“My” golden age of comic books (AKA my teenage years) was the 1990’s, so I’ve got a special place in my heart for Onslaught, the villain so powerful he was able to kill Captain America, Iron Man, the Fantastic Four and the Avengers. The Red Skull became the new Onslaught in 2014’s (awful) “Axis” crossover, and now Hasbro is bringing us 2014’s most important villain! You’ll have to buy all seven Captain America Marvel Legends 2016 figures to build the Red Onslaught Build-A-Figure… but is he worth it?

“Scourge” is a name that tends to evoke two distinct reactions from various Marvel fans: terror or “Huh?”. A mercenary who primarily kills super-villains, Scourge is a fan-favorite character of longtime Captain America readers and one of the most efficient villain-killers in Marvel Universe history. Those who aren’t big Cap fans, on the other hand… may have never heard of this guy. Even so, the Marvel Legends Scourge figure is now up for order, and if you’re gonna build a Red Onslaught Build-A-Figure, then you’re gonna buy him! Of all the news articles that I published following San Diego Comic-Con 2015, the one that most surprised me the most regarding the sheer amount of hype and excitement that it drummed up was the preview of the Gentle Giant Skottie Young Marvel Babies statues.

Gentle Giant said at the show that we’d have to wait a while to own these mini-statues–and they were telling the truth–but at least the Skottie Young Captain America statue is now up for order!

One month ago at San Diego Comic-Con 2015, Square-Enix gave fans their first glimpse at two new Marvel Play Arts Kai variant figures: the Black Widow we saw painted photos a few weeks ago, and an armored Captain America that painted images of were just revealed this week. I’d been wondering which of the two Avengers was going to be the next to go up for order, and today I got the answer I’d been waiting for: BOTH! I know that there’s no way that I can one-up the unbridled excitement that yesterday’s discussion of this year’s Marvel Candy Bowls drummed up, so I’m not even going to try to match that high mark today. With all of the amazing new sixth scale figures that Hot Toys debuted at the 2014 Toy Soul event in Hong Kong, it seems a bit ungrateful to be disappointed about something that Hot Toys didn’t show at the event. But Hot Toys announced three figures would definitely debut at Toy Soul 2014, and one of those characters was a no-show: the Hot Toys Ultron figure. But while we disappointed by the lack of an all-new Ultron figure, as a consolation prize, we did get to see updates Avengers Age of Ultron Hot Toys Captain America and Black Widow figures…

After kicking off the year in grandiose fashion with the Amazing Spider-Man Marvel Legends and Captain America Marvel Legends 2014 series, we got the X-Men Marvel Legends and Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Legends in July. And, well… that’s it for the 2014 Marvel Legends figures. With one exception: announced at SDCC 2014, the Target Exclusive Marvel Legends three-pack of Marvel Legends Ms. Marvel, Captain America and Radioactive Man has now been released!

Funko didn’t get quite as much money from Marvel POP! Vinyls collectors at San Diego Comic-Con 2014 as they would have liked (with Flocked Rocket Raccoon POP Vinyl being the only SDCC 2014 Marvel POP Vinyls exclusive), but they’re making up for missed chances (and dollars!) on the fall 2014 convention circuit. A few weeks back the NYCC 2014 Funko Frost Giant Loki POP Vinyls debuted, and now the Comikaze 2014 exclusives have been announced: Funko POP Vinyls Glow-in-the-Dark Storm and Unmasked Captain America!
