This week was a mixed bag of good news and bad news for Marvel Figuarts Collectors. Good news: Bandai is releasing SH Figuarts Infinity War Thor and Wasp Figures. Bad news: Both are Tamashii Web Exclusives and not available via the usual import stores. More bad news: Infinity War Thor won’t be getting a domestic release at all. But at least some good news: the SH Figuarts Wasp figure is, and is now up for order in the United States!
Continue Reading →Sharp-eyed readers noticed that earlier today I mentioned Hasbro had unveiled five new Marvel Legends figures today, even though only four new ML debuted at Canada Fan Expo 2018. The fifth one sort of flew under the radar, because it was quietly and unceremoniously announced via the Marvel Unlimited Plus website. That’s right, the MU Exclusive figure for 2019 has now been revealed, and I suspect its one no one on Earth guessed: Marvel Legends Venomized Punisher!
Continue Reading →Hasbro is really spreading the love this year as far as Marvel Legends 2019 figure reveals at summer conventions go! Following a boatload of announcements at SDCC 2018 and the Unboxing Toy Convention in Mexico, Hasbro had another quartet of announcements up their sleeve for the Canada Fan Expo 2018: Marvel Legends Mystique, Weapon X, Guardian and a Wendigo Build-A-Figure!
Continue Reading →When I cracked open three cases of new Marvel Legends waves all at once today, I was rather overwhelmed and unsure of where to start with reviews. Well… almost unsure where to start, anyway! Because the character whose inclusion puts the biggest smile on my face of any new ML figure this year is in this wave, and there was no way I could pass up doing his review first. Kicking off my Venom Legends reviews is a figure I never thought would be done: Marvel Legends Spider-Ham is now available!
Continue Reading →While it remains all quiet on the mass-release Hasbro toys front this week (don’t worry, I’ll start a new series of Legends reviews this week), we have gotten a couple of new items solicited this week—in the chibi style! Not only does Gentle Giant have their latest Skottie Young-styled Marvel Animated Statue up for order in Cyclops, but Good Smile Company has a rare MCU addition to their Nendoroid line: Infinity War Iron Man Mark 50!
Continue Reading →We may still have almost a month of summer to go, but it’s never to early start planning ahead for the holidays—or at least, Funko thinks so! While we’ve only gotten a couple holiday Marvel Funko items in the past, The Big F is going all-out this year with whole series of both Holiday Marvel POP Vinyls and Pint-Size Heroes now up for PO! Behold the majesty of Ugly Sweater Thanos and Snowman Captain America!
Continue Reading →Kotobukiya traditionally has only produced one or two (or zero) ARTFX+ statues for a given Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, but perhaps inspired by Avengers Infinity War having the largest case of heroes ever assembled, Koto is following suit with their most expansive MCU statue series to-date. And the third figure in the series is a character who broke out in Infinity War far more than his solo movie: the Kotobukiya Doctor Strange ARTFX+ statue is now up for order! But while this statue is priced as if it were made of resin, it’s actually PVC…
Continue Reading →Toys R Us’s quick and catastrophic collapse earlier this year through the entire toy industry for a loop, and also left a slew of Toys R Us exclusives stuck in distribution limbo. One such exclusive is the subject of today’s review: a three-pack that managed to hit TRU stores in some regions, but left others (like mine) barren. But online retailers have come to the rescue, bringing us once-lost exclusives such as this Marvel Legends Infinity War Groot, Thor and Rocket Raccoon set I got from Entertainment Earth…
Continue Reading →It’s a real testament to the strength of the 2018 X-Men Legends series that a new 6” Psylocke figure can be mass-released for the first time EVER by Hasbro, and rather than being the headliner of the wave, she’s just one of several most-wanted figures from the Apocalypse Series. After being absent from retail lineups for a decade (since her Toybiz figure), a new Marvel Legends Psylocke Figure is finally available! Is this the definitive Jim Lee Betsy Braddock?
Continue Reading →This has been a rather quiet week Hasbro-wise, but several of the other companies making 6”-7” Marvel figures have been taking advantage of the respite to launch new toys of their own. And one of those companies is Medicom, who’s just solicited the third and fourth figures in their new MAFEX series: MAFEX Deadpool and Evil Gwenpool (?!?) are now up for order! I admit I don’t have a clue who Evil Gwenpool is—but that is one sweet action figure…
Continue Reading →After an extended moratorium on X-Men characters in the Marvel Select figure line, Diamond Select Toys is giving X-fans a lot of love in 2018. At New York Toy Fair 2018 they revealed Beast, and at San Diego Comic Con we got the unexpected reveal of Rogue. We had to wait a month for the solicitation, but the Southern Belle is on the way: Marvel Select Rogue is now up for order! (Oh, and there’s a new Gallery Spider-Man PVC as well…)
Continue Reading →Continuing along in my week of reviews completing the 2018 Marvel Legends X-Men Apocalypse series, we come to the fifth 6” Wolverine figure that Hasbro has released in the last two years. While some people might be burning out on ol’ Logan just a hair at this point, I imagine this latest version is one that very few X-Men fans will be able to pass up: the 2018 Tiger Stripe Wolverine X-Men Legends figure is now available! Is this the definitive version of this costumed Wolverine that fans have been waiting for?
Continue Reading →The old Toybiz X-Men Series 1 Cyclops figure was one of the very first X-Men toys I ever bought in my life, so I’ve loved Cyclops figures with light-up visors ever since I was a kid. Hasbro has made some very nice Marvel Legends Cyclops figures over the last few years, but none of them have featured that cool, no-brainer action feature. But Mezco Toyz just may have cooked up the ultimate Jim Lee Cyke: the ONE:12 Collective Cyclops figure is now up for order! And not only does he light up—he’s got the effects pieces I’ve waited all my life for…
Continue Reading →Just when you think Funko has done everything they can possibly do with POP Vinyls, they go and break the mold with something totally unexpected. And last winter, they did just that by announcing a match made in heaven: the marriage of super-deformed POP Vinyls heads and… Pez dispensers?! That’s right–believe it or not, as revealed this summer, Funko POP Pez Marvel Wave 1 is coming our way: POP Pez Stan Lee, Yondu and Gladiator Hulk are now up for order!
Continue Reading →It seems like hardly a week goes by when there’s not some new high-end Marvel Statue to talk about that costs a half a grand (or more!). But fear not, collectors who love statues but don’t love spending exorbitant amounts of cash on them: Diamond Select Toys has you covered with their reasonably-priced resin and PVC statue lines. And their latest release just might be their best one to-date: the 16” Marvel Premier Collection Cable Statue is finally beginning to ship out!
