Medicom Toy has drank the Spidey kool-aid and is diving deep into Spider-Man waters with their popular MAFEX figures series, producing a variety of figures from the comics, MCU movies and even Into The Spider-Verse. And now, having recently released their Infinity War Iron Spider, they’re going back to that well one more time: the MAFEX Endgame Iron Spider with Nano Gauntlet is now up for order! Does he differ enough from the original version to warrant a fresh purchase…?
Continue Reading →2019 was another year jam-packed with new Hasbro Marvel Legends MCU movie figures, with some amazing characters like Korg, the Collector, Luis and more getting their first-ever 6” action figures. But oddly enough, one of my absolute favorite ML movie figures of the year is of something that didn’t actually appear in a movie at all—the Marvel Legends Avengers Endgame War Machine figure! Even though this concept armor permutation wasn’t in Endgame, this toy is so good it seriously makes me wish that it had been…
Continue Reading →We’re down to a single digit number of days remaining in 2019, and since I’m not expecting too much more Marvel toy news before 2020 arrives (prove me wrong, collectibles companies!) I’ve lined up toy reviews for each day through the end of the year! And first up, it’s an appropriately long overdue review of a figure that came out long overdue following last year’s Black Panther movie! The Marvel Legends Shuri figure is 11 bucks shipped today—would she be 11 bucks well-spent for your collection…?
Continue Reading →From Jubilee and Boom Boom to Beast and Gambit, Hasbro fulfilled a record number of X-Men collectors’ dreams in 2019. And I’ve got one more left to talk about–of a figure I’ve been wanting for 27 years! The X-Men Arcade Game hit arcades in 1992, featuring five of the most iconic team members ever… and Dazzler! Alison Blaire was my go-to character in that game, and I’ve wanted a good action figure of her in that 80s costume practically all my life. I happily paid full price for her this summer, but the Marvel Legends Vintage Dazzler figure is 10 bucks online today–should you get one?
Continue Reading →Diamond Select Toys’ various Marvel statue lines are the gift that keeps on giving all year round for value-priced statue fans, and it’s no surprise that they’ve got another four items lined up for us to close out their 2019 solicitations! This quartet is mainly aimed at X-Men fans, but there’s some Avengers love as well: the Marvel Gallery Longshot and Emma Frost, Premier Collection Black Panther statue Animated Jean Grey bust are all up for order now! Is DST ending the year on a high note?
Continue Reading →It’s another slow Marvel toy news day as we tick down the clock to the end of 2019, so let’s dip pack into the cache of figures needing reviews again! This time, let’s have a look at the final figure I needed to review from the X-Men Legends Caliban Series. Believe it or not, this Marvel Legends Forge figure (who’s available online now at a decent discount) isn’t Hasbro’s first attempt at the character—they did him themselves a decade ago in this same costume! Is the second time for the Maker the charm…?
Continue Reading →Hasbro has been doling out fan service like never before to X-Men collectors over the course of 2019, including new versions of some of the most requested characters such as Beast, Jubilee, Dani Moonstar and Professor X. But perhaps the singular most exciting 6” X-Men Legends action figure of the year for most fans was an updated version of the Ragin’ Cajun himself! Hasbro double-packed the new Marvel Legends Gambit so he’d be readily and affordably available to everyone—but is this long-awaited Jim Lee Gambit 90s figure up to snuff?
Continue Reading →2020 is fast-approaching, and for Mezco ONE:12 Collective figure collectors, one of the first figures arriving in the new year will be the ONE:12 Collective Moon Knight figure that went up for sale back in the spring! But while fans have already had a good half year-plus wait for the classic all-white Moon Knight figure, Mezco Toyz gave a sneak peek this year with the convention exclusive modern Moon Knight variant figure! And while this is not the costume that most are familiar with, that doesn’t mean that it isn’t a total win for Mezco…
Continue Reading →Kotobukiya has been steadily pumping out new Marvel ARTFX Premier statues ever since the line debuted at New York Toy Fair 2019 in February, with the series of premium PVC figures already in the double-digits heading into 2020. There have been some colorful choices thus far such as Loki and Cosmic Ghost Rider, but the latest is the most out-of-left-field yet: the Kotobukiya Silk ARTFX Premier statue is now up for order! How’s it look—and does an audience for merch of this character still exist…?
Continue Reading →The clock is running out on 2019, and with the 2020 waves just around the corner, there are going to be a multitude of this year’s Marvel Legends action figures that I just never get around to reviewing. But one of those neglected figures won’t be Beta Ray Bill! By special request from MTN followers on social media, I dug out Thor’s hammer-brother and gave him a second look! Marvel Legends Beta Ray Bill is available discounted online now–should you be giving him another look as well?
Continue Reading →While Sideshow Collectibles’ Marvel sixth scale figures line got off to a rocky start with a 1/6 Deadpool that’s still available over half a decade after going up for sale (seriously), the figures that came after him sold much better—including the Brown Costume Wolverine that swiftly sold out and escalated in value on the aftermarket. Turns out demand for Logan wasn’t met, many collectors cried out for more, and here he is: the 1/6 Sideshow Wolverine Tiger Stripe figure is now up for order!
Continue Reading →Last month, Iron Studios debuted their mind-blowingly X-Men vs. Sentinel statue that, while amazing, 99%+ of collectors could (or would) never, ever pay ~$1800 for. But all is not lost for X-Men fans with smaller display areas (or smaller credit limits)! Iron Studios had a plan for those collectors as well, and after a few weeks of slowly rolling them out, affordably-priced Iron Studios Cyclops, Wolverine, Beast and Rogue statues are all up for order individually! If you can’t have these with the massive Sentinel diorama, are worth the investment?
Continue Reading →Back in October, collectors got their first taste of what Pop Culture Shock (PCS) Collectibles can do with their magnificent (and incredibly expensive) 1:3 Spider-Man PS4 resin statue. As gorgeous as that piece is (and it is gorgeous), it’s also out of the price range of 95%+ of collectors. But PCS also had a few affordable buns in the oven: super cheap GamerVerse Spider-Man & Rhino PVC statues are now up for pre-order! And that’s not all—value-priced PVCs of other members of the Sinister Six are seemingly on the way as well…
Continue Reading →Just when we thought we were safe from any more Hasbro Marvel Legends pre-orders in 2019, we got a shock mid-December surprise from Hasbro this morning: the Marvel Legends Black Widow Movie series of figures is now up for order in both full cases and as individuals of every character!
Collectors have been calling out for Diamond Select Toys to make a movie Thanos action figure since long before Avengers Infinity War ever came out—and now, they’ve got their wish: Disney Store Exclusive Marvel Select Thanos, Captain Marvel and Hulk figures are now up for order!
