When Sideshow Collectibles unveiled their amazing quarter-scale Iron Patriot and Iron Man Mark XLII maquettes last year, I was so lovestruck that I sincerely wished that Sideshow would tackle the other prominent Iron Man armors from earlier Iron Man movies. I should have been careful what I wished for, though, as Sideshow now has a multitude of Iron Man quarter-scale maquettes lined up to be released over the next few years. Reissues are the BBFF of new collectors and the bane of the aftermarket. Kaiyodo has released some real gems in their Revoltech figures line over the years, but with many of their best products having been sold out for long periods of time, the prices of these figures have often gotten out of control on the aftermarket. This week Kotobukiya premiered the first paint photos of what I fully expected to be the final entry in the Kotobukiya Avengers ARTFX+ statues line: Iron Man. I buy almost as many import anime toys as I do Marvel toys, so I’m pretty familiar with Japanese manufacturer Banpresto. In fact, they make some of my favorite static One Piece figures, including the detailed Grandline Men and Master Stars Piece lines. Banpresto is perhaps most famous, though, for their game center prize figures, including the World Collectible Figures (WCF). Usually the WCF line is reserved for anime and Japanese characters, but this fall Banpresto will bring Marvel into the WCF world–the Iron Man World Collectable Figures are now up for order!
