Toy Fair 2016: NECA Hulk 1/4 Figure Up for Order!

NECA has been teasing their 1/4 Marvel collectors with him for several years now, but finally, finally… NECA has a Hulk! And not just any Hulk, but a really, really big Hulk! Standing a full 24″ (two feet!) tall, it’s the biggest quarter-scale action figure NECA has ever made: the NECA 1/4 Hulk figure is now up for order and debuts in public at New York Toy Fair 2016 this weekend!

NECA Toys has been developing their quarter-scale Hulk figure for so long now that even though he was intended to be part of the first Avengers movie lineup initially, he’s actually going to be branded for the second Avengers movie–“Avengers: Age of Ultron”. Oh, and he’ll also be hitting stores over a year after AOU left theaters.

Now that’s a long development period–!

Luckily, it looks like all of NECA’s efforts have borne fruit, because even though the prototype still isn’t final, their two-foot tall Hulk action figure is looking pretty awesome!

To get an idea of just how monstrously huge this Bruce Banner figure is, take into consideration that all of the NECA Avengers figures in these photos that are being used for scale are as large as a Sideshow Premium Format Statue. Then, note how this Hulk is towering over all of them. Yeah. This is one big boy!

This is going to be a really impressive piece to see in person, and I’m definitely loking forward to it as one of my 2016 Toy Fair International highlights this weekend!

Oftentimes the cost is kept down on large-scale action figures by making them not very well-articulated. That’s not the case with this Hulk 1/4 figure, though–he’s got a nearly Marvel Legends-level articulation scheme, with more than 25 points of articulation built into this beast!

The Hulk quarter-scale figure is expected to weigh around 21 pounds (yikes!), and will include softgoods shorts and two pairs of interchangeable hands (fists and grabbing hands). The shorts don’t look perfect to me just yet, but they’re also still not final.

Now, about the price. There’s some bad news about the price–but also some good news! The bad news is that as a 100% new sculpt and the largest NECA action figure ever, Hulk is also sporting their highest MSRP ever: $299.99!

At that price, this Hulk is both larger and cheaper than any Hot Toys Hulk that’s come before!

I haven’t decided if I ultimately need a Hulk this large or not, but I placed a reservation for him nonetheless so that if I do end up wanting him, I don’t pay full price.

What do you think of the finally-revealed NECA Toys Hulk, Marvel collectors? Is their room in your heart (and your home) for one of the largest Marvel action figures ever made?

  1. I… Hmmm….. I’m stuck somewhere between thinking
Marvel’s letting this get out of hand, and it’s starting to seem like literally every company is making the same stuff at every random scale, to the point where even if I had the space, money and desire, I can’t even keep track of them all to know what’s even available, so I couldn’t do it anyway
    VS
with this much competition in every size category, maybe some of these prices on Marvel Legends and Sixth Scale Hot Toys figures will be driven down, or those lines will be forced to get better in order to compete.

    • I think today’s news that Hasbro is doing detailed 12 inch figures and trying to make more high end props is Hasbro’s direct response to this. There’s all these other companies making Marvel merchandise that’s of much higher quality (and a price point), so these seem to be Hasbro’s attempt at offering collectors a budget priced alternative.

      • I’m pretty sure the new 12″ Legends line is in response to and to directly compete with other 12″ figures, not this 2 foot tall behemoth.

        • I didn’t literally mean this. Obviously they weren’t gonna be able to make a rival line for a figure that was just unveiled today. The “this” was the situation they were talking about with all the other rival toy companies putting out high end Marvel stuff and flooding the collector’s market.
