I’ve already talked about the Marvel Legends Ant-Man and Avengers figures that went up for pre-order this week, so it won’t shock anyone that it’s time to move on to the last known (but not last to be released) Marvel Legends 2015 series: the Marvel Legends Spider-Man Rhino Build-A-Figure Series is now up for pre-order! And believe it or not, none of the figures that comprise this series is named “Spider-Man”!

Ever since it premiered at the New York Toy Fair 2015 four months ago, collectors have been pining away for the Marvel Legends Avengers Hulkbuster Series of 6″ action figures. Prospective release dates for the United States have been ambiguous, and we weren’t even sure what the U.S. case ratios for the set would be. But all of the questions have now been answered, and the Marvel Legends Avengers Wave 3 figures are now available for pre-order!

I woke up this morning to some good news and some bad news. The good news was that the Marvel Legends Ant-Man Series had finally gone up for pre-order! The bad news was: the first place to open orders was the store I trust to fulfill my order the absolute least: Toys R Us online. But wait! Sometimes there’s a huge intersection between what kids love and what hardcore collectors love… and sometimes there isn’t. While the Marvel Titan Hero line has saleswise been a spectacular success with the masses, the line hasn’t exactly been lovingly embraced by adult collectors. But last week I got a pair of more collector-oriented exclusive Titan Hero figures from Entertainment Earth, and this duo just may earn older collectors’ attention: it’s the Titan Hero Iron Legion & Ultimate Hawkeye figures!

Hasbro must have heard that I was out buying a house today to put more toys into, because when I got home, I’d received an E-Mail with photos of a bunch of new figures that will be joining my (really) extended family this summer! Most recent Marvel movies have had a clear breakout character, be it Hulk, Loki or the Winter Soldier. Avengers: Age of Ultron is a little bit weird, though, in that its breakout star isn’t a new character at all–it’s an armor! Having generated more hype and merch than just about any other character, it’s a surprise that the kid-focused Marvel Mashers line hasn’t gotten its own Hulkbuster before now. But the wait is at an end–the Mashers Hulkbuster Iron Man has arrived… and it’s exclusive to Walmart!

A decade ago, I could pretty much plan on at least one store-exclusive Star Wars store figure, vehicle or box set being released per month. These days, though, Marvel has stolen all the store-exclusive mojo (for now), and it seems you can’t throw a rock without hitting a bunch of exclusive Marvel figures. I woke up this morning to the terrifying realization that there was no caffeine in the house. Seeking to avert this catastrophe, I decided to do an early-morning Target run, even though I wasn’t on the hunt for anything of the non-caffeinated variety. Luckily, I don’t think I’ve ever been in a Target in my entire life without checking the toy department, so I had to do a quick check–and discovered some figures I didn’t even know were out! While the Hasbro Marvel Legends Infinite Series 3 3/4″ figures are back in 2015 for another year, the style and articulation level of new molds have undergone a drastic change going forward. This switch hasn’t exactly been met with open arms by collectors, but I decided to pick up the new Black Cat figure for review anyway.

“Your armor is a joke–just like your species!” Although the Hasbro Avengers Age of Ultron toys have been on shelves for a couple of months now, there was a little something missing from most of the lines that have been released: a little something called Ultron himself!

I’m very fond of Marvel Toy News’ track record of only having reported news that’s ended up being 100% true since the site’s inception, so I tend to err on the side of caution with what gets reported here. As such, when a totally unannounced Marvel Legends 5-Pack consisting entirely of old molds turned up in an auction listing–on April Fools’ Day–I hesitated to report it. The year is off to a controversial start for the long-running Hasbro Marvel Infinite Series (AKA Marvel Universe) toy line, as prices for the line are at an all-time high and articulation has been reduced to an all-time low. That said, the first wave of 2015 Marvel Infinite Series had some strong figures in it, and based off the case ratios and prototypes, the next wave will have some hot characters in it as well.
