Marvel Titan Hero Giant-Man Civil War Set Released!

Due to Disney’s late decision to try to keep merchandisers from revealing the presence of Giant-Man in Civil War, not only were few people surprised when he appeared in the movie, but he didn’t get nearly as much fanfare or as many toys as he should have. But for those who don’t want to shell out $120 for the Marvel Legends Giant-Man Build-A-Figure, a consolation prize has now appeared: an exclusive box set with a 12″ Titan Hero Giant-Man!

Toys R Us Exclusive Civil War Giant-Man Box Set

I wasn’t exactly in love with last year’s Ant-Man movie, so I had low expectations for Paul Rudd’s Giant-Man appearance in Captain America: Civil War this spring. But as it turned out, the battle with Giant-Man was one of the most fun and exciting portions of the entire movie, and even made me a real Paul Rudd Ant-Man fan (something I never would have expected after his solo film)!

And now, Hasbro is finally cashing in on one of the most memorable fights ever in a Marvel movie with this Toys R Us exclusive Miniverse boxed set!

Exclusive Miniverse Giant-Man Box Set 2.5" FiguresThe set includes three 2.5″ Miniverse figures that are straight repacks from previously released two-packs: Captain America (with shield), Black Panther and Iron Man.

Box Back Toys R Us Giant-Man Exclusive Figure SetThese little Miniverse 2.5″ figures are aimed at children, and I don’t usually do coverage of them here on Marvel Toy News, as I’ve never gotten any requests to talk about them (ever).

Marvel Titan Hero Giant-Man 12 Inch Figure Exclusive Hasbro

But I’m making a special exception this time, as the set includes one never-before-released Marvel Titan Heroes figure as an exclusive: Giant-Man!

Now, Marvel Titan Hero figures have come a long way since Hasbro launched the line, but the sculpting and paint detailing still can’t hold a candle to the collector-oriented Marvel Legends figures.

Even so, getting a nice-looking 12″ Giant-Man figure with three reasonably-to-scale little action figures of three of the main characters from Civil War for 20 bucks is tough to beat!

TRU Exclusive Captain America Civil War Figures Set with Giant-ManThe Marvel Miniverse Giant-Man Box Set is now available as a Toys R Us exclusive set, and is being stocked on the shelves of most Toys R Us stores now for $19.99. Despite being an exclusive, as this isn’t a collector-oriented line, I suspect that these should be pretty easy to obtain without much competition for a good, long time for interested parties.

What do you think of this mixed box set of a Titan Hero with Miniverse figures, Marvel collectors? Will this bigger-than-Marvel Legends Giant Man figure stand in well in your collection, Marvel collectors? Or is this gift set just a box full of two different lines you don’t collect?

  1. The paint application (and the navy blue plastic instead of black) on the normal Ant-Man Titan Hero was complete garbage (which isn’t shocking), so this is a welcome re-release for me and my kiddo will be thrilled. The mini figures are complete throwaways for me, and I could care less. I have seen Wal-Mart carry 20″ scale Titan figures of Spider-Man and Iron Man, and I was hoping to eventually see a similar sized one of Ant-Man eventually. While the scale wouldn’t be accurate to the film, it was my hope to use a 20″ as Giant-Man against the regular 12″ Titans.

  2. It’s a very neat idea for the kids, and I applaud it. Like you said, Marvel kind of missed the boat with this. He was one of the most popular parts of the movie, but no parent is gonna pay upwards of a hundred dollars for the Marvel Legends BAF.

  3. All i got from this was how you didnt like the AntMan movie…

It was so much better than Iron Man 3, Thor 2, and Captain America 1

    • “Iron Man 3” is my favorite Marvel movie. I guess there’s no accounting for taste. =P
