Hasbro has done an increasingly good job over the past few years in producing more of the important characters from the various Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, but there are quite a few characters that fell through the cracks. Luckily, Hasbro is giving many collectors what they want and filling in the gaps! We got a first round of POs in the winter and here comes round 2: the Marvel Studios Legends Ant-Man & Yellowjacket, Red Skull, Thor & Lady Sif are now up for order!

Funko is the king of exclusive toys in 2014. There’s literally no question about it. Funko quite frankly produces more limited exclusives across their POP! Vinyls, Hikari and Mystery Mini figures in a single year than basically every other major toy company out there all put together. And oftentimes, I love Funko exclusives a whole lot more than I do their regular releases. But sometimes, Funko comes up with an exclusive that is just unspeakably lame. Coming this fall, it’s the second black-and-white Loki in under a year–the Hot Topic Exclusive Funko Black & White Loki POP! Vinyl!
Continue Reading →We’re just under a month away from New York Comic Con 2014 now–but you sure wouldn’t know it from the lack of any major Marvel NYCC 2014 exclusives being announced.
As usual, however, if there’s one company we can count on to deliver exclusives, it’s Funko! Today, Funko officially announced the two Marvel Funko POP! Vinyls Frost Giant Loki NYCC 2014 exclusive figures!
Continue Reading →In my eyes, Marvel Studios can just about do no wrong. But if they could do wrong, that wrong would likely be called “Thor The Dark World”. While I didn’t think that “Thor The Dark World” was bad, per se, it was definitely the lowest-quality Marvel Studios movie released thus far. Even so, there are three things I love about “Thor The Dark World” (in this order): Natalie Portman, Loki, and Thor’s new costume. Though I would have preferred the other two, Sideshow has crafted a killer new statue for one of these aspects: the Sideshow Exclusive Thor The Dark World Premium Format Figure goes up for order this week!
Continue Reading →Way back in April 2014, word leaked out via listings in the Barnes and Noble database that Funko had a quartet of Funko Thor The Dark World movie POP! Vinyls coming our way later on in the year. I figured once that happened, Funko would be officially announcing the whole wave of Thor The Dark World Funko POP! Vinyls any day. That obviously didn’t happen. But today, a quarter-year later, Funko is finally prepared to show off their four latest Funko Marvel POP Vinyls: Odin, Lady Sif, Heimdall and a new helmeted Loki are now up for order!
Continue Reading →We’ve known since long before Thor: The Dark World came out in theaters last fall that Thor and Loki were the toy characters from the film that Hot Toys had in the works, so it’s tough to feign surprise now that the 1/6 Thor The Dark World Hot Toys Loki Figure has finally been officially announced. What I don’t have to feign, though, is excitement over the fact that this new Loki Hot Toys figure is now available for order and is purely awesome!
Continue Reading →It wouldn’t be a week without at least one new Marvel Funko POP! Vinyls figure to talk about, and this week it’s a figure that every single one of us should have seen coming. In the fall Funko released the Black & White Loki POP Vinyl figure that was a lightning-fast sell-out… and where there’s lightning, there’s sure to be thunder! An exclusive Thor Black & White Funko POP Vinyls figure is on the way!
Continue Reading →If there’s one company that I’m finding I really need to plan my collecting budget around for the entire year, it’s Hot Toys and their amazing (but oh-so-expensive) Marvel Movie Masterpiece Series figures. While I was drawing out my 2014 budget today (yes, I waited until January 1st, 2014 to do so), I realized there were quite a few more Hot Toys Marvel MMS figures already announced for 2014 than I thought, so I had to adjust my outlook accordingly. I figured some other Hot Toys collectors are probably having the same problem as me, so I thought I’d share my Marvel Hot Toys 2014 release schedule to help other fans plan out their future Hot Toys-induced debt…
Continue Reading →Hot Toys saw fit to grace us with a pair of different Thor The Dark World Hot Toys Thor figures this morning. One of them is the super-limited Hot Toys Thor Light Asgardian Armor Version that’s going sleeveless, while the other figure is this standard MMS 224 Thor sixth scale figure (with sleeves!). In general I always end up wanting the hard-to-get exclusive Hot Toys figures, but in a weird twist of fate, for a change it’s the non-limited version of this Hot Toys figure that I prefer… and this Hot Toys Thor the Dark World 1/6 scale figure is now up for order!
Continue Reading →In a bit of a surprising twist this morning, Hot Toys simultaneously announced their MMS 224 Thor The Dark World Thor Movie Masterpiece Series figure at the same time as they announced the limited variant for the figure. If you’ve been waiting with bated breath for Hot Toys to churn out an unspeakably lame exclusive, you’re in luck! I’m one of those people whose eyes Hot Toys can ordinarily do no wrong in, but even I have to admit this particular limited Hot Toys figure is pretty weak. Coming in 2014–the MMS 225 Hot Toys Thor Light Asgardian Armor Version Figure is now available for order!
Continue Reading →You never know what you’re going to find while walking around New York Comic Con, but one thing I definitely wasn’t expecting any of the dealers at NYCC 2013 to have at the show was something that I hadn’t seen before (because, you know–I’m pretty well-informed). Even so, one of the dealer booths at last weekend’s 2013 NYCC managed to surprise me by having a few Funko POP! Vinyls I hadn’t seen before, including the fabled Funko Thor The Dark World Thor with Helmet POP Vinyl figure…
Continue Reading →I don’t think Diamond Select Toys was exactly keen on people taking photos of the Thor: The Dark World Marvel Select Jane Foster figure at SDCC 2013 back in July, but we got our first glimpse of the Marvel Select Natalie Portman (and Thor) figures at the show anyway.
It’s been a few months, but Diamond Select is finally ready for the (non-dark) world to see the Dark World figures–it’s the official unveiling of the Thor: The Dark World Jane Foster and Thor Marvel Select figures!
Continue Reading →It’s pretty hard to believe that it’s October now, which means we’re only a month away from the Thor 2 movie hitting in theaters, as “Thor: The Dark World” will be released on November 8, 2013. Unfortunately, Thor’s been getting snubbed a bit when it comes to Thor: The Dark World figures and collectibles. The good news is that Diamond Select Toys isn’t totally ignoring Thor 2 and is releasing eight Thor The Dark World Minimates figures to specialty stores. The bad news is that the best four figures planned for Thor: The Dark World Minimates aren’t going to be released at all…
Continue Reading →I heard reports of the Thor: The Dark World figures from Hasbro hitting stores in decent numbers about a week ago, and this weekend I finally managed to track them down in person.
Unfortunately, it appears that stores forgot to send Hasbro a memo to let them know that there are thousands (maybe millions) of figures of Thor himself still in stores from two years ago…
Continue Reading →I read a lot of comic books every month, and sometimes I get the itch to review them. As it’s comic books more than any other form of media that fuel my action figure collecting hobby, I’m including comic book reviews here on Marvel Toy News (if you don’t like it, yell at me).
In this installment, I’ll be covering comics released on 9/18/2013, including reviews of Infinity #3, New Avengers #10, Uncanny X-Men #12, Thor God of Thunder #18 and more…
