Ordinarily there’s a bit of a Marvel toy news lull after San Diego Comic-Con, but that doesn’t seem to be the case this year! Not only has Hot Toys blitzed us with some outstanding new sixth scale figures this week, but now Disney is launching their own line of near-sixth scale Marvel Ultimate Series Premium Figures! Their 10″ Black Widow figure isn’t too bad, but that Marvel “Ultimate Series” Captain America action figure… oh dear…Continue Reading →
In a few hours we’ll have proverbial longboxes filled with new Marvel toy news and photos to share from the Hasbro Marvel SDCC 2016 panel. But in the meantime, there’s some other companies whose reveals from San Diego Comic-Con 2016 deserve attention, and one of those companies is Kotobukiya! Along with the expected debuts of Bishoujo Loki and Lady Thor and the Spider-Man ARTFX+ Series, Koto also unveiled two totally unexpected surprises: the Kotobukiya Vision Fine Arts Statue and Squirrel Girl Bishoujo!Continue Reading →
Kotobukiya teased us with their 1/6 Thanos statue at NYCC 2015 and then showed off the prototype in-person for the first time at the 2016 New York Toy Fair, so it’s been over half a year now that we’ve known this piece has been coming.
But now we know when the Mad Titan is coming, what extras he’s coming with, and for how much–the Kotobukiya Thanos Fine Arts Statue is now up for order!Continue Reading →
You might think it wouldn’t be too hard to put together a set of the core Avengers movie team members in the Hasbro Marvel Legends 6″ figures scale. But surprisingly, with the way the MCU figures have been spread out over the course of different series, sets and years, it’s actually a challenging endeavor. That’s why Hasbro has devised what I think is one of the more appealing waves of totally-not-new figures ever: the Best of Marvel Legends 6″ series (with Hulkbuster Iron Man)! But if you’re in the U.S. and want this, you’re out of luck…Continue Reading →
With C2E2 2016 in Chicago this weekend occurring just slightly over a month after the New York Toy Fair 2016, I didn’t expect to see any new collectibles revealed at the show.
But Diamond Select Toys had been keeping some new toys in reserve, and did a surprise reveal of their Marvel Premier Collection Spider-Gwen Statue and Marvel Minimates Series 69 figures–including Tigra, Enchantress, Falcon, Black Knight and more!Continue Reading →
Although we’re now less than halfway through the first month of the year, Sideshow Collectibles is already mercilessly seeking out their chunk of collectors’ 2016 dollars. After putting over $1,200 in new Marvel statues up for order last week, they’re already at it again with another quarter-scale piece of one of Marvel’s hottest up-and-coming characters (who happens to be starring in her own movie in just two years): the Sideshow Captain Marvel Premium Format Figure is now up for order!Continue Reading →
Seeing as how the calendar claims today is the first day of December 2015, it’s probably time that we heard about the Winter 2016 LEGO Marvel sets, right…? Well, yes and no. While most of LEGO themes’ sets for the new year roll out January 1st, the LEGO Marvel 2016 sets are not among them. We’ll have to wait a while longer for those. Even so, at least we now know a few sets we can look forward to this winter–including the first-ever LEGO Thanos and Captain Marvel minifigures!Continue Reading →
Generally, Sideshow Collectibles likes to build up to an upcoming Marvel Premium Format Figure statue’s pre-order for at least a week with various previews to build anticipation.
But in honor of today being the night before the spookiest holiday of the year, a villain has appeared suddenly like a phantasm, and it’s the most popular Marvel movie villain of all: the Sideshow Premium Format Loki statue is now available for order!Continue Reading →
I have a pretty wide range of collecting interests, and as such, I’m always pretty pumped when two things that I collect interesect in an unexpected way. I’ve been playing the ultra-popular Disney Tsum Tsum mobile game on-and-off for about a year now, and picking-and-choosing random Tsum Tsum plush along the way. But next month’s new set will be an instant buy all-around: because it’s the first-ever Marvel Tsum Tsum plush series!Continue Reading →
Although most of the core movie Avengers became immortalized as Figma figures in 2014, one of the four characters originally shown off for the line a few years ago simply did not materialize.
But following up on Bandai releasing their SH Figuarts Hulk and NECA finally debuting their 1/4 Hulk, Max Factory is finally ready to get in on the Jade Giant action as well: the imported Figma Hulk figure is now up for order!Continue Reading →
With Bowen Designs still on hiatus for an indeterminable amount of time (which I’m starting to fear may be forever), the 1/6th scale Marvel statues world is definitely a boring place to be.
But all hope is not lost, as Kotobukiya is still fighting the good fight for sixth scale statue collectors. And in 2016, T’Challa will be on the prowl–the 2016 Kotobukiya Black Panther Fine Arts Statue is now up for order!Continue Reading →
One of the things I never quite got around to talking about from San Diego Comic-Con 2015 earlier this month is the unpainted prototypes of the Marvel Play Arts Kai Captain America and Black Widow figures that debuted at the event.
Luckily, Square-Enix has now rendered that a moot point (or at least half of one), as today they sent out the first photos of the painted Black Widow Play Arts Kai figure!Continue Reading →
Ever since it premiered at the New York Toy Fair 2015 four months ago, collectors have been pining away for the Marvel Legends Avengers Hulkbuster Series of 6″ action figures. Prospective release dates for the United States have been ambiguous, and we weren’t even sure what the U.S. case ratios for the set would be. But all of the questions have now been answered, and the Marvel Legends Avengers Wave 3 figures are now available for pre-order!Continue Reading →
I usually don’t report on XM Studios Marvel statues. Not because they’re not beautiful (they are), and not because they’re expensive (they are), but because they’re literally near-impossible for most folks stateside to acquire. Even so, the most recent statue to go up for order (but not for us in the U.S.) caught my eye, as it’s my favorite female character! Just like a high-priced lawyer, you’ll need mucho dinero to snag a 1/4 XM Studios She-Hulk statue…Continue Reading →
I have a big problem with Marvel vinyl figures. And the problem is that I can’t stop buying them. It used to be that relatively few vinyl Marvel figures got released each year–but with Funko’s explosion in popularity, the number of Marvel vinyls being released is at an all-time high. At some point I’m going to have to draw the line somewhat (for space purposes if not monetary ones)–but it doesn’t look like I’ll be able to kick the addiction anytime soon! The Marvel Dorbz Series 1 figures are now up for order, and spoilers–they are a-DORBZ-able!Continue Reading →
