie Iron Man Mark 46: Giant Man Right Arm
  • Nick Fury: Giant Man Left Arm
  • Red Guardian: Giant-Man Build-A-Figure Right Leg
  • Nuke: Giant-Man Torso

Marvel Legends Nick Fury Nuke Red Guardian 6 Inch Figures PackagedI think Hasbro absolutely made the right decisions with the way that they’ve broken down the Giant Man Build A Figure, as Nuke–the most obscure character in the series–comes with the largest piece of Giant-Man, whereas the most undesirable 6″ figure in the series (yet another movie Captain America) comes with Scott Lang’s head.

Marvel Legends Giant-Man Series Cardbacks Nick Fury Nuke Red Guardian

Now that the first cases of this wave have been found, we can also confirm the case-pack for this series, which is unfortunately exactly what had been previously rumored.

6″ Marvel Legends Captain America Civil War Wave 2 Case Ratios:

  • (2) Civil War Captain America with Shield
  • (2) Iron Man Mark 46 with Effects Pieces and Alternate Hands
  • (1) Black Panther with Alternate T’Challa Head
  • (1) Nick Fury with Dirk Anger and SHIELD Trooper Heads
  • (1) Red Guardian with Shield
  • (1) Nuke with Alternate Battle-Damaged Head

Obviously these are not the ideal case ratios that collectors might have had in mind, as Black Panther and Nick Fury are the most-anticipated figures in this wave and are both packed at one-per-case. The new Marvel Legends Nick Fury may be especially problematic, since he is the army-builder figure in the set thanks to the alternate heads. Hopefully a revision case will give hardcore collectors a better case breakdown than this initial case.

Marvel Legends Captain America Civil War Giant-Man Series CardbacksThe Giant-Man Marvel Legends 6″ figures series will be available online and in stores in the United States… eventually. Unfortunately, we still have no idea exactly when these figures will be allowed to be put up for pre-order in the U.S., as Hasbro can’t open pre-orders until they get the go-ahead from Disney.

Alright, Marvel Legends 6″ collectors: sound off! Now that you’ve seen the final packaged figures from the Giant-Man Series–and the Giant Man Build-A-Figure itself–what do you think of the second wave of Captain America Legends figures for 2016? Will you be snatching up the whole set, picking and choosing your favorites, or passing on this wave altogether?

  1. Umm, why does it matter what piece comes with what figure? You need them all to build him.

    • Figures with heads and torsos tend to sell better. Maybe for custom purposes, maybe just because. Don’t ask me why.

  2. I think if someone is not interested in building the BAF, they are more likely to trade or sell the BAF piece off. If you don’t want another movie Cap, then look for someone selling the head on ebay and purchase it that way.

  3. Pass entirely. I can’t wait for the next spider-man wave. Especially classic electro and shocker!

    • Unfortunately, I read over att He fwoosh when that Hasbro Brazil leak came out that shocker is no longer in the lineup. Disappointed I know

      • Keep in mind that that “leak” has about as much credibility as a guy on a street corner, since it comes from one random person who claims they received an E-Mail from Hasbro Brazil sharing all of that confidential information.

I would hardly call that leak more credible than the actual UPC listings that we have for figures in U.S. Store computers.

  4. I don’t mind the size of the BAF. He’s clearly larger than than an average 6in figure and he’s still small enough to fit easily into most shelf displays. Win!

Looking forward to Panther and Fury, but so is everyone else : /

  5. Thankfully for me, I have no I treat in building this craptastic baf. I will only be buying the comic figs

    • I absolutely agree. To me this BAF choice is the worst yet(it could have just as easily gone to someone like Mr. Hyde or Armadillo) and I’m not too happy about the singles either. Whatever, less money spent.

  6. Not to quibble, but Red Guardian is WAY more obscure than Nuke, who has been featured in several major Cap, Daredevil, and Wolverine stories as well as in the Jessica Jones series on Netflix.

    • Eye of the beholder. Red Guardian is a character created in the 1960’s who recurred over the decades, whereas Nuke was created in 1986 and then didn’t reappear after his first appearances until like 2006. Due to being a classic Avengers character, I’d call Red Guardian less obscure than Nuke.

  7. Starting to wonder if I should just preorder the entire case, rather than hunt down the individual figures. I’d save a lot of gas money and not have to worry about finding the figure I need. Already planning on preordering the X-Men wave though.

  8. Can someone please help me with something? I really want to order this wave on KramerToyWarden because it’s already out and is a while of a hell lot cheaper in USD than what BBTS would be selling it for, but I’ve seen reviews where the figures may not be made with the best plastic compared to that of American Marvel Legends. Does anyone have any advice to help me out?

    • I can only imagine that it would be more trouble than it is worth for a factory to use multiple materials over multiple production runs for multiple markets. I have collected toys for a long time and I have never found any proof that this pervasive rumor has any shred of credibility. Knock-offs and over-runs are different, but if it comes from a Hasbro case in shelf-ready packaging, its the same things everyone gets.

      • Thank You SO MUCH! I am so getting this after the convention I’m going to. This will save me a lotof money.

  9. It’s nice to see some accessories with this set. The 10 heads and 1 BAF head has to be a new record!

    • Because its a helmet, its gonna be big. its a normal head inside of a helmet, naturally the head will be bigger.

  10. I think this is a Great Wave. Nuke, Red Guardian, Nick Fury (several for ‘Shield army building’), and even maybe Black Panther. Hasbro continues to give us great figures and I’m very happy I’ll be getting, at least, four characters out of this Wave.

  11. In the UK the movie figures are impossible to find whereas comic figures rot for years even at half price

  12. When this series hits, I will be picking up Nuke and immediately customizing him into a better Crossbones than the one we got. (Which is still commanding ridiculous aftermarket prices for some insane reason.)

While I’m not crazy about this being the third movie Cap in a row to use the same mold, this is a better on-screen representation of Cap’s costume than the weak Age of Ultron figure, even if this is pretty much the same figure as that one with darker blue. I’m pretty excited for Black Panther and Iron Man, who FINALLY gets a new mold! He needed one. I just wish Nick Fury were double-packed instead of Cap, because I want like three of him- one as Nick Fury and the other two as anonymous SHIELD troopers.

Also, I can’t wait for Red Guardian and Cap to end up on Amazon for, like, 12 bucks as this wave is on its way out the door.

  13. Is there going to be a civil war spiderman marvel legend and where do you guys get your marvel legends in the uk because I can never find any of these on shelves I’ve been looking for black panther everywhere and just can’t find him

    • It’s possible Hasbro is developing a Marvel Legends Civil War Spider-Man, but Disney isn’t allowing any merchandiser to show off movie Spider-Man merch at this time. I think it’s likely we won’t see one until 2017, honestly.

  14. Still no Vison figure, or Falcon? Stop doing us like this, marvel.

    • Falcon’s coming this summer as a Walmart exclusive. Vision… you’ll have to wait a wee bit longer for.

  15. Aight does anyone know why the heck the Giant man wave isn’t out yet or is it just where I live that they haven’t been released

    • The vast majority of the production run of the Giant-Man Series hasn’t hit stores yet. It’s like the Hulkbuster Series from last year that took 2-3 extra months to fully hit stores. It’s coming!
