As a mega-fan of 1990s Marvel Comics, I’ve been wanting a super-articulated action figure of Maximum Carnage fan-favorite Dopperlganger Spider ever since I was a pre-teen. While I was hyped when word leaked out he was in the works, I was mortified when I realized what his body mold choice was going to be. Now that the Marvel Legends Doppelganger Spider-Man is readily available online, I finally got up the courage to spend some time with him and render judgment in my review…

We’re now approaching a full two years to the day when Sideshow Collectibles unveiled the three initial statues in their Mark Brooks Spider-Man statue line at New York Comic Con 2017. After nearly two years with no new additions to that trio, it would stand to reason that the series was dead, right…? Wrong! Blindsiding basically everybody, Sideshow surprise-teaser another entry last week, and now it’s officially on the way: the Sideshow Exclusive Mark Brooks Black Cat Statue is now up for order!

Spider-Man collectors had a legit reason to fear we’d only be getting MCU Spidey variants from Hot Toys this year as part of the Spider-Man Far From Home MMS Series. For a variety of reasons, Lizard got no 1/6 figure; Rhino got no 1/6 figure; Vulture got no 1/6 figure. But tragedy (okay, maybe not tragedy in Rhino’s case) shan’t repeat itself again, and FFH Spidey won’t have to go enemy-less: the Hot Toys Mysterio figure is now up for order! We had to wait a long time for this announcement and it’ll be longer still for him to arrive—will this 1:6 Mysterio be worth it?

If there’s one thing you can count on with Marvel Hot Toys sixth scale figures, it’s that popular versions of main characters will almost without fail get exorbitantly expensive on the aftermarket once they’re sold out. Such was the case with the Homecoming Homemade Suit Spider-Man, which exploded to more than double its original price on the aftermarket this year. But HT has heard the cries of fans loud and clear: a reissue Hot Toys Homemade Suit Spider-Man Figure with new Mysterio Drone and other cool accessories is now up for order!

Another week, another company getting in on some of that sweet, sweet Miles Morales merch money! Up until now, Good Smile Company has had their Marvel Nendoroids focus squarely on characters with their own live-action movies—but the success of Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse was too monumental to ignore, and the Nendoroid Miles Morales Spider-Man figure is now up for order! The DX version comes with loads of accessories including a whole second body—but is this 4” figure worthy of his $80+ MSRP?

When you’ve been collecting Marvel toys for over two decades, you’re bound to have some regrets of pieces you’ve missed. Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse was a rare surprise hit for the modern superhero movie genre, as ordinarily these days it’s expected that most superhero movies have blockbuster potential. But Into the Spider-Verse came and conquered, and now collectibles companies are racing to catch up and claim their cut! Kotobukiya is next up at bat with the first in a series of 1:10 Scale statues from the film: the Kotobukiya Into the Spider-Verse Miles Morales ARTFX PVC figure is now up for order!

Spider-Man is indeed the new Iron Man as far as Hot Toys is seemingly concerned. Hot Toys quickly created every suit from the first two MCU Spider-Man movies in sixth scale form, and now they’ve got something… bigger… on their minds! For the first time ever, Hot Toys is creating a non-Iron Man 1/4 character from the MCU: the Hot Toys Quarter-Scale Spider-Man figure is now up for order in deluxe and regular versions! He’s bigger than ever—with a bigger than ever price as well…

While the vast majority of headlines in the Marvel toy news world over the past week have appropriately been centered on the happenings from San Diego Comic Con 2019, that doesn’t mean there weren’t some exciting goings-on occurring elsewhere–including at the Medicom Toy Expo in Japan over the weekend! Fans dreaming of a definitive 6″ Miles Morales from the recent animated movie are getting their wish: a MAFEX Into the Spider-Verse Miles Morales figure is now up for order! And for the Spidery comic book fans, Medicom has a zany comic version of their popular MAFEX Spider-Man as well…

Hasbro broke Marvel Legends collectors’ wallets with dozens of new figures going up for pre-order during San Diego Comic Con this week—but now that that little matter of business is done with, it’s time to look ahead to next year! And in 2020, Marvel Legends is taking no prisoners with high-profile new releases in the pipeline including Squirrel Girl, Cosmic Ghost Rider, Vulture, Strong Guy—and even a Marvel Legends X-Men Age of Apocalypse series!

Hasbro has been on a roll this year revisiting fan-favorite characters that haven’t been done since the Toybiz days, and that trend continues with today’s review. Marvel Legends Hydro-Man seemed like a shoe-in to be a quick sellout online with his unique design and appearance in Spider-Man Far From Home, but he’s stuck around longer at MSRP longer than I would have predicted. Are people overlooking a hidden gem with this Hydro-Man Legends figure, or has Hasbro misfired with this release?

Hasbro hit collectors up with a trio of unannounced and unexpected exclusive Marvel Legends 80th Anniversary Figures this spring/summer, when they put the Marvel Legends Anti-Venom, Cowboy Logan and Big-Time Spider-Man Figures up for order! When POs opened, we had a single glam shot of each figure to make our pre-ordering decision based on. But if one image isn’t enough for you (and really, it shouldn’t be), Hasbro has now sent out several new hi-res images of all three figures!

Hasbro has been pretty on-the-ball with giving collectors pretty much every major Marvel Studios villain in 6” Marvel Legends form (sorry Malekith and Kaecillius—you don’t rate), so it wasn’t a big plot twist when they revealed we’d be getting a movie-based Marvel Legends Mysterio figure from Spider-Man Far From Home as well. Packed at just one-per-case, the new 2019 Marvel Legends Mysterio figure is already sold out on Amazon, still available for pre-order from other online retailers and likely to be a tough grab at retail. Is he worth all the fuss?

While last week was all about Hulk, this week the spotlight has predictably turned to the hero whose next superhero movie is under a week away: the Amazing Spider-Man! Following up hot new solicits from other companies, Sideshow Collectibles is finally ready to launch the Spidey they premiered at NYCC 2018 last October: the Sideshow Exclusive Spider-Man Premium Format Figure is now up for order! Do the eyes have it—is this another “EX or bust” piece?
