We’re now approaching a full two years to the day when Sideshow Collectibles unveiled the three initial statues in their Mark Brooks Spider-Man statue line at New York Comic Con 2017. After nearly two years with no new additions to that trio, it would stand to reason that the series was dead, right…? Wrong! Blindsiding basically everybody, Sideshow surprise-teaser another entry last week, and now it’s officially on the way: the Sideshow Exclusive Mark Brooks Black Cat Statue is now up for order!
Continue Reading →The consequence of getting an explosive number of Marvel Legends reveals at the major conventions each year is that we tend to fall into news droughts between shows. And so, with a month to go until NYCC 2019, there’s not much fresh news to talk about—but there’s still plenty of new figures to review! Marvel Legends Silver Samurai from the X-Men Vintage Series is readily available online despite being a top request of collectors for years—but is any part of that the figure’s fault…?
Continue Reading →Even though Hasbro has released quite a few super-articulated figures of Cyclops over the past few years (with costumes spanning the Silver Age to Jim Lee to Marvel NOW), there’s always a big demand for versions of the most iconic leader of the X-Men. So I was rather surprised today to see that the Vintage X-Men Legends Cyclops figure is both readily available and discounted to 15 bucks shipped online. Deciding this warranted investigation, I chose this Marvel Legends Cyclops as the subject of today’s review…
Continue Reading →Spider-Man collectors had a legit reason to fear we’d only be getting MCU Spidey variants from Hot Toys this year as part of the Spider-Man Far From Home MMS Series. For a variety of reasons, Lizard got no 1/6 figure; Rhino got no 1/6 figure; Vulture got no 1/6 figure. But tragedy (okay, maybe not tragedy in Rhino’s case) shan’t repeat itself again, and FFH Spidey won’t have to go enemy-less: the Hot Toys Mysterio figure is now up for order! We had to wait a long time for this announcement and it’ll be longer still for him to arrive—will this 1:6 Mysterio be worth it?
Continue Reading →Ready or not, here New York Comic Con 2019 comes! We’re under one month out from NYCC 2019 now, and while it’s unclear exactly how full of new announcements and products this year’s show will be (and we likely won’t know until the event actually begins), we at least now know a handful of the NYCC 2019 Exclusives: Funko POP Stan Lee in Spacesuit, Captain Mar-Vell, Classic Nick Fury & Ms. Marvel and more!
Continue Reading →As unlikely as it may be, the final member of the Jim Lee X-Men Marvel Legends figures lineup that Hasbro needed to create wasn’t one of the more obscure characters like Jubilee or Bishop—it was actually among the most popular and iconic: Storm! But at long last, the Vintage X-Men Marvel Legends Storm figure is shipping out from online retailers and quickly selling out on store shelves—but is this the definitive Ororo Monroe for the ages we’ve all been waiting for?
Continue Reading →Largely thanks to their ever-expanding X-Men statues range, Sideshow Collectibles has claimed more of my money in 2019 than ever before. And while my wallet is cowering and begging for mercy, my heart is absolutely twitterpated to drop another future 700 bucks today. Because a new statue thousands of fans have asked for for years finally launches today: the Sideshow EXCLUSIVE Gambit Premium Format Figure is now up for order! The Ragin’ Cajun is charming his way into our collections again…!
Continue Reading →If there’s one thing you can count on with Marvel Hot Toys sixth scale figures, it’s that popular versions of main characters will almost without fail get exorbitantly expensive on the aftermarket once they’re sold out. Such was the case with the Homecoming Homemade Suit Spider-Man, which exploded to more than double its original price on the aftermarket this year. But HT has heard the cries of fans loud and clear: a reissue Hot Toys Homemade Suit Spider-Man Figure with new Mysterio Drone and other cool accessories is now up for order!
Continue Reading →While the big Marvel Legends news last week was Hasbro giving fans what they’ve been asking for for years with that Alpha Flight Legends Box set of six figures, that wasn’t the only exclusive Hasbro announced! While it’s certainly not on the same level of “blockbuster” news as the Alpha Flight set, and I wouldn’t necessarily say anybody has been asking for it, an Exclusive Marvel Legends Stealth Invincible Iron Man Figure is also now up for order! Those waiting restlessly for a Tron-ish armor with an almost-lightsaber, your time has come!
Continue Reading →Bowen Designs is a company that’s been on my tongue a lot lately since we’ve seen a small resurgence of mini-busts this year and even a Sideshow Wolverine bust last week that’s basically an updated version of the original Bowen version. And this week, the ante is being raised even higher, as we’ve got what’s essentially an update of a whole Bowen Designs 1/6 Statue: the Kotobukiya Thanos on Throne Fine Arts Statue is now up for order! Is it a worthy upgrade to the one released almost a decade ago?
Continue Reading →The last few years, Hasbro has always saved a little something extra to reveal at Fan Expo Canada. In 2017, it was the Marvel Legends Sasquatch Build-A-Figure. And in 2018, Hasbro debuted Wendigo and Guardian. But this year, Hasbro wasn’t stopping at premiering just one or two figures–they dropped the curtain on an entire six-figure team set: the Amazon Exclusive Marvel Legends Alpha Flight figures box set is now up for order! If you’ve been waiting for NorthStar and Aurora, dreaming of Snowbird or trying to save up for a Puck BAF, this is the set for you!
Continue Reading →As prices continue to rise on large resin statues, we’re seeing a mini-resurgence of Marvel mini-busts this year with new offerings coming from Sideshow, DST and Gentle Giant. Sideshow kicked off their new line of smaller busts earlier this year with a cool Thanos, but now they’ve upped the ante with a cheaper—and more impressive—second piece: the Sideshow Wolverine Bust is now available for order! This might be the best half of a Wolverine statue I’ve ever seen…! But they’re not the only ones launching a Logan bust today…
Continue Reading →It’s been a relatively uneventful week thus far for Marvel toy news, but that’s well and good with me since I’ve got a mighty stack of new Marvel Legends figure reviews to catch up on! And after looking at the headliner of the X-Force series (Nightcrawler) last time, it’s time to turn attention to the other most-hyped figure in the Wendigo Series! We last saw him in the Toybiz Sentinel series 14 years ago—has Hasbro’s recently-released Marvel Legends Mr. Sinister figure managed to improve upon Toybiz’s original version…?
Continue Reading →Although he’s universally-loved and in the upper-echelon X-Men popularity with fans, we haven’t gotten an official Marvel Legends Nightcrawler figure since the Toybiz Galactus wave in 2005. Wild! That was a terrific figure that stands the test of time, but Hasbro was finally ready to release their own Kurt Wagner this year! Despite being two per case, this Nightcrawler figure is selling out rapidly in stores and online! Is X-Force Marvel Legends Nightcrawler as good as the hype would have you believe?
Continue Reading →It’s the summer of Psylocke, as not only did the Sideshow Premium Format figure of her begin arriving this month, but now her first-ever (and almost certainly only ever) Marvel Select figure has started hitting comic book stores as well! Amazon delayed their own pre-orders to September for whatever reason, but EE has Marvel Select Psylocke in-stock for shipping right now: did DST’s Betsy Braddock 7” figure turn out good enough to own?
