Sad but true: There are not a ton of great Marvel exclusives for New York Comic Con 2013. There’s that awesome Funko Stan Lee POP! Vinyls figure announced a few weeks back, but that’s really it for Marvel toys collectors. Over the course of the last month, I’ve talked about the highs of Marvel Legends Wave 6 (Black Panther and The Wrecker) and the lows of the set (like Jim Lee Jean Grey) in my series of Marvel Legends 2013 figure reviews. Many toy manufacturers would cower in terror before turning tail and running away from the prospect of producing action figures for a superhero movie in which only one character has super powers, the main cast is full of civilians and women, and no one wears a costume. My expectations were set pretty low for the not-quite-summer-blockbuster 2013 “The Wolverine” movie, but this Wolverine movie ended up being a far more satisfying experience than its predecessor. Even so, wary toy companies didn’t exactly flock to make merchandise for “The Wolverine”, and we got a grand total of zero mass-market action figures in time for the movie.
