Last week Hot Toys shocked the Marvel Hot Toys collecting world by announcing that the first Iron Man 3 Movie Masterpiece Series figure to be released would be a previously unannounced Hot Toys Midas Mark 21 Iron Man figure–and that he was going to be released first at the Hot Toys exhibition in Taiwan this week!
It turns out Hot Toys was telling the truth (what, you thought they weren’t?), as the Mark XXI Iron Man Midas Hot Toys figure has now been released overseas!

I woke up last week to what every man dreams of–unexpected new glamor shots of a new Hot Toys Iron Man figure. Though it had made its debut at SDCC 2013 less than a week before, the Hot Toys Iron Man Silver Centurion Mark 33 Enhanced Energy Suit was already ready for its official photography session! As soon as I saw that Hot Toys had posted photos, I knew it was only a matter of time until the red and silver centurion made his presence known on Sideshow Collectibles website. The central theme of Iron Man 3 is that it is the strength, bravery and intelligence of an individual that makes them a hero–not their weapons or technology. We see this with both Tony Stark (who spends the vast majority of the movie without armor) and James Rhodes (who is far more effective outside the Iron Patriot armor than he is in it in the film). So it’s only fitting that amongst an armada of Iron Man suits, Hot Toys capture both of Robert Downey Jr.’s iconic appearances from Iron Man 3. Though the “Iron Man 3” movie wasn’t quite the most well-loved Marvel Studios movie to date (except to me–I loved it more than any other Marvel movie, bar “Avengers), Hasbro is moving forward with a third series of Iron Man Marvel Legends in Fall 2013 regardless. This is going to be a rather controversial wave, however, as it contains an armor not seen in “Iron Man 3”, a villain (of a sort) who’s the subject of more hatred toward Marvel Studios than any other character ever from the movies, and a character who’s not (exactly) in the movies at all…

One thing that I absolutely love about Bowen Designs as opposed to a lot of other companies that make high-end Marvel products is that Bowen’s estimated release dates tend to be fairly accurate, and items usually go up for order within about six months (sometimes less) of a product’s release. Unfortunately, delays do happen, and some statues slip through the cracks. But though they’re running about half a year behind, the Bowen Designs Modular Iron Man and Beast statues are finally shipping out this month!
