Many toy manufacturers would cower in terror before turning tail and running away from the prospect of producing action figures for a superhero movie in which only one character has super powers, the main cast is full of civilians and women, and no one wears a costume. My expectations were set pretty low for the not-quite-summer-blockbuster 2013 “The Wolverine” movie, but this Wolverine movie ended up being a far more satisfying experience than its predecessor. Even so, wary toy companies didn’t exactly flock to make merchandise for “The Wolverine”, and we got a grand total of zero mass-market action figures in time for the movie. Paying $200-$300 each for a 1/6 Hot Toys 12″ Iron Man action figure was a pretty difficult thing transition for me to make. Getting me to pay $100+ for a 1/12 scale 6″ figure, however, is something I would have said is impossible.

When Hasbro announced the return of Marvel Legends figures, there was perhaps no character I heard more requests (and begging) for than a 90’s style Jim Lee Jean Grey figure.
Well, it’s taken until Wave 5, but the Marvel Legends Jean Grey Jim Lee variant has arrived! Unfortunately, even if expectations hadn’t been so sky-high for this figure, I still think that poor Jean would be considered a disappointment…
