It used to be that you could count on some dead characters in the Marvel Universe staying dead–namely: Bucky, Uncle Ben and Gwen Stacy. But evidently nothing is holy anymore when it comes to dead folks, because iterations of all those characters are alive and active in current Marvel storylines.
But of that triumvirate, one of them is far hotter than the others, and now she’s getting her first superhero statue: the Kotobukiya Spider-Gwen Bishoujo is coming in 2016!

With only a handful of Marvel Bishoujo statues released between San Diego Comic-Con 2013 and San Diego Comic-Con 2014, it’s always been glaringly obvious to me that we’d be getting an exclusive She-Hulk Bishoujo statue variant at this year’s show.

Over the weekend, Kotobukiya revealed the full concept artwork for the upcoming Lady Deadpool Bishoujo statue.
I figured that Koto might at least be saving the official photos of the final Bishoujo Wasp prototype until after the New York Toy Fair 2015 (so that they could debut the actual Wasp statue at the event), but clearly that was not the plan: the Kotobukiya Wasp Bishoujo statue is now fully-revealed and up for order!

A couple days ago, Kotobukiya posted a small piece of a drawing of what appeared to be Bishoujo Lady Deadpool statue concept art. I figured that that was the teaser that would lead up to Kotobukiya debuting the full concept art for Lady Deadpool at the New York Toy Fair 2015 next weekend.

Regular readers know that I’m pretty outspoken about my dislike of the Kotobukiya Bishoujo Marvel statues. I feel that they’re often posed in such a cheesecake way that they’re embarrassing to look at, much less bring into the house where my wife can see them. “No. Way. No freaking way.” Those were my words this morning when I woke up and saw the latest news from Kotobukiya. It figures–it just figures–that immediately after I make a post in which my usual distaste for the Kotobukiya Bishoujo statue line shines through, Kotobukiya goes and shows a Marvel Bishoujo statue concept design illustration that blows me out of this world. Kotobukiya has a real treat lined up to close out the 2013 lineup of Marvel Bishoujo statues: an all-new X-Force Psylocke Bishoujo statue! While Kotobukiya has released Psylocke before, the original Psylocke statue is 1:8 scale and out of scale with the current Bishoujo figures being released (not to mention mega-expensive).
