SDCC 2013 Exclusive Funko POP! Iron Patriot Unmasked James Rhodes

Earlier this month, I posted an article about the surprise reveal of a Marvel Funko POP! Tony Stark vinyl figure being released as an exclusive at the Philippine Toy Con 2013, as well as at SDCC 2013. At that time, I speculated that Tony’s longtime comrade James Rhodes would probably be joining Tony as a San Diego Comic Con 2013 exclusive. Well, Toy Con has come and gone, and now that in-hand photos of the Marvel POP! Vinyl Tony Stark’s box exist, I can confirm that a Funko Iron Patriot Unmasked James Rhodes Vinyl will in fact be flying in for SDCC 2013 next month…

Funko SDCC 2013 Exclusives Marvel POP Vinyls Unmasked Iron Patriot James Rhodes

The Funko POP! James Rhodes Vinylm figure looks exactly the way you would expect it to: a James Rhodes head on the preexisting POP! Iron Patriot body. Since Funko is in the business of simplistic caricatures of characters, I don’t think anybody was exactly expecting a realistic interpretation of Don Cheadle anyway. I’m not sure whether or not the James Rhodes vinyl has a new head or not–it very well may be reused from one of the NBA Funko POP Vinyl figures, but I don’t immediately recognize it.

Tony Stark Unmasked Iron Man Mark 42 vinyl figure here. If you had told me that any company could paint facial hair on a Superboy head, call it Tony Stark, and have it really work, I’d have thought you were nuts. But the modified Funko Superboy head actually works terrifically for Tony Stark here–I legitimately can’t complain about it, and will be adding this Tony Stark POP! Vinyl to my collection once it’s released in America next month.

TONY STARK IRON MAN UNMASKED FUNKO POP VINYL MARVEL EXCLUSIVEWhile the Funko Tony Stark Vinyl Bobble Head figure was first available at the 2013 Philippine Toy Con, Tony Start will also be available at San Diego Comic Con 2013 next month along with the Funko James Rhodes (but sans the Toy Con exclusive sticker, obviously).
