The 2014 New York Toy Fair won’t officially begin until tomorrow (though there’s lots of cool Hasbro news still to come today), but Funko has decided to get fans psyched up a day early by previewing one of their big news line: Funko Fabrikations 6″ plush toys. This is relevant because the line will include Marvel characters, beginning with the Funko Fabrikations Deadpool plush that is now up for pre-order and shipping in spring 2014!

It’s been a little while since we’ve had a new high-end Marvel sculpture revealed to discuss, and far longer since there’s been a high-end statue or mini bust of a character who has never been given the high-end collectibles treatment before! With the Guardians of the Galaxy movie on the horizon, it’s not a big shocker to see some never-before-done characters getting the spotlight, and the leader of the team will be getting it first–the Gentle Giant Star-Lord Mini Bust is coming in Q4 2014!

The Hasbro portion of the New York Toy Fair 2014 begins in just two days, but apparently Hasbro couldn’t stand to keep some of their main event offerings under wraps for even one minute longer!
They’ll be on display in the Hasbro showroom at the 2014 Toy Fair this weekend, but we now have our very first look at most of the 6″ Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy figures, including the 7″ Marvel Legends Groot Build-A-Figure!

Though I run both a LEGO blog and a Marvel blog, I don’t buy every LEGO Marvel set. With LEGO there are just so many high-priced items each year, and usually they’re better than the Marvel LEGO ones. That said, as soon as I saw the LEGO Marvel Hulk Lab Smash 76018 set, I knew it would be coming home. And sure enough, I walked into the LEGO Store Tuesday, saw LEGO 76018, bought it on sight, and built it immediately. I’ll review the playset portion of this set later, and discuss what everyone really wants to hear about first: the minifigures!

When speculation hit the net that the major licensed 2014 LEGO sets would be delayed past January 2014 until after the theatrical release of The LEGO Movie (so as not to damage LEGO Movie sets’ early sales), I thought that notion was silly.
But I guess maybe there was something to that rumor after all… the LEGO Movie hit theaters just days ago, and like magic, all of the LEGO Marvel 2014 sets have suddenly appeared in LEGO stores!

LEGO has been trying their best to keep the LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy sets under wraps and images of the sets off the Internet. And their efforts have paid off–LEGO came very close to making it to this weekend’s New York Toy Fair 2014 without photos of any of the sets leaking out. But with just a few days until NYTF, the first photo of the LEGO Guardians of The Galaxy The Milano Ship Rescue 76021 set has snuck out…

Collecting the Spider-Man Marvel Legends 2014 Infinite Series has been an arduous undertaking. After hitting dozens of stores last month and failing to find even a single figure from Wave 1 (no, not even the Superior Spider-Man figures), I gave up and bought a set online. So the last thing I expected was to wander into a random, heavy-traffic Target on a Sunday afternoon and see one of the variant figures sitting on the front of the pegs staring at me. It was an unlikely occurrence, but I sure am glad I snagged this Spider-Man Marvel Legends Boomerang figure…

Apologies in advance to all the non high-end collectors for talking about another Marvel statue, but, well… that’s what there is to talk about this weekend (everything else will come at next weekend’s New York Toy Fair 2014!).
Today, we’ve got yet another new release from Bowen Designs, and this one’s been sculpted by the great Randy Bowen himself–the Bowen Designs Red Skull Action Pose statue!

With no Bowen Designs contract extension with Marvel confirmed, Spring and Summer 2014 (and perhaps even beyond that) are going to be a drought for Bowen Marvel statue collectors the likes of which haven’t been seen in years. But before that, we still have a couple months to bask in the glory of the deluge of the final Marvel Bowen statues solicited in 2013. And the latest statue to arrive is the modern incarnation of one of Marvel’s top-tier characters–the Bowen Designs Astonishing Wolverine statue!

From X-Men to Avengers to All-New X-Factor, you can barely open a Marvel comic lately without tripping over a horde of AIM Troopers. Seriously–it’s like there’s an A.I.M. Trooper infestation going on. Thus, Hasbro has managed to pick the ideal time to take advantage of this renewed prominence of AIM by releasing the first-ever Marvel Legends AIM Trooper figure!
And while the Marvel Legends A.I.M. Soldiers are a total pain to find in stores, they’re well worth the trouble to army-build…

It’s been nearly three weeks since a new Marvel Hot Toys figure went up for pre-order, and we certainly wouldn’t want to go a whole month without something new and extravagant to spend our future money on, right? Hot Toys sure thinks so, and that’s why today they officially announced and revealed photos of their next figure! You can finally recreate the final battle from Iron Man 2 with the massive and immensely detailed diecast Hot Toys Iron Man Whiplash Mark II Movie Masterpiece Series figure that is now up for pre-order!

It’s been a long wait to get all the details, but today ThreeA Toys finally let loose with the best images yet of their upcoming Iron Man sixth scale figures, as well as letting us know exactly when and where we’ll be able to place orders for the 3A Toys Classic Iron Man, Silver Centurion Iron Man, Prototype Iron Man and Stealth Iron Man!
Get ready–the 3A Invincible Iron Man 1/6 figures land next week!

I literally just got my Bowen Human Torch statue in the mail today and was preparing to review and discuss that tonight, but I guess you just can’t stop the wheels of progress from turning–the next Marvel Bowen Designs statue has now been released (the fifth in the past month)!
Bowen Designs is known for tackling the second-tier characters that no other company will, and the perfect example of this is their latest release: the Bowen Stryfe statue!

There’s some good news and some bad news for Marvel Hot Toys collectors today. The good news is that one of this year’s less-anticipated figures is getting pushed forward by several months.
The bad news is that two of this year’s most-anticipated releases are delayed by up to half a year each. If you’re waiting for the Hot Toys Heartbreaker Iron Man and Iron Man Mark 42 MMS figures (like me), you’re going to have to wait a while more than you hoped…

Though Hasbro’s new-for-2014 “Marvel Super Hero Mashers” action figures aren’t tops on most collectors’ lists, the line seems to be at least moderately well-received at retail, where I’m seeing most characters (that aren’t Hawkeye) sold out on a regular basis. And it’s a lucky thing that the line is selling decently so far, as Hasbro has several more assortments planned for the first half of 2014, including the recently-announced Marvel Super Hero Mashers Venom, Falcon Loki, Doc Ock and Green Goblin figures!
