When Hot Toys debuted their lineup of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 lineup of Movie Masterpiece Series sixth scale figures last year, many fans who missed out on the team from the first movie or who just wanted upgrades rejoiced. But over a year later, two of those prototypes had yet to be put up for sale. While it’s still unclear when or if we’ll get a new Drax, though, at least Zoe Saldana fans are finally being serviced: the new Hot Toys Gamora figure is now up for order!

When the Funko POP Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Vinyls lineup was announced, there was one humongous omission that fans were left crying out for. The breakout star of the movie, Yondu (AKA… Mary Poppins). There’s one more recent Marvel Select release from Diamond Select Toys that I’ve been dying to talk about, and with the usual weekend news drought, now seems like the perfect time to do so. The Marvel Select Drax movie figure had a multitude of features that held it back, but this other GOTG Vol. 2 two-pack is a totally different story. Is the Marvel Select Star-Lord & Rocket Raccoon two-Pack worth your 23 bucks, or are you better off sticking with the Legends versions?

Diamond Select Toys only releases around a dozen total Marvel Select action figures per year, so ordinarily they put their best foot forward and seldom disappoint. But to my dismay, one of the first releases of 2018 looked like it was going to be a rare misfire based off of the final packaged photos. My Marvel Select Drax and Baby Groot Figures I ordered online finally arrived this week—were my fears for naught, or is the DST Drax ultimately a letdown?

When Baby Groot danced into our hearts at the end of the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie, collectibles companies were caught off-guard and needed quite a few months to catch up. History did not repeat itself with GOTG Vol. 2, as virtually every company was ready to strike with their own little Groot! I’ve been to New York Comic Con every year since, well… ever… and I can’t recall Toys R Us ever having a booth at the show—much less exclusives. But I suppose there’s a first time for everything, and that time is now! When you’re the King of Exclusives like Funko is, you don’t settle for having merely store exclusives, subscription box exclusives and convention exclusives–sometimes you need to have Disney Park Exclusives as well! The Disney Parks have had the Yeti, Orange Bird, Haunted Mansion Ghost and more in recent history, but now they’ve got their first Marvel exclusive: the Gold Collector POP Vinyl was released this weekend (and appeared on eBay shortly thereafter)!

Exiting the theater from seeing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in the spring, there was nothing–nothing–I wanted more in the world than a Hot Toys Yondu sixth scale figure. At that point, A Yondu MMS figure hadn’t even been teased, so it felt like a lost cause. But at SDCC 2017, the curtain dropped on what I’ve heard many other collectors calling the best sixth scale figure of the show. And now, Mary Poppins himself is on the way in deluxe and regular versions–the Hot Toys Yondu figure is now up for order!
