Marvel Select Civil War Figures Announced! Bucky & More!

When Diamond Select Toys opted to release a comics-based Marvel Select Winter Soldier figure back in 2014 instead of a movie-based version of the character to coincide with the release of the “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” movie, there was much whining to be heard throughout the Marvel Figure Collecting Land. But next year, DST is finally giving those fans what they want: the Marvel Select Captain America Civil War figures are now up for order, and they include movie-based Bucky Barnes, Captain America and Iron Man Mark 45 figures!

Marvel Select Captain America Civil War Figures

The long drought of no Marvel Select announcements has come to an end at last! It feels like eternity since the last new mass-released Marvel Select figure was shown off–and it sort of was, as the Marvel Select Doctor Strange debuted at the New York Toy Fair 2015 way, way back in February!

The DST Doctor Strange figure has now already been released in stores, so we knew it was only a matter of time until Diamond had some new Marvel Select 7″ figure announcements for us–and they came today in the form of a trio of Marvel Select Civil War movie figures! Silhouettes must be en vogue this week, because like Hasbro, DST has revealed their 2016 figures in silhouette form!

Marvel Select Civil War Winter Soldier Figure SilhouetteFirst up, we’ve got the figure that is almost certainly going to be the “hot” one from this trio: the first-ever Marvel Select Bucky movie figure! Fans really wanted a movie version of Bucky Barnes when “The Winter Soldier” was in theaters, and obviously Diamond Select Toys was listening.

We obviously can’t tell much about this figure from the outline here, but we can see that it’s the long-haired Sebastian Stan Bucky we’ve come to know and love in the MCU, and he’ll include a rifle accessory. He should also feature the customary Marvel Select 16 points of articulation scheme.

Marvel Select Iron Man Mark 45 Civil War Figure

In addition to the Bucky action figure, the remaining two characters released will be Marvel Select Civil War Iron Man Mark XLV and Captain America figures. Let the complaining begin!

But seriously–even though DST has released numerous movie figures of both Captain America and Iron Man in the past, it’s been a while for both of these ultra-popular characters. There hasn’t been a new Marvel Select Iron Man movie toy since the Mark XLII in 2013, and the last Captain America movie figure was the Stealth Suit version in spring 2014.

Neither character got an Age of Ultron figure release (which, by the way, many fans also complained about), so we’re definitely due for new versions of the characters that are leading each side of the squabble.

Marvel Select Civil War Captain America FigureThe Marvel Select Captain America: Civil War figures are now available for order, and are scheduled to be released in May 2016. All Diamond Select Toys Marvel movie figures are one-run only and will never be reissued, so many of the figures frequently sell out well before they’re even released. Word of advice: If you think you’re going to want any of these figures–particularly Bucky–you’d do well to lock in a pre-order for them early.

Are you excited for the three figures that DST chose as their representatives for next year’s Civil War movie, or were you dead set on different characters? What sort of variants would you like to see released of these figures as Disney Store exclusives (if any)?

Marvel Select Civil War Figures Announced! Bucky & More! — 14 Comments

  1. Wooooow que bien …. otro cap y otro ironman y van cuantos ? Y bucky !! Marvel select se a vuelto repetitivo y muy muy aburrido

    • I think if they do any X-Men characters they have to be the comics version. I don’t think they can make figures from Fox’s X-Men movies. There was a Jennifer Lawrence Mystique figure that was canned that looked really nice.

I would really, really love a Marvel Select comics Psylocke figure though as she is my favorite character.

  2. I have to disagree with Enano, sorry man, but I don’t have any Iron Man movie figures and the comic figures they release look retarded so I don’t bother with them. Even the latest Bleeding Edge figure, I just don’t like the sculpt. I’m excited about this one and now I can get one at 25$ instead of $60.00 or whatever they are selling for online now. Although I don’t need another movie Captain America since his last movie figure, I am excited to see the movie version of Bucky.

Anyone want to guess some of the other 2016 lineup?
    I am guessing:

    Either Psylocke or Rogue
    Apocalypse
2 Avengers 3 releases…. War Machine, Scarlet Witch or new movie Thanos
Sinister 6 – Spidey and either Sandman or a new Doctor Octavius
    Netflix Daredevil
    Black Panther

    Those are my guesses.

      • I understand. They do make Thor and Hulk, among others, a WHOLE lot. I too wish we could get more obscure characters, but they can’t please everyone all the time. I agree that Juggernaut was way Awesome. More X-Men characters, please! I’ll die happy if they make Psylocke. Sad but true. The Marvel Legends are cool because they have a lot of variety, but they don’t have the same touch that Select has because Legends uses the same molds all the time. I like Select for display, and if I got into make stop motion videos for fun, then Legends would be the way to go for sure.

  3. It would be great if they stopped giving us the usual suspects for once. Like Thor, iron man, captain America, hulk. I think they really missed the ball with AOU with not putting out a Scarlett Witch or Quick Silver. Everyone was waiting on that, or even vision! Those were the new introduction heroes to the franchise that they did nothing with????!!!!!! Yet they put out a boring and pointless dark world Jane Foster???????? It just makes know sense, however I am loving the old school Dr. strange! NOW just bring on old school NAMOR with winged akcles and all will be perfect in marvel select world.

  4. Got Bucky on PO! Can’t wait to see how it turns out! Been wanting a movie Winter Soldier since the film came out.

  5. I think thats black panther judging by the hands, he probably has swappable heads.

And I bet Spider-Man will pop up immediately after the movie

  6. I think u mean mark 46 not 45 mark 45 isn’t in civil war even though I got them mixed up sometimes too.

    • Nope, I mean the Mark 45. That’s the figure that DST has solicited, and presumably the one coming out in this wave.

  7. Stephen, which picture do you think is Black Panther with his hands & interchangeable heads ?!? Do you mean the silhouette of Cap ? The Captain America figure that there’re announcing here in the article. Unless there’s a picture I can’t see. Sorry, I really don’t mean to come over as a d*ck. But did you actually read it. Just asking.
