“X-Men: Days of Future Past” may have just hit theaters a few days ago. There’s no release date yet for its DVD/Blu-Ray yet at all, nor any specs or bonus features listings available yet for the movie. But all that means nothing to Amazon, as they’re ready to move in and stake their claim to X-Men movie fans’ dollars! If you ever wanted to be Magneto– well, you still can’t. At this point, I’ve come to realize that virtually every company that’s ever made a sculpt for the Iron Man Mark VII armor is going to do a money-grab by repainting that item gold and calling it Midas Iron Man. Don’t fight it–just accept it.

As a big anime fan and anime figure collector, the annual Bandai Tamashii Nations collector events are some of my favorite occasions to look forward to. Usually I’m looking forward to these shows for news on Gundam or One Piece or Dragon Ball Z, but the last few years Bandai has also had a slight Marvel presence. And at this weekend’s Bandai Tamshii Nations Summer 2014 Collection event, they finally debuted their first two figures from Iron Man 3: the SH Figuarts Iron Patriot and Iron Man Mark 42 figures!

For those collecting the Good Smile Company Figma Avengers like I am, the holy trinity is now complete! The Figma Thor and Iron Man Mark VII figures are arriving this summer, and they now will be officially joined by the leader of the Avengers in Fall 2014!

If you’re reading this blog, you’ve probably been in a few toy stores in the past year. With that being the case, I imagine you’ve all heard of this video game called “Disney Infinity”. Like “Skylanders”, you buy Disney figures and stick them on a special base to activate the character in the Disney Infinity video game. Of course, all this was irrelevant to Marvel fans–until now! With the once-mighty Bowen Designs unlikely to release a single Marvel mini bust in 2014 (and maybe not ever again), superhero mini busts definitely appear to be on life support. For the past couple weeks, I feel like all the news has been about Captain America and the Guardians of the Galaxy. Nothing wrong with that–I love Cap and Rocket Raccoon as much as the next guy (okay, I love Rocket more than most), but I also like to see some less-merchandised, obscure characters get the spotlight. Despite LEGO’s best efforts, photos leaked out from the 2014 Toy Fair International of all of the Guardians of the Galaxy LEGO Marvel Summer 2014 sets. All of the sets–save one! Perhaps it was because it was the smallest of the sets and most difficult to photograph, or perhaps because folks were less interested in it than the other sets on display. Regardless of the reason, we’ve yet to get a good look at the LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy Starblaster Showdown 76019–until now! This was a particularly crummy week for me, rife with personal illness and a death in my family. Some people console themselves with whiskey and such under similar circumstances. I do it with blind-boxed vinyl figures. And two of the blind boxes that I picked up this week (of many) were my first two KidRobot Marvel Labbit Minis Series 2 “bloxes”. In the aftermath of Figma officially opening orders for their exquisite (albeit excessively expensive) Avengers Figma Iron Man Mark VII figure, Kaiyodo has decided to cash in on all of the interest in the Mark VII Iron Man as well! Considering the Iron Man Mark VII armor is featured in the most popular and top-grossing superhero movie of all-time (The Avengers), you’d think our shelves would be overflowing with a ton of great scaled 6″ Marvel Legends Iron Man Mark VII figures. Instead, we have zero. For whatever reason, Hasbro has never prioritized making a Mark VII Iron Man Marvel Legends-scaled figure, leaving a gaping hole in many collectors’ lineups.
