I’m a self-admitted X-Men fanboy, so I was anticipating this year’s X-Men Marvel Legends 2014 figures even more than the superb Captain America Marvel Legends and Spider-Man Marvel Legends series (not to mention the so-so Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Legends figures). As a shared Toys R Us/Diamond Previews exclusive, this wave was also more expensive and harder to get than the others. Are they worth your effort and money? Trying to collect Funko POP! Vinyls is a serious undertaking. The number of products Funko is releasing now on a yearly basis is downright insane, and Funko gives out exclusives like candy. Tracking down all of the exclusives is expensive business–but far better than waiting and paying aftermarket prices for them later on, as Funko exclusives are never reissued. At least they weren’t reissued… until now! If you missed him last year, you have another shot: the Hot Topic exclusive Funko X-Force Wolverine POP! Vinyl is back!

Yesterday I learned the identity of the much-talked-about August 2014 LootCrate Exclusive Funko POP! Vinyls figure. I then spent more hours than any sane person would wrestling with myself over whether or not to post spoilers for the LootCrate. Finally, I decided that it’s worth risking eternal damnation if it allows a few more Marvel collectors to get in before the deadline for one of the coolest Marvel Funko exclusives ever. …Well, that was fast. Kotobukiya hasn’t exactly been trying to keep it a secret that they have a grey X-Force Deadpool ARTFX+ variant statue in the works for next year, what with them openly talking about it at San Diego Comic-Con 2014 last month and showing off sneak peek photos last week. Even so, for some weird reason I thought that this variant statue wouldn’t be going up for sale for a while yet, as it was scheduled to be a store exclusive. I thought wrong! The statue will be exclusive to all retailers who use Diamond Previews, and the exclusive Kotobukiya Deadpool X-Force ARTFX+ statue variant is now up for order!

At this point it feels like there are about a million Hot Toys Iron Man sixth scale figures out there, but there’s no Iron Man Hot Toys figure that’s been more in-demand and clamored for by fans than a re-release of the Iron Man Mark III from the original 2008 “Iron Man” film. No matter how many more armors come down the pike, the Mark III Iron Man is considered by the majority to be the definitive Iron Man armor. It was fun while it lasted, but now it’s time to put the craziness of SDCC 2014 behind us and get back to business as usual–and that means new toys hitting stores! The Marvel Minimates Guardians of the Galaxy figures series is running late, and won’t make it into stores in time for the movie… or so we thought! While perusing my local Toys R Us, I did a double-take when I walked past their exclusive blue-skinned, red-mohawked figure, accompanied by (most) all his friends! The Guardians of the Galaxy Minimates figures have now been released, including the exclusive Yondu figure!

Last month Hot Toys released a teaser poster, giving us our first look at the Hot Toys 2014 Toy Fairs Exclusive figures–including (as expected) another Iron Man figure from Iron Man 3. I wrote about two-thirds of an article overnight discussing what I thought the exclusive was going to be and why based off of the teaser photo, but then Hot Toys had to go and spoil the whole thing by doing a full reveal the next morning. This is going to sound like complete and utter blasphemy coming from me, but I was sort of hoping that there wasn’t going to be a SDCC 2014 LEGO Marvel exclusive this year. The San Diego Comic Con LEGO Marvel minifigure exclusives have traditionally been both difficult and extremely expensive to acquire, so I would have been just fine with LEGO forgoing any Comic-Con exclusive LEGO Marvel sets this year.

But with a week to go until Comic-Con, they just had to go and announce an exclusive I can’t live without–it’s the SDCC 2014 LEGO Rocket Raccoon’s Warbird set exclusive!

A couple days ago I declared that the Mighty Muggs Rom Space Knight figure was the most out-of-left-field exclusive for this month’s San Diego Comic Con 2014. Well, I stand by that original assessment.

But if there was a prize for second most out-of-left-field SDCC 2014 exclusive, it would probably go to UCC Distributing for an exclusive they’re partnered up with Marvel and Hasbro for. He’s cosplayed as Hulk, Wolverine, Thor, Captain America and Spider-Man–and this month you’ll be able to get your own 2014 SDCC Exclusive Deadpool Mr. Potato Head: Dead Peel!

I genuinely thought that there was a chance I was going to get away scot-free without having to buy any of this year’s Gentle Giant San Diego Comic Con 2014 exclusives. I’m okay living without a mini bust of the Rebel Alliance’s resident butterball, Jek Porkins, and I need a two foot tall, $500 neon green, glow-in-the-dark Aliens figure even less. But then Gentle Giant had to go and do it. They had to make their Marvel exclusive something that I absolutely cannot live without.

He’s about to take the world by storm and become more popular than Spider-Man and Wolverine combined, so this exclusive is gonna be hot: the SDCC 2014 Rocket Raccoon Mini Bust has now been revealed!

As far as unexpected, totally out-of-left-field exclusives go, Hasbro has just won San Diego Comic-Con 2014. Hands down. Unless you’ve been reading comics for three and a half decades (or grew up making semi-daily trips to the comic book store and buying old issues out of the bargain bins like me), you probably don’t have any clue who ROM The Space Knight even is. The robot form of ROM Space Knight hasn’t appeared in Marvel Comics in almost thirty years. But this month, ROM is back (sort of)–a Hasbro SDCC 2014 Exclusive ROM Space Knight Mighty Muggs figure is coming our way!
