While it’s pretty clear that the Kotobukiya Marvel Fine Arts Statues line is nowhere near the most popular or prolific line of Marvel high-end collectibles, the few products that Kotobukiya releases in this lineup each year are often gems. So while Hot Toys gets all the hype and fanfare for their new Starboost Iron Man 1/6 figure they’ve just put up for pre-order, Kotobukiua has a pretty big just-solicited item of its own to promote: the monstrously massive Kotobukiya Juggernaut Fine Arts Statue is now available for order!

Yesterday we got the unfortunate news that the last two Marvel Universe Team Pack three-packs were officially cancelled by Hasbro. Not to pile on all the bad news at once, I decided to hold off for a day before spreading a bit more gloom. Remember all those Marvel Legends running changes we’ve been waiting for (some of which for over a year), like the Marvel Legends Dani Moonstar and Red Deadpool variants?
Well, apparently, Hasbro still hasn’t found any way of releasing those figures…
Continue Reading →Fans have been wondering about the fates of the final two Hasbro Marvel Universe Team Packs three-packs for most of 2013, and now the axe has officially fallen.
Though the news is pretty much what was expected, it’s still disappointing to hear confirmation that the Marvel Universe Astonishing X-Men and Asgardian three-packs are cancelled.
At least, in their current form they are…
Continue Reading →And so we come to the final female figure to ever be released in the Hasbro 4″ Marvel Universe line (in its current form). For their feminine grand finale, Hasbro has chosen to go with not one of the many women of the Avengers or even a well-known X-Woman. Nope, they’ve gone the obscure route with another member to add to the Marvel Universe Alpha Flight–Aurora! Alas, though I was pretty enamored with the Black Knight figure I reviewed over the weekend, my Marvel Universe Aurora review is going to be a little less positive…
Continue Reading →As a self-proclaimed X-Men fanboy, I buy every X-Men family book that comes out each month that doesn’t have “Wolverine” in the title (and one that does). So I was excited for this year’s big summer crossover (especially since I buy all the books it takes place in anyway). But, well, the X-Men: Battle of the Atom event has had high points and lows, and the event finale is unfortunately the lowest of them all. Beware, this X-Men Battle of the Atom #2 review will be rife with spoilers–but maybe after you read it, you won’t want to bother reading the book anyway…

Most Marvel fans latched onto this tidbit with dreams of the limited Hot Toys Midas Iron Man 1/6 figure flashing before their eyes, as that’s easily the most-anticipated item not up for sale. Well, Sideshow did make good on their promise of a long-coming pre-order, though not the one fans had in mind–the Sideshow Apocalypse Premium Format Figure Exclusive Edition is now up for order!
Continue Reading →It’s sad, but it’s true–the final wave of the Hasbro Marvel Universe 3 3/4″ action figures line is now upon us. Hasbro has been releasing new series fast and furious this fall, and we’ve quickly gone from none of the Marvel Universe 2013 figure waves being released to all of them being released. Say “goodbye” to Marvel Universe and hello to Omega Red, Alpha Flight (Aurora), Black Knight and AoA Nightcrawler–Marvel Universe Wave 24 (2013 Series 5) has now been released and is available for order!
Continue Reading →Slowly but surely, the last 2013 Hasbro Marvel figures are finding their way to retail! Though the Wolverine Legends Puck Series of Marvel Legends 6″ figures missed the theatrical release of “The Wolverine” movie by two months, this series of Wolverine Marvel Legends figures never really had anything to do with the movie to begin with (other than the fact that Wolverine stars in both). Instead, this 6″ Wolverine Legends action figure series features some of the most-wanted Hasbro 6″ figures, including Emma Frost. Unfortunately, if you want these figures–particularly Emma–it’s going to cost you…
Continue Reading →“No. Way. No freaking way.” Those were my words this morning when I woke up and saw the latest news from Kotobukiya. It figures–it just figures–that immediately after I make a post in which my usual distaste for the Kotobukiya Bishoujo statue line shines through, Kotobukiya goes and shows a Marvel Bishoujo statue concept design illustration that blows me out of this world. I never thought they would pick her, but Kotobukiya has selected the one instant-buy female character in the whole Marvel Universe: it’s the Kotobukiya Jubilee Bishoujo statue!

What actually debuted at SDCC is a bust I suspect no one was expecting: the Gentle Giant Zombie Magneto Marvel Zombies bust! It’s only been a couple months since the reveal, but the exclusive Marvel Zombies Magneto bust will be up for sale in just one week at New York Comic Con 2013!

Out of the blue and defying expectations, Hot Toys abruptly fully-revealed their “The Wolverine” Hot Toys sixth scale figure, based on the summer’s (not-quite) blockbuster Wolverine movie! Coming in 2014, the Hot Toys The Wolverine Movie Masterpiece Series figure is now up for pre-order!
Continue Reading →I read a lot of comic books every month, and sometimes I get the itch to review them. As it’s comic books more than any other form of media that fuel my action figure collecting hobby, I’m including comic book reviews here on Marvel Toy News (if you don’t like it, yell at me).
In this installment, I’ll be covering comics released on 9/18/2013, including reviews of Infinity #3, New Avengers #10, Uncanny X-Men #12, Thor God of Thunder #18 and more…
Continue Reading →Hasbro has now allowed online retailers like BigBadToyStore to begin taking pre-orders for Marvel Universe Wave 24 (AKA Marvel Universe 2013 Series 5). Based on what was said by Hasbro at the Hasbro Marvel panel at San Diego Comic Con 2013, this is the set that’s expected to be the final wave ever of 4″ Marvel Universe figures. With that in mind, you might be hoping that the case assortment containing Marvel Universe Wave 24 would be, well… good. It’s not. At all…
Continue Reading →When Hasbro announced the return of Marvel Legends figures, there was perhaps no character I heard more requests (and begging) for than a 90’s style Jim Lee Jean Grey figure.
Well, it’s taken until Wave 5, but the Marvel Legends Jean Grey Jim Lee variant has arrived! Unfortunately, even if expectations hadn’t been so sky-high for this figure, I still think that poor Jean would be considered a disappointment…
Continue Reading →Breathe out a sigh of relief and sing to the heavens, Marvel Legends collectors! This week, Marvel Legends 2013 Series 2 (wave 5 overall) was officially released in the United States! Cases of the series have hit the shores, revealing the exact contents of the cases (variants and all), and I can even do a little dance of joy myself, as I got the notice that my pre-ordered Marvel Legends Wave 5 case from BigBadToyStore shipped out this afternoon! In just a few short days, collectors everywhere will be smiling like crazy while they build their very own Marvel Legends Rocket Raccoon figures…
