When it comes to the Kotobukiya line of Bishoujo statues, I’m one of the harshest critics out there. As much as I love most of Kotobukiya’s offerings, I often find their Bishoujo statues (such as Starfire and Spider-Woman) to be posed both demeaning and objectifying. There’s a first time for everything, though, and tonight I’ll be raving about the Kotobukiya Jubilee Bishoujo statue. Bishoujo Jubilee is available now for 20% off and free shipping online–Should you buy her…? Does a mall babe eat chili fries?

I saw tons of fresh and exciting upcoming Marvel collectibles at New York Toy Fair 2015 last month, but the single biggest disappointment for me was what wasn’t at the show: the Kotobukiya X-Men ARTFX+ statues quietly announced at NYCC 2014.
I feared major delays, but luckily, I only had to wait a month to see the first complete prototype–the Marvel Now X-Men Kotobukiya Cyclops ARTFX+ statue!
Continue Reading →One of my first stops at the 2015 New York Toy Fair today was the Kotobukiya booth, which I cruised into with a sparkle in my eyes and dreams of seeing the Kotobukiya X-Men ARTFX+ statues in my heart. Unfortunately, those dreams were shattered.
But as a consolation prize, I did get to see the just-revealed Avengers: Age of Ultron Kotobukiya Iron Man Mark 43 ARTFX statue!
Continue Reading →Over the weekend, Kotobukiya revealed the full concept artwork for the upcoming Lady Deadpool Bishoujo statue.
I figured that Koto might at least be saving the official photos of the final Bishoujo Wasp prototype until after the New York Toy Fair 2015 (so that they could debut the actual Wasp statue at the event), but clearly that was not the plan: the Kotobukiya Wasp Bishoujo statue is now fully-revealed and up for order!
Continue Reading →Last week, Kotobukiya knocked the respective socks off of Marvel collectors everywhere when they revealed their first two Avengers: Age of Ultron ARTFX+ statues: Hulk and Hulkbuster Iron Man. At the time, I predicted that these would be the two most expensive Kotobukiya Marvel ARTFX+ statues released to date–and I was right. But while the price range was what I expected on Hulk, the ARTFX+ Hulkbuster Iron Man is a, uh… ‘little’ more than I expected: the Kotobukiya Hulkbuster Iron Man and Hulk statues are now available for order!
Continue Reading →A couple days ago, Kotobukiya posted a small piece of a drawing of what appeared to be Bishoujo Lady Deadpool statue concept art. I figured that that was the teaser that would lead up to Kotobukiya debuting the full concept art for Lady Deadpool at the New York Toy Fair 2015 next weekend.
But, surprise! Kotobukiya had other ideas, as they premiered the full Kotobukiya Lady Deadpool Bishoujo statue concept drawing in Japan today!
Continue Reading →When it was announced a couple months ago that Kotobukiya was producing Avengers Age of Ultron ARTFX+ statues, my gut feeling was “Meh. It’ll take a lot for Kotobukiya to impress me with movie-based ARTFX+ statues.” Well, today Kotobukiya unveiled the very first two Kotobukiya Age of Ultron ARTFX+ statues, and it’s time for me to open my mouth and eat some crow, because both are absolute must-buys: the Kotobukiya Hulkbuster Iron Man and Hulk ARTFX+ statues have now been revealed!
Continue Reading →When we get into the second half of 2015, Star Wars is going to be everywhere–and I mean everywhere. But we’re still in the first half of 2015, and for now, everything is coming up Avengers! And in honor of what may become the highest-grossest superhero movie ever, a new series of statues has now been announced: movie-based Kotobukiya Avengers Age of Ultron ARTFX+ and ARTFX statues!
Continue Reading →If she was a real woman, I would marry She-Hulk. Aside from being a brilliant lawyer and a virtuous superhero, She-Hulk is also quite the looker. So when I heard Kotobukiya was bringing the painted Bishoujo She-Hulk statue prototype to New York Comic 2014 to be shown off for the first time, I knew what my first stop at the show (after attempting to pick up my Funko exclusives) was going to be…
UPDATE 10/21: The Kotobukiya She-Hulk Bishoujo statue is now up for order!
Continue Reading →I’ve covered all of the totally new items that appeared at New York Comic Con 2014 now, but there were plenty more freshly updated items on display at the convention as well. One such item was the long in development Kotobukiya Rogue X-Men Danger Room Sessions Fine Arts Statue.
This statue has changed drastically from the first time we saw it years ago, and for the first time ever, we got to see Rogue painted at NYCC 2014! Was she worth the wait?
Continue Reading →This summer Kotobukiya began teasing Marvel collectors about their next line of Marvel NOW! ARTFX+ statues that would be following up the hit Avengers ARTFX+ series.
Once Kotobukiya declared the series would be of another ultra-popular Marvel superhero team, it didn’t take a genius to guess who Kotobukiya was talking about, but today Kotobukiya announced it officially at NYCC 2014: the Kotobukiya X-Men ARTFX+ statues series will begin in 2015!
Continue Reading →Ordinarily, I absolutely can’t stand ruthless, pure evil villains that have no mercy and no soul. Those types of villainous characters typically evoke no sympathy at all and are flat-out boring to read about. Usually. But there’s an exception to every rule–and in this case, his name is Carnage! The 90’s are back in style, and Carnage is finally getting more long-deserved merch in 2015. And the most high-end and impressive Carnage collectible coming out is definitely the Kotobukiya Carnage Fine Arts Statue is now up for order!
Continue Reading →…Well, that was fast. Kotobukiya hasn’t exactly been trying to keep it a secret that they have a grey X-Force Deadpool ARTFX+ variant statue in the works for next year, what with them openly talking about it at San Diego Comic-Con 2014 last month and showing off sneak peek photos last week. Even so, for some weird reason I thought that this variant statue wouldn’t be going up for sale for a while yet, as it was scheduled to be a store exclusive. I thought wrong! The statue will be exclusive to all retailers who use Diamond Previews, and the exclusive Kotobukiya Deadpool X-Force ARTFX+ statue variant is now up for order!
Continue Reading →San Diego Comic Con 2014 is officially underway, and the reveals are coming at a fast and furious pace–perhaps more so than any year I can remember ever! Though they’re not the biggest company at the convention and may be getting lost in the shuffle just a little bit, Kotobukiya has debuted some major Marvel statues at the show, including a Fine Arts Statue that hadn’t even been teased previously! Coming in 2015–Kotobukiya Maximum Carnage and Rogue Fine Arts Statues!
Continue Reading →It’s impossible to have a conversation about modern comic book characters that have exploded into ‘A’-List headliners for their respective companies without mentioning the Merc with a Mouth himself, Deadpool. Despite having only first appeared in 1991, the fairly recently-created Deadpool has become one of the most popular and recognizable characters in the entire comic book world. So it’s only natural that for their first non-Avengers Marvel Now! ARTFX+ statue, Kotobukiya would select one of Marvel’s most trendy characters–the Kotobukiya Deadpool ARTFX+ Statue has now been revealed!
