You never know what you’re going to find while walking around New York Comic Con, but one thing I definitely wasn’t expecting any of the dealers at NYCC 2013 to have at the show was something that I hadn’t seen before (because, you know–I’m pretty well-informed). Even so, one of the dealer booths at last weekend’s 2013 NYCC managed to surprise me by having a few Funko POP! Vinyls I hadn’t seen before, including the fabled Funko Thor The Dark World Thor with Helmet POP Vinyl figure…

After a pretty wild time at New York Comic Con 2013, I’m back to continue on with my Marvel coverage of the event! One booth I was particularly interested in checking out was the Kotobukiya booth. Since Kotobukiya fully-revealed the Avengers Now Black Widow ARFTX+ statue about a week ago, I figured we’d be seeing the painted Marvel Now Captain America statue on display joining her at NYCC 2013. I was totally wrong. At the 2013 NYCC, the brand-new sculpts for the Kotobukiya Marvel Now Hawkeye and Thor ARTFX+ statues were revealed!

It’s been a few months, but Diamond Select is finally ready for the (non-dark) world to see the Dark World figures–it’s the official unveiling of the Thor: The Dark World Jane Foster and Thor Marvel Select figures!
Continue Reading →It’s pretty hard to believe that it’s October now, which means we’re only a month away from the Thor 2 movie hitting in theaters, as “Thor: The Dark World” will be released on November 8, 2013. Unfortunately, Thor’s been getting snubbed a bit when it comes to Thor: The Dark World figures and collectibles. The good news is that Diamond Select Toys isn’t totally ignoring Thor 2 and is releasing eight Thor The Dark World Minimates figures to specialty stores. The bad news is that the best four figures planned for Thor: The Dark World Minimates aren’t going to be released at all…
Continue Reading →From what I’ve heard, the Loki POP! Vinyl figure that is part of the Funko Thor: The Dark World POP! Vinyls series of figure bobble-heads is far and away the best seller in the bunch. This is hardly a shocker, as the previous POP! Vinyls Loki figures are outrageously expensive and hard-to-get on the aftermarket. What is a bit unexpected is that we’re getting a just-announced exclusive Funko Black and White Loki POP! Vinyl variant for next month’s Comikaze 2013!
Continue Reading →I heard reports of the Thor: The Dark World figures from Hasbro hitting stores in decent numbers about a week ago, and this weekend I finally managed to track them down in person.
Unfortunately, it appears that stores forgot to send Hasbro a memo to let them know that there are thousands (maybe millions) of figures of Thor himself still in stores from two years ago…

In this installment, I’ll be covering comics released on 9/18/2013, including reviews of Infinity #3, New Avengers #10, Uncanny X-Men #12, Thor God of Thunder #18 and more…
Continue Reading →We’ve known that Funko was planning a series of Thor The Dark World POP! Vinyls figures for a while now, but Funko has shrouded images of the figures in secrecy. They weren’t shown at San Diego Comic 2013, and we didn’t even know the full character assortment–until now!
Coming to stores this fall in time for the theatrical release of the Thor 2 movie, it’s the Funko Thor The Dark World POP! Vinyls Loki, Dark Elf and Thor figures!
Continue Reading →After a brief recession to enjoy this bounty of new Marvel Legends 2013 figures that Hasbro has bequeathed upon us, I’m fully recharged and ready to review the second half of Marvel Legends Wave 5! This time, it’s the penultimate member of the Wrecking Crew–its leader and most famous member–Marvel Legends The Wrecker!
Continue Reading →In some welcome (albeit unexpected) news this week, Diamond Select Toys has announced the surprising reissue of a Marvel Select figure which was first released last summer as a limited store exclusive.
Scheduled to be re-released in October 2013, just in time for the arrival of “Thor: The Dark World” in theaters, it’s the Marvel Select Classic Thor action figure!
Continue Reading →We knew going into this weekend’s D23 Expo 2013 that that first series of Disney Vinylmation Marvel figures wasn’t going to be until fall, so there were zero expectations for an early release at the convention or anything like that. But sometimes it’s nice to have the bar set low, because then you can be pleasantly surprised!
No, Disney didn’t sell the series at the show, but they did give out free promotional trading cards showing off photos of the Vinylmation Marvel Series 1 figures for the very first time!

Though he’s lasted longer in-stock than any of his mere mortal brethren, North American Hot Toys Distributor Sideshow Collectibles is finally “sold out” of the Thor Hot Toys God of Thunder, with online retailers on the verge of selling out as well…
Continue Reading →San Diego Comic Con 2013 has come and gone now, and while I’m extremely pleased with most of what was shown for Marvel figures (for the most part), one line that I felt a little let down by was the usually awesome Diamond Select Toys Marvel Select display. That’s not to say the 2013 SDCC Marvel Select display was a total loss. Though DST didn’t show anything previously unannounced at SDCC 2013, they did debut the movie Thor 2 Marvel Select figures of Thor and Jane Foster from “Thor: The Dark World”!
Continue Reading →While all of the most prominent companies that make Marvel figures, statues and toys made their presence known at this week’s San Diego Comic Con 2013, some of the smaller manufacturers–including Diamond Select Toys–brought their A-Game to the show as well! Art Asylum had been holding out on us for a while so that they’d have lots of new figures to debut at SDCC 2013, including the just-revealed and very awesome Marvel Minimates Wave 54 and Toys R Us Marvel Minimates Wave 18!
Continue Reading →Although San Diego Comic Con 2013 Preview Night won’t begin for a few hours yet, news is already starting to emerge from the convention halls! If you’re like me, you were probably expecting that Hasbro would hang onto the secret of their next series of Marvel Legends until their panel later in the show, but nope! Front and center, on display behind glass for Preview Night of SDCC 2013, it’s this fall’s upcoming 2013 Marvel Legends Series 3 (Wave 6) series, featuring Agent Venom, Jubilee and more!
UPDATE: Jubilee has now been confirmed as the Build-A-Figure of Marvel Legends Wave 6!
