Before I even got my set of Spider-Man Marvel Legends Infinite Series figures in the mail, I already had preconceived notions of which were going to be the figures I adored and which would be the ones that I liked… less. The 2014 Marvel Legends Ultimate Beetle figure fit into the latter category. To my surprise, though, I was so impressed with the Ultimate Beetle figure, I decided to lead off my Marvel Legends 2014 Spider-Man reviews with him…

Of all the many, many Marvel licensees out there that make Marvel action figures, I don’t think there’s a single company more prolific than Diamond Select Toys is with their Marvel Minimates line. DST literally releases dozens upon dozens of new Marvel figures each year, spread across Marvel Minimates box sets, specialty store waves and Toys R Us exclusive series. And just in time to end the first month of 2014, the first wave of the year has arrived–TRU Marvel Minimates Series 18!

Last week I talked about the magnificent Human Torch statue that Bowen Designs just released. But Johnny Storm isn’t the only character to get a new Bowen Statue released this month! Strikedown Thor and Astonishing Wolverine have begun shipping as well, and the latest Bowen Designs Marvel statue has also just started to arrive.
The Bowen Green Goblin (Museum Pose) statue has just flown in (sans Goblin Glider), and just might be the best Green Goblin statue ever…

Thus far, the Captain America Super Soldier Gear figures series have not exactly been a smash hit. I see very few people talking about these Hasbro 3 3/4″ Captain America The Winter Soldier figures, and plenty of every figure–even the shortpacked Red Skull–on retail shelves.
Even so, Hasbro has Super-Soldier Gear Wave 2 ready to ship next month, and it brings a new character to the table collectors will actually want–the Falcon!

The price increase of the beloved Hasbro Marvel Legends 6″figures line to $19.99 per action figure ($24.99 if you’re crazy enough to shop at Toys R Us) left a pretty big void out there for moderately-priced 6″ action figures that parents could buy for their kids.
To fill this gaping chasm, Hasbro has just revealed and solicited an all-new line of low-priced 6″ Marvel Avengers All-Stars figures. The price is low–and as you’d expect, so are the detail and articulation…

There was never really any doubt that the Captain America The Winter Soldier Marvel Legends figures would be released (Hasbro is legally obligated to complete the Mandroid Build-A-Figure), but it sure is nice to finally get confirmation of exactly when movie figures like Black Widow and The Winter Soldier will be joining our collections!
The Marvel Legends Captain America The Winter Soldier Wave 2 figures are now up for order, and hey–the case ratios aren’t terrific, but they aren’t terrible either…

Last week Kotobukiya posted a teaser photo of a certain black and purple bow, so it didn’t take someone with the IQ (or humongous, bulbous brain) of The Leader to know that the Kotobukiya Hawkeye ArtFX+ Statue was about to debut in painted form. And sure enough, Kotobukiya has now opened pre-orders for the Hawkeye Kotobukiya Avengers statue! But while ol’ Hawk-guy is the statue I was most anticipating out of this series, something feels a bit off about this figure…

We’ve been treated to sporadic dribbles of information and teaser photos on the 3A Toys Iron Man 1/6 figure since last summer, but ThreeA has kicked off this week by debuting the first-ever painted prototype photo of the 3A Iron Man figure… Or should I say “figures”?
As it turns out, there’s not one, but four 3A Toys Iron Man sixth scale figures on the way… and they’re expected to go up for order in just a few weeks!

Once I saw that the Hong Kong scrappers had listed the Amazing Spider-Man 2 Marvel Legends variants online earlier this month, I was 100% certain that (for a change) these Marvel Legends variant swap figures would actually be released.
And lo and behold, they actually are coming–Spider-Man Legends Wave 2 is now up for pre-order! Unfortunately, the case ratios for Amazing Spider-Man Marvel Legends Series 2 are every bit as bad as we could have imagined…

Everywhere I see a news article on Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD TV series posted online, I immediately see a whole armada of people spewing hatred about the show and how much they hate it. So yeah–I’m well aware that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is not everybody’s cup of tea. But like most things everyone else seems to hate, I think Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD is pretty much the greatest. So when Funko opened pre-orders today for the upcoming Funko Agent Coulson POP Vinyls figure, I dropped everything else I was doing to pre-order and talk about him…

After over half a year of speculation (and quite a few doubts) about the Hot Toys Die-Cast Movie Masterpiece Series figures, the first of the three Iron Man 3 Hot Toys Die-Cast figures has been released in Hong Kong (and will ship from Sideshow next week in the United States)! And while the Hot Toys War Machine Mark II Diecast figure is the Iron Man 3 die-cast figure that went up for sale last and doesn’t appear in the Iron Man 3 movie (at all), it’s hard not to be impressed by the aesthetic quality and advanced articulation of Hot Toy’s latest release…

If there’s one Marvel licensee out there that doesn’t get the buzz and notoriety it deserves lately, it’s Bowen Designs. While Bowen was the pioneer of the Marvel mini-busts sensation and one of the first companies to mass produce Marvel statues, its star has fallen a bit over the past few years as new companies like Sideshow and Gentle Giant have begun hogging the limelight. I want to make a concentrated effort to shift some focus back on Bowen, and I’ll begin by looking at their latest-released statue: the Bowen Designs Human Torch statue… limited to just 500 pieces produced!

Well, it seems that the months of sadness and grieving surrounding the name change of Hasbro’s “Marvel Universe” line to “Avengers Infinite Series” may have been premature… sort of. Hasbro sent out the first hi-res packaged photos today of the upcoming Avengers Infinite Series 1 figures, and as it turns out, the line isn’t called that at all! (What?)
Apparently the line is going to be called “Marvel Infinite Series”. But whatever the line is called, the packaged images make it clear that that the figures are going to be pretty outstanding!

As I only became an avid collector of Diamond Select Toys’ Marvel Select figures last year, each month the announcement of what Marvel Select figure reissues are scheduled to come out is often just as exciting as the announcement of all-new Marvel Select figures.
And in Summer 2014, Diamond Select Toys has got two great reissues lined up for us including one of the first-ever Marvel Select figures and one of the rarest exclusives in the line: the Marvel Select Elektra and What If? Captain America reissues are now up for order!

I woke up this morning and immediately got bombarded with messages from people griping about Toys R Us raising the price of their exclusive Marvel Legends All-New X-Men set. I went to the website and saw that, sure enough, Toys R Us has raised the price on the set to $139.99. Then I rolled my eyes and laughed. But not a good kind of laugh…
