Superior Spiderman Marvel Select Figure Packaged

Sometimes Diamond Select Toys is very successful at keeping a secret, and sometimes they’re foiled by their own packaging materials! Though the Disney Store exclusive Marvel Select Superior Spider-Man figure was meant to be kept top-secret until Disney was ready to announce it, a photo of the figure was in the pamphlet that came with the most recent Marvel Select action figures. But even though the surprise was ruined, I’m still enthusiastic about this figure. The Marvel Select Superior Spider-Man figure is now officially announced and available for order!

Hot Toys Thor The Dark World Loki Announced

We’ve known since long before Thor: The Dark World came out in theaters last fall that Thor and Loki were the toy characters from the film that Hot Toys had in the works, so it’s tough to feign surprise now that the 1/6 Thor The Dark World Hot Toys Loki Figure has finally been officially announced. What I don’t have to feign, though, is excitement over the fact that this new Loki Hot Toys figure is now available for order and is purely awesome!

Amazing Spider-Man 2 Wearing Fireman Hat Marvel Select Figure

Diamond Select Toys confirmed last week that an Amazing Spider-Man 2 Marvel Select Figure was on the way, and this week they’ve released their first photos of the upcoming Marvel Select Amazing Spider-Man 2 action figure!

While it seems very unlikely based on what we’ve heard that there will be any super-villains released for Amazing Spider-Man 2 in the Marvel Select line, at least we’ll have Spider-Man wearing a fireman hat! The Marvel Select Amazing Spider-Man 2 figure is now up for pre-order!

Side of Gentle Giant Captain America Stealth Costume Statue

We’re less than three months away from the release of the sure-to-be-blockbuster Captain America: The Winter Soldier movie, so it was only a matter of time until the floodgates opened up to let in the tsunami of high-end Captain America 2 merch! While Hot Toys and Sideshow Collectibles haven’t debuted any of their Captain America The Winter Soldier statues and figures yet, Gentle Giant has drawn first (and second) blood with their Black Widow and Stealth Captain America quarter-scale statues!

Marvel Legends 2014 Original X-Men Box Set Announced

Earlier this month we saw leaked photos of an unconfirmed Marvel Legends All-New X-Men set turn up on the internet. At the time, it was speculated that those figures would be the SDCC 2014 Marvel Legends exclusive set. Turns out that rumor was half-right: the All-New X-Men Marvel Legends set is an exclusive, but not to San Diego Comic-Con 2014! Coming 2/1/2014 to Toys R Us Stores: the Marvel Legends All-New X-Men figures box set!

Venom Zombie Mini Bust 2014 Gentle Giant

Back in fall 2013 during NYCC, Gentle Giant Ltd. sent out an E-Mail previewing the second entry in their line of Marvel Zombies Villains mini-busts: Zombie Venom! Sometimes it takes the better part of a year (or more) to see a mini bust go from concept form to fully-painted prototype ready to order, but luckily, that’s not the case this time: the Gentle Giant Venom Zombie mini bust photos are out and the sculpture is now up for pre-order!

Captain America Marvel Legends 2014 Red Skull Review

Marvel Legends Infinite Series Red Skull with Cosmic Cube

I started off my Captain America Marvel Legends 2014 reviews last week with Baron Zemo, Captain America’s greatest enemy (that’s my story and I’m sticking to it). But Zemo isn’t the only major Captain America villain in this assortment–Cap’s other greatest enemy also got a brand-new Marvel Legends figure to kick off the new year. But while Red Skull is about as popular and recognizable as Captain America villains come, the Captain America Marvel Legends Red Skull figure definitely has its share of shortcomings…

Funko Marvel Mystery Minis Case of Bobble Head Figures Series 1

Though the first photos of Funko Marvel Mystery Minis Series 1 leaked out a little bit earlier this month, we’ve had to wait a bit for Funko to confirm the assortment and send out hi-res images of the set. Well, not only has Funko done that today–they’ve also shown off the packaging for the Marvel Funko Mystery Minis, shared the rarity scale for the figures and put Marvel Mystery Minis Series 1 up for order! And if you want a complete set of Marvel Mystery Minis, be prepared to spend a lot of money buying blind boxes and hunting for the rarest figures…

MAFEX Amazing Spider-Man 2 Figure Poster Medicom 2014

If you have no clue what the heck “MAFEX” is, I’ll forgive you. See, Medicom just launched the Japananese MAFEX (Miracle Action Figure EX) line of action figures in Spring 2013, and there have only been two releases in the line thus far (MAFEX #1 Amazing Spider-Man and MAFEX #2 Batman). MAFEX #3 is set to arrive a full year after its predecessors, and, well… it’s Spider-Man again. But as far as Amazing Spider-Man 2 action figures go, this MAFEX Amazing Spider-Man 2 figure is looking pretty decent… but maybe not decent enough for its price-tag…

Funko Thor Black and White POP Vinyls Variant Figure

It wouldn’t be a week without at least one new Marvel Funko POP! Vinyls figure to talk about, and this week it’s a figure that every single one of us should have seen coming. In the fall Funko released the Black & White Loki POP Vinyl figure that was a lightning-fast sell-out… and where there’s lightning, there’s sure to be thunder! An exclusive Thor Black & White Funko POP Vinyls figure is on the way!

LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy Sets Announced

Despite consisting entirely of fairly obscure characters, the Guardians of the Galaxy have managed to land themselves a starring role in a huge summer blockbuster (I hope) coming to theaters in August 2014. It’s been rumored that LEGO might take advantage of the hype surrounding the GOTG with a LEGO Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy theme, and it’s now confirmed that the rumors are true! Coming Summer 2014–LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy sets!

Captain America Marvel Legends 2014 Baron Zemo Review

Marvel Legends Infinite Series Baron Zemo Review

As I’ve said a couple times before, I’m a total Baron Zemo fanboy. So when I came face-to-face with a fresh case of Captain America Marvel Legends 2014 figures at my local Toys R Us, it wasn’t the Marvel Legends AIM Trooper or Hydra Soldier I reached for first–it was Zemo. (I reached out and grabbed the army-builders a half-second later.) And now that it’s come time to start reviewing the 2014 Marvel Legends figures, I’ll begin with Baron Zemo once again…

Marvel Select Amazing Spider-Man 2 Figure Confirmed; No Villains?

Amazing Spider-Man 2 Electro Poster

Whenever Art Asylum posts a new Marvel-centric ASK DST Q&A, it’s one of the high points of each month for me (no, really–my life is pretty dull). Diamond Select Toys is one of the most open and fan-friendly toy companies out there, and they go out of their way to answer each and every question collectors ask of them. There’s almost always at least some worthwhile tidbit contained within the Q&A, and in the latest one, we finally got confirmation of a Marvel Select Amazing Spider-Man 2 figure–as well as confirmation of who won’t be getting a Marvel Select action figure…

Funko Amazing Spider-Man 2 POP Vinyls Photos & Impressions!

Funko POP Vinyls Amazing Spider-Man 2 Electro and Spider-Man Figures

The Funko juggernaut can’t be stopped, and today Funko officially opened pre-orders and sent out the first images of the fully-painted Spider-Man and Electro Amazing Spider-Man 2 POP Vinyls figures!

While I don’t think this duo of POP! Vinyls figures can compete with the coolness of the Guardians of the Galaxy and Winter Soldier vinyl figures we’ve seen prototypes of the past few days, I figure at least one of these two figures is a “must buy” (and I imagine you all can guess which one)…
