Diamond Select Toys generally launches only a few more than a dozen new Marvel Select figures each year, but we’ve become quite used to them maximizing that potential and making every release count. This week, two new figures launched with varying degrees of success buzz-wise: the all-new Marvel Select Super Skrull is now up for order, as well as the Disney Exclusive Miles Morales and Spider-Ham!

The 2022 Marvel Legends Spider-Man Retro Collection is chock full of “ultimate”, definitive-level 6” action figures. The subject of today’s review is not one of those figures, in my opinion. While there’s always plenty of fans excited and happy to buy a new Marvel Legends Hobgoblin figure, I’m not convinced that this 90s Spider-Man animated style Hobgoblin figure is hardly an upgrade over what we’ve seen previously at all…

You just know it’s a true golden age of Marvel action figures when Hasbro feels confident enough to bring out a new version of one of Toybiz’s biggest duds of all-time. The Spider-Man The Animated Series Spider-Armor figure languished unloved on store shelves for years and years in the 90s, which is likely why it’s never been upgraded to a 6” figure. But the time has come to see the Spider-Armor Mark I available again, and the retro 90s Toybiz packaging definitely feels apropos in this instance. this is probably the only Marvel Legends Spider-Armor Mark I figure ever to be available—is it worth getting? Here’s my review…

It’s fitting that in the year that will include the half-century anniversary of his first appearance, Hammerhead will at long last be having his first mass-release action figure on retail store shelves as well. He may look like a generic gangster with a bad haircut, but Hammerhead has appeared in numerous forms of media over the years and is among the most prolific Spidey villains still needing a Hasbro figure. Now that the Marvel Legends Hammerhead Spider-Man Retro Series figure is available and shipping out, should you let this mobster lay claim to your 22 dollars?

Marvel Legends fans may not have gotten to see the 20th Anniversary ML Toad figure everyone is waiting for during this week’s Fan First livestream—but they did get the reveal of a previously-teased and much-demanded revisit of another villain: the single-carded Marvel Legends Rhino Retro Spider-Man figure is now up for order! If you own the original Rhino BAF, is this release skippable or a worthwhile upgrade?

Ever since Sideshow Collectibles debuted the painted prototype of their upcoming new iteration of the Lethal Protector last July, fans have been asking when they’ll have the opportunity to place their pre-orders for the hulking 23” brute. Well, out of nowhere and with little fanfare, that day has arrived: the new 1/4 Sideshow Venom Premium Format Figure is now up for order! How much will this massive monster set you back, and is he worth the spatial and monetary cost?

One thing about Marvel collecting we can count on reliably as we head into 2022 is that Diamond Select Toys will keep consistently churning out all-new Marvel collectibles basically every single month, just as they’ve been doing for just about two decades now. And while their latest round of solicits included just one pair of Marvel-themed items, both are good sculptures that will appeal highly to value-priced collectors: the X-Men Animated Professor X and deluxe Marvel Gallery Green Goblin statue are now available for order!

If anyIf anyone had told me a year ago that my last review of 2021 would be me reviewing a Marvel Legends Armadillo Build-A-Figure semi-blind, I’d have thought they were crazy on all fronts. But here we are, so let’s begin. Collectors will need to buy almost the entire Marvel Legends Spider-Man No Way Home figures series of 6″ figures to get all the pieces for the ML Armadillo BAF. Is it worth the expense to build this relatively obscure pro wrestling supervillain?
