SDCC 2013 Funko Metallic Ghost Rider & James Rhodes Photos!

Earlier this week, Marvel finally confirmed a few more Funko 2013 San Diego Comic Con exclusives. Some we’ve known about for quite a while (such as the Metallic Deadpool, Tony Stark and James Rhodes POP! Vinyls), but two were a big surprise: the SDCC 2013 Exclusive Marvel Funko Metallic Ghost Rider and Metallic Red Hulk POP! Vinyls. While we’re still waiting for images of Metallic Red Hulk, the first photos of Metallic Ghost Rider and James Rhodes leaked out today…

Funko POP Marvel Ghost Rider Vinyl Bobble Head Regular Version

Ghost Rider is one of those characters who just never clicked with me in my two decades of reading Marvel comic books–right up until I saw the wildly entertaining (note that I didn’t say “good”) Nicholas Cage Ghost Rider movie in 2007. After that, I sort of loved Ghost Rider as a guilty pleasure. Quality stories starring Ghost Rider have been few and far between in the last few years, but I was still excited about the upcoming Funko Ghost Rider POP! Vinyl, and especially about the possibilities for an exclusive version.

Funko SDCC Exclusives 2013 Metallic Ghost Rider POP Vinyl Marvel FigureWhen I heard about the SDCC 2013 Funko Metallic Ghost Rider POP! Vinyl, I was really kind of bummed. A Glow-In-The-Dark Ghost Rider Vinyl Bobble Head has already been released, and I felt like that was a far better fit for Ghost Rider than a Metallic version. And then I saw the POP! Vinyl Metallic Ghost Rider for the first time today and knew that I was totally wrong–this is one gorgeous paint job that makes an already slick Ghost Rider figure look even cooler. The shiny gold flames and silver skull are phenomenal–this may end up being my absolute favorite of all the kajillion 2013 SDCC Exclusives Funko is releasing.

Funko SDCC Exclusives 2013 James Rhodes Iron Patriot POP Vinyl Marvel FigureMeanwhile, little by little we’ve been learning more about the SDCC Exclusive Iron Patriot Unmasked James Rhodes Funko POP! Vinyl figure. First we figured out his existence from the list of hints that Funko posted, and then we saw the figure artwork revealed on the back of of the Toycon Tony Stark POP! Vinyl figure. Now, for the first time, we actually get to see the actual finished James Rhodes figure. And–well, he looks exactly like the box art for him, just as you’d expect.

The Marvel Funko Metallic Ghost Rider & James Rhodes Iron Patriot POP! Vinyls (among what feels like a bajillion other Funko figures) will be available exclusively at San Diego Comic-Con 2013 later this month.

    • You know what’s sad? I literally live 15 minutes from two of the Harrison’s Comics shops, and I never go to either. Looks like I’m going to one today, though! Thanks for the heads-up!

  1. So I just got all 3, and guess what, the standard one is easily the best looking one. The metallic does not look that good in person. The standard one is the only one made with a translucent plastic for the head, and it makes the flames phenomenal.
