Does the dearth of new comic-inspired Marvel Select figures in 2013 got you down? Thus far, Diamond Select Toys has released zero comic book-based Marvel Select figures in the second half of 2013, as all of the recent figures have been based on Marvel movies like “The Wolverine”, “Iron Man 3” and “Thor: The Dark World”.

When Hasbro got back into the 12″ action figure business this year, their efforts didn’t necessarily light the collecting world aflame with impressed fans. Even so, the Hasbro Marvel Universe Titan Hero Series of large-scale action figures fills a niche that’s otherwise gone unfilled recently–that of cheap big figures for kids to collect.

Slowly but surely, the last 2013 Hasbro Marvel figures are finding their way to retail! Though the Wolverine Legends Puck Series of Marvel Legends 6″ figures missed the theatrical release of “The Wolverine” movie by two months, this series of Wolverine Marvel Legends figures never really had anything to do with the movie to begin with (other than the fact that Wolverine stars in both). Gentle Giant Marvel Bust collectors went into San Diego Comic-Con 2013 with certain expectations for what characters we might see added to the Marvel Mini Bust line, with certain heavy-hitters like Thor: The Dark World busts and Iron Fist and so forth in mind. What actually debuted at SDCC is a bust I suspect no one was expecting: the Gentle Giant Zombie Magneto Marvel Zombies bust! From what I’ve heard, the Loki POP! Vinyl figure that is part of the Funko Thor: The Dark World POP! Vinyls series of figure bobble-heads is far and away the best seller in the bunch. This is hardly a shocker, as the previous POP! Vinyls Loki figures are outrageously expensive and hard-to-get on the aftermarket. What is a bit unexpected is that we’re getting a just-announced exclusive Funko Black and White Loki POP! Vinyl variant for next month’s Comikaze 2013!

Sad but true: There are not a ton of great Marvel exclusives for New York Comic Con 2013. There’s that awesome Funko Stan Lee POP! Vinyls figure announced a few weeks back, but that’s really it for Marvel toys collectors. LEGO is not attending NYCC 2013, and Diamond Select Toys has confirmed they won’t be bringing any Marvel Minimates NYCC 2013 exclusives.
