Marvel Legends 2016 Absorbing Man Series Up for Order!

It’s been a long wait since the series was revealed at San Diego Comic-Con 2015 back in July, but the time has come at last: the first wave of Spider-Man Marvel Legends 2016 figures is now available for order! Sometimes we have to wait until January to roll around to get our first batch of a new year’s Hasbro Marvel Legends 6″ figures, and sometimes we do not. This time is the latter, thankfully–not only can we order the new 2016 Marvel Legends Spider-Man Infinite Series figures this month–they’re supposed to be delivered this month as well!

Marvel Legends 2016 Spider-Man Absorbing Man Series Figures Case

We’ve known since summer just what figures would be making up the inaugural 2016 Spider-Man Legends series of Hasbo 6″ figures, but we didn’t know what accessories each figure would be coming with and what pieces of the Crusher Creel Absorbing Man Build-A-Figure… until now!

The case assortment for the 2016 Marvel Legends Spider-Man Absorbing Man Case is as follows:

(2) Ben Reilly Spider-Man with Carnage Head and Absorbing Man Arms
(1) Spider-Gwen with Alternate Head and Ball & Chain
(1) Jack O’ Lantern with Absorbing Man Leg
(1) Female Beetle with Absorbing Man Leg
(1) Classic Venom with Absorbing Man Heads
(1) Speed Demon with Silvermane RC Car and Absorbing Man Torso
(1) Morbius with Absorbing Man Transformed Arms

Marvel Legends 2016 Ben Reilly Spider-Man FigureI know that some folks might groan at the notion of a Spider-Man variant being heavily-packed in the first new ML case assortment of 2016, but in this case it is again warranted. Ben Reilly Spider-Man (the Sensational Spider-Man) is a popular non-Peter Parker character, and since the Scarlet Spider released last year has sold really well, I’d expect Ben Reilly Spider-Man to as well.

In addition, an extra Carnage head is included to create a Marvel Legends Spider-Carnage figure, which plenty of people are going to want to build and have alongside a regular Ben Reilly Spidey!

But if you absolutely can’t stand the idea of having a double of Spider-Man, there’s a revision case coming out the following month with eschews the extra Ben Reilly and includes a second Marvel Legends Venom figure instead! Personally I’d have double-packed the Marvel Legends Spider-Gwen figure, but Hasbro is taking the safe and tested path by heavy-packing Venom. Tough to find fault with that!

2016 Marvel Legends Spider-Man Absorbing Man Series Revision CaseThe Marvel Legends Absorbing Man Series figures are now available for order, and are scheduled to ship out in December 2015. I have a hunch that this series is going to be hot, seeing as how it contains the super-demanded Spider-Gwen figure and is the first new Marvel Legends Infinite Series assortment since last summer! If you want to get this set early, I’d recommend pre-ordering ASAP, as the cases will be first-come first-serve, and there’s going to be a lot of collectors ordering this series.

Now that we have official confirmation of the case ratios and release date, will you be ordering the Marvel Legends Absorbing Man Build-A-Figure Series, Marvel collectors?

  1. I’m looking forward to Venom the most, but I’m gonna have to pick up that Ben Reilly just for Spider-Carnage

  2. I’ll be waiting on these to go on sale. Almost everything released this past year has been easy to find and reduced in cost at one time or another. Not like a few years back and even earlier than that.

    • I’m still recovering from the ROML era where things were poorly distributed and impossible to find in some places on the East coast. I have a long way to go before I reach your apparent level of ease with supply.

      • I’m in the Midwest, (Ohio), and haven’t had a problem finding any of the regular Series since GotG. That Series wasn’t terribly hard to find, but it was only around twice and not that long. The two Exclusive X-Men Series were a challenge, but I knew better and pre-ordered. Almost every figure from the Mandroid Series on is available locally, and most are on sale.

The Rocket Raccoon, Hit Monkey, and Epic Heroes Waves were a challenge too. The variants from Terrax and Arnim Zola were almost impossible to find around here.

Pro Tip- Hit up local shows and cons. Always great deals to be had, and at the least cool people to chat with.

  3. I love how most of these figures come with accessories. I have always wanted figures that came with more accessories.

  4. I don’t understand all the love for that Venom, personally I think the scale and look of the Marvel Select is significantly better.

    • Yeah, but that Venom is hard to find and expensive right now, and is pretty huge compared to most Legends figures. Marvel Select Venom is the best Venom figure EVER, but I don’t know that he fits into many Marvel Legends dioramas appropriately (or affordably).

      • I have the Select and he fits perfectly(imo) in scale with my Legends Spidey. In my mind Venom is larger than Spider-Man and that Legends figure looks pretty much the same size as the entire wave.

    • As always, Select has better sculpts, but the articulation is pathetic.
The Legends Venom looks DRAMATICALLY better with the alternate tongue head, and he’s properly articulated.
Sculptwise and sizewise he’s still not quite the Legends Venom I want either, but he’s still probably the best option we have thus far.

      • Personally I’d rather take a great sculpt and paint apps with just good articulation over great articulation with mediocre sculpt and paint apps.
