SH Figuarts Iron Man Mark 42 Figure Revealed by Bandai!

Bandai S.H. Figuarts Iron Man Mark XLII 42 Figure from Iron Man 3 Movie

For the past couple weeks, I feel like all the news has been about Captain America and the Guardians of the Galaxy. Nothing wrong with that–I love Cap and Rocket Raccoon as much as the next guy (okay, I love Rocket more than most), but I also like to see some less-merchandised, obscure characters get the spotlight. This latest news isn’t regarding one of those characters. In fact, it’s a new figure of a character who’s gotten more merch in the past few years than any other. But this is a good one–it’s the Bandai S.H. Figuarts Iron Man Mark 42 (XLII) figure!

Hot Toys Stealth Captain America & Steve Rogers Up for Order!

Steve Rogers Hot Toys Figure MMS 243 with Damaged Captain America Shield

The past several weeks have been some of the most monetarily brutal and unrelenting that I can remember as a Marvel collector, as we’ve been absolutely bombarded with new releases from low-end companies and expensive pre-orders from high-end companies for statues and sixth scale figures. Hot Toys evidently thinks that collectors still have some dough left to squeeze out, however, as they’ve now posted the pre-order for a Captain America The Winter Soldier Hot Toys Stealth Captain America & Steve Rogers figure set!

Hot Toys Captain America Stealth STRIKE Suit Figure MMS 242

If there’s one word to describe Hot Toys’ stratagem with regards to their Captain America: The Winter Soldier figures, it would be “relentless”.

After already putting three figures (for a total of $600+) up for order within a span of a week, they’re back just one week later with what’s sure to be the most iconic and desirable version of Captain America from the new movie opening today. Summer 2014 LEGO Marvel Starblaster Showdown Set Photos

LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy Starblaster Showdown 76019 Box

Despite LEGO’s best efforts, photos leaked out from the 2014 Toy Fair International of all of the Guardians of the Galaxy LEGO Marvel Summer 2014 sets. All of the sets–save one! Perhaps it was because it was the smallest of the sets and most difficult to photograph, or perhaps because folks were less interested in it than the other sets on display. Regardless of the reason, we’ve yet to get a good look at the LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy Starblaster Showdown 76019–until now! And while the set includes just one exclusive minifigure, it’s one many fans will want to army-build…

Frog of Thunder Sideshow Diorama Thor Frog 2014 Statue

As tomorrow is April Fool’s Day, I figured I better get this product preview out of the way today, lest everyone believe that it’s a joke (it’s not–I hate April Fool’s Day with a fiery passion). Announced last week and now fully revealed, Sideshow Collectibles is bringing one of Walt Simonson’s greatest creations to life in diorama form!

No, it’s not a new Thor, Loki or even Beta Ray Bill–as unlikely as it may be, the Sideshow Thor Frog Diorama Statue is now available for order!

Hot Toys Falcon Sixth Scale Figure Captain America The Winter Soldier

While Americans tend to be really spoiled as far as being able to see most companies’ new reveals first at events like the NY Toy Fair and San Diego Comic Con, sometimes it pays for fans to live in Hong Kong. Such is the case this month for Hot Toys figure collectors, as the “Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier: Join Forces at Hysan Place, Powered by Hot Toys Exhibition” is going on overseas! Two never-before-seen figures debuted this week at the exhibition: the Hot Toys Falcon and Steve Rogers Movie Masterpiece Series figures!

Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Legends Case Ratios

Yesterday the much talked-about Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Legends 6″ action figures went up for pre-order, and today the case assortment for the series has been revealed! To my chagrin, the Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy figures case ratios are not quite what I was expecting. Though he won’t even be appearing in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie, it appears that there will be plenty of Marvel Legends Iron Man figures to keep shelves warm this summer…

Marvel Legends Nova Figure Packaged Guardians of the Galaxy

Considering what a complete and utter pain it’s been in 2014 to track down any Marvel Legends figures that aren’t characters named “Captain America” or “Spider-Man”, I’ve been half-dreading the eventual release of the Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy figures. But no longer!

Not only has the “official” street date for them been revealed, but all six Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Legends figures (including Nova and Gamora) are now available individually for pre-order!

Marvel Legends All-New X-Men Set Toys R Us Exclusive

One of the advantages of living north of Boston is that it’s a short jaunt up to sales tax-free New Hampshire. This pays off for me pretty frequently (shocker: I buy a lot of stuff), and it had the potential to pay off once again today, as I made a quick trip up to a NH Toys R Us with this week’s 20% Off coupon. I had designs on picking up a Marvel Legends All-New X-Men Box Set for a reasonable price, and I had the opportunity to pick from three sets at the store. In the end, though, I decided to pass and save my $71.99. Here’s why…

Spiral Bowen Designs Statue Revealed 2014 Jason Smith

Just because Bowen Designs hasn’t put a single new statue up for order in 2014 (and may never put another new Marvel statue up for order period if a new licensing contract isn’t signed) doesn’t mean that the sneak peeks of what could be have to cease! Today, Randy Bowen gave sculptor Jason Smith permission to share photos of another spec piece the release of which is contingent upon a new Marvel contract being signed–and it’s a good one! Coming from Bowen Designs in 2014 (maybe)–the Bowen Spiral Statue!

Sideshow has been quiet, but now we can see the reason why: they’ve been working on something big. And by “big”, I mean “jaw droppingly-huge”! Metallic Electro Funko POP Vinyls Exclusive Hot Topic Boxed

It’s been over three weeks since the last unannounced Funko Marvel POP! Vinyls exclusive turned up in stores. There was a real possibility that we might end up going a full month without a new Marvel POP! Vinyl variant turning up (oh, the humanity), but that peril has been avoided! Out of the blue (no pun intended), a Hot Topic Exclusive Funko Metallic Electro POP! Vinyls figure from Amazing Spider-Man 2 has shockingly appeared! (Okay, that last pun was intentional…)

X-Men Marvel Legends Phoenix Five Cyclops Figure For Sale!

Phoenix Five Cyclops Marvel Legends Prototype Figure

Hasbro has really dropped the ball over the past few years as far as getting Marvel Legends variant figures that they’ve shown off publicly into stores. While there’s still hope for some of these figures (like Bulldozer and Classic Hawkeye) to make it to retail, some of them are lost to us forever. One such figure is the Marvel Legends Phoenix Five Cyclops figure. But although Hasbro has confirmed they’ll never mass-produce this action figure, you still have a chance to own one, as a Wolverine Legends Phoenix Five Cyclops figure prototype has now surfaced for auction this week!
