Deadpool was actually the very first character I ever bought a full-body resin statue for, way back in 2005 (from Bowen Designs). So you could say I was a Deadpool-collecting fanboy before Deadpool was cool—or at least since before he was gratuitously merchandised. As such, I was primed and ready to buy whatever Deadpool Iron Studios put out as soon as they announced it was on the way. Deadpool turns out to be one of the most expensive entries in the whole X-Men BDS statues lineup… but that doesn’t mean he’s necessarily one of the best…

It’s the third Friday of the month, which means it’s once again time to enjoy a new batch of Diamond Select Toys solicitations! DST is spreading out their love to a more diverse range of brands than usual in their September 2022 solicitations, but they’ve also got some new and returning collectibles for Marvel fans as well: the Marvel Gallery Immortal Hulk diorama, Animated Loki statue and several Marvel Select figure reissues are now up for order!
Continue Reading →general consensus I’m hearing about the new Marvel Legends Sabretooth figure that went up for pre-order this week is that fans think the first appearance look is novel… but what they really want is a buff 90s styled Sabretooth. While it may be another year (or more until Hasbro gets to that iteration, fans wanting a killer representation of Creed in this approximate scale sooner aren’t entirely out of luck. The recent X-Men Iron Studios Sabretooth statue is just about the right size figure, and a real beauty of a 1:10 statue as well…
Continue Reading →cancellation of New York Toy Fair 2021 took the whole collecting world by surprise, and is the likely cause of the recent dearth of new Marvel toy news and announcements. But Hasbro is coming to the rescue today with a bevy of new X-Men Legends figures going up for order that we’ve been waiting for the chance to buy since late last year: the 2022 Marvel Legends X-Men Bonebreaker Series is finally up for order!

It was when Iron Studios actually solicited a resin statue of Pyro that I knew they were dead serious about making their 1:10 scale X-Men Battle Diorama Series the deepest range of X-Men statues ever made–and also when I started to get really, really excited about the line. Now that he’s in-hand at an affordable-ish ~$160, is this fiery former member of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants worth his price-tag?
Continue Reading →The long-running and prolific Marvel Gallery PVC statues series and Marvel Animated statues line (based on Skottie Young’s designs ) took a rare break last month with no new pieces solicited, but both lines are BACK with all-new entries as part of the Diamond Select Toys February 2022 solicitations: the Marvel Animated Sam Wilson Captain America statue and Marvel Gallery Psylocke statue are now up for pre-order!
Continue Reading →As a 13-year-old boy in 1995, the very notion of Magneto himself serving as the founder and leader of the X-Men—even in an alternate reality—completely blew my mind. X-Men Age of Apocalypse served as my favorite comic book storyline ever for over 20 years, and while AOA Magneto was never my favorite character from the story, I still happily gobbled up the 5” Toybiz AOA Magneto figure and its repaint. But 26 years later, I was ready for an upgrade, and Hasbro has delivered: the Marvel Legends Age of Apocalypse Magneto figure is now available! Is it a worthy successor to Toybiz’s version two and a half decades later?
Continue Reading →hardcore X-Men fanboy-ism was born in the early 90s, so I have vivid memories of thinking Bishop was the coolest and most badass dude ever. The ripped, arms-wielding enforcer from the future was a central character and plot element for years after his arrival, and I was delighted to buy his first-ever mini bust and statue from Bowen Designs a good decade-plus ago. And now, I’ve added another resin Bishop to my collection. The 1/10 scale Iron Studios Bishop statue is now shipping—is it worth having this time-traveler travel to your home? Here’s my review…
Continue Reading →One thing about Marvel collecting we can count on reliably as we head into 2022 is that Diamond Select Toys will keep consistently churning out all-new Marvel collectibles basically every single month, just as they’ve been doing for just about two decades now. And while their latest round of solicits included just one pair of Marvel-themed items, both are good sculptures that will appeal highly to value-priced collectors: the X-Men Animated Professor X and deluxe Marvel Gallery Green Goblin statue are now available for order!
Continue Reading →X-Men 92 has a long-standing legacy with fans as being among the greatest superhero cartoons of all-time. It’s also how mutants permeated my 10-year-old brain, beginning my life-long love of the X-Men. So when I was given a chance to have a review sample of the Diamond Select Toys X-Men Animated Series Gambit mini bust by Entertainment Earth, I jumped at the opportunity. Now that I’ve spent some time with the first resin Gambit animated statue ever, does the Rajun Cajun spark as much love from me as he did almost 30 years ago?
Continue Reading →brought their A-game for the final Hasbro Pulse Marvel stream of the year, debuting far more than just the Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness wave during the event. Not only did Hasbro reveal and open pre-orders for the exclusive Marvel Legends 20th Anniversary Hulk figure (no Toad just yet, sadly), but they also surprise-debuted all eight figures in the X-Men Legends 2022 series as well—including Siryn, First Appearance Sabretooth, the Bonebreaker Build-A-Figure and more!
Continue Reading →Some readers were upset by the drubbing I gave poor Age of Apocalypse Cyclops in his review, so I figured I’d jump from reviewing the worst figure in Marvel Legends AOA wave 2 to the best. You’ll have to purchase almost this whole X-Men Legends series to put him together, but the Marvel Legends Age of Apocalypse Colossus figure actually ends up being more than worth the trouble and expense of getting all the pieces from a fairly star-studded wave…
Continue Reading →Sideshow Collectibles must have heard me complaining last week about the dearth of new additions to their 1/4 scale X-Men statue series, because shortly thereafter, an all-new Sideshow Exclusive Nightcrawler Premium Format Figure statue went up for pre-order! It’s the first new Nightcrawler statue to go up for sale in many years—does it look like it will be worth quarter-scale big bucks?
Continue Reading →Cyclops is a character that has oftentimes been accused of being boring over the years (perhaps because of his straight-laced boy scout personality). But in the Age of Apocalypse, Cyclops was a badass rebel with stubbly facial hair and only one eye remaining after a brutal battle where he blasted off Wolverine’s left hand. Scott Summers was a lock for the recently released Age of Apocalypse Legends Wave 2, but ironically, Cyclops’ alternate reality 6” figure ends up as boring as his 616 character is accused of being…
Continue Reading →Sideshow Collectibles’ once rapidly-expanding lineup of 1/4 Premium Format X-Men statues has slowed to a glacial pace over the last two years, but Iron Studios is picking up the slack and popping out 1/10 X-Men statues at an unprecedented rate—including never-before-done-as-statues characters like Spiral and even Elsie-Dee/Albert! It seems with their smaller, more affordable Battle Diorama Series, Iron Studios has hit a sweet spot with modern collectors with limited space and disposable funds! As they captured my full attention long, long ago, I figured it was high time I review something from the X-Men line: focusing on the Deluxe Magneto Iron Studios BDS statue!
