All good things must come to an end–and that includes the production runs of some figures in the extensive line of Funko POP! Vinyls figures. While Funko will often keep certain POP Vinyls figures in production for several years, with the crazy number of new characters they’re producing each year, certain figures need to retire–or go out of production–forever. And on this summer’s list of discontinued items, it’s been confirmed that several Marvel POP! Vinyls are going into retirement. Order the retiring Marvel POP Vinyls soon if you’re missing them, because retired Funko POP Vinyls can get very pricey on the aftermarket…

Although we’ve been waiting for Marvel to officially announce the Funko Marvel SDCC 2014 exclusives, I surmised instantly what they were going to be based off of the vague hints that Funko posted many weeks ago. One of the hints indicated there would be a San Diego Comic Con 2014 exclusive Marvel Mystery Minis set of twelve figures–and lo and behold, that’s exactly what it is! But while most Funko Comic Con exclusives turn out to be straight-up repaints, Funko has surprised us by including some brand new molds unexpectedly as part of the 2014 SDCC Exclusive set!
Continue Reading →What’s red and green and grey, weighs over 110 pounds, and will cost you almost three thousand dollars? If you guessed the quintet of Sideshow Hulk Premium Format Figures put up for order over the course of the past year, you’re correct! Wait, did I say “quintet”…? That’s right! Today, Sideshow Collectibles astonished the Marvel collecting world (and made any Marvel Premium Format collecting completists left cry) when they revealed a totally unexpected new item–the Sideshow Exclusive King Hulk Premium Format Figure statue is now up for order!
Continue Reading →Just because we’re only three weeks away from San Diego Comic Con 2014 doesn’t mean that every company has played all its cards already as far as Marvel SDCC 2014 exclusives go!
Today, Kotobukiya revealed a third exclusive statue that I had a feeling was in the works–the SDCC 2014 Kotobukiya Gray Hulk ARTFX+ statue has now been revealed!
Continue Reading →When the Marvel Select Unmasked Spider-Man figure from the Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie surfaced for sale a few weeks ago with no prior announcement whatsoever, I made a pretty big deal of how flabbergasted I was that Diamond Select Toys managed to secretly get a figure through design and production and into collectors’ hands without the secret leaking out. Well, they’ve done it again! Though it most likely wasn’t meant to appear just yet, a new Disney Store exclusive Marvel Select Savage Hulk figure has appeared for sale online this weekend!
Continue Reading →It’s the toy collecting equivalent of the irresistible force meeting the unmovable object! I’ve been fiercely adamant in my stance that I was never going to pick up any of the Hasbro Marvel Super Hero Mashers figures, as I thought they were pretty much the most ludicrous thing ever the first time that I saw them.
But Hasbro has found my weakness, and has moved in to exploit it: Loki toys! The Marvel Mashers Loki and Doc Ock figures have now been released!
Continue Reading →The Rule of Three is a writing principle that states that things that come in threes are inherently better than individuals or pairs of things. That rule must be what Sideshow Collectibles had in mind when they decided to go ahead with not one, not two, but three new Hulk Premium Format Figures in 2014! We’ve had the Sideshow Premium Format Red Hulk and Green Hulk statues go up for sale in the past two months, but if those weren’t for you, perhaps the third time will be the charm–the Sideshow exclusive Grey Hulk Premium Format statue is now up for order!
Continue Reading →While the Incredible Hulk is one of the most popular and in-demand characters in the Marvel Universe, not every collector has an extra two grand lying around with which to purchase the original Sideshow Hulk Premium Format Figure statue off the aftermarket. Sideshow Collectibles finally seems to have realized that fact, and is preparing to give Hulk aficionados another crack at a Green Hulk Premium Format Figure this year, as the Sideshow Exclusive Premium Format Hulk statue is up for order as of this afternoon!
Continue Reading →After salivating over the Kotobukiya Marvel NOW! Avengers ArtFX+ statues since last summer, the first (and biggest!) character of the series is now shipping to stores: the 1/10 Avengers Kotobukiya Hulk ArtFX+ Statue!
Non-coincidentally, it’s time for my inaugural Kotobukiya review, focusing on the aforementioned Hulk statue. The Kotobukiya Avengers Hulk statue is now in-stock and available for order–but is it worth your sixty bucks?
Continue Reading →This will be tough to believe, but we haven’t seen a single new Marvel comics-based Sideshow Premium Format Figure put up for sale since the end of 2013! Sideshow has been quiet, but now we can see the reason why: they’ve been working on something big. And by “big”, I mean “jaw droppingly-huge”! Sideshow Collectibles has not one, not two, but three Hulk Premium Format statues lined up for 2014, and the Red Hulk Premium Format Figure Exclusive Edition Statue is now up for order on the Sideshow website!
Continue Reading →I do my best to plan my collecting budget for the year around the estimated release dates that Hot Toys gives us for their various Marvel 1/6 figures, as those tend to be the most expensive figures I buy each year. But, well–sometimes you need to be flexible, and this is apparently going to be one of those times! Even though the Avengers Hot Toys Bruce Banner and Hulk set pre-order still estimates the set shipping in September 2014, prepare your wallets for a smashing–the Hot Toys Hulk and Bruce Banner figures set has now been released overseas!
Continue Reading →The Marvel Mystery Minis Series 1 figures and packaging looked complete and ready to go at the 2014 Toy Fair last month, and now the Marvel Mystery Minis are upon us!
And surprise–there’s not one, not two, not three, but four Hot Topic exclusive Marvel Mystery Minis vinyl figures! And if you’re a completist, be afraid: one of them is one per 144 blind boxes…
Continue Reading →Marvel Super Hero Mashers definitely are not my favorite action figure line of 2014. In general, they’re a bit too “kiddie” for me, and I wasn’t totally in love with the character selection for the first series. That said, Hasbro may have won me over–just a little bit–with their Toy Fair 2014 Marvel Super Hero Mashers Series 3 reveals. As if Hasbro went into my brain and pulled out four characters that would be ideal lures for me, at last week’s New York Toy Fair 2014 Hasbro debuted the Marvel Mashers Deadpool, Iceman, Red Hulk and Ghost Rider figures!
Continue Reading →Though I run both a LEGO blog and a Marvel blog, I don’t buy every LEGO Marvel set. With LEGO there are just so many high-priced items each year, and usually they’re better than the Marvel LEGO ones. That said, as soon as I saw the LEGO Marvel Hulk Lab Smash 76018 set, I knew it would be coming home. And sure enough, I walked into the LEGO Store Tuesday, saw LEGO 76018, bought it on sight, and built it immediately. I’ll review the playset portion of this set later, and discuss what everyone really wants to hear about first: the minifigures!
Continue Reading →When speculation hit the net that the major licensed 2014 LEGO sets would be delayed past January 2014 until after the theatrical release of The LEGO Movie (so as not to damage LEGO Movie sets’ early sales), I thought that notion was silly.
But I guess maybe there was something to that rumor after all… the LEGO Movie hit theaters just days ago, and like magic, all of the LEGO Marvel 2014 sets have suddenly appeared in LEGO stores!
