Sideshow Collectibles teased fans this morning when they announced that two “long-awaited pre-orders” would finally be going up for order today in honor of the last day of Spooktacular 2013! Most Marvel fans latched onto this tidbit with dreams of the limited Hot Toys Midas Iron Man 1/6 figure flashing before their eyes, as that’s easily the most-anticipated item not up for sale. Well, Sideshow did make good on their promise of a long-coming pre-order, though not the one fans had in mind–the Sideshow Apocalypse Premium Format Figure Exclusive Edition is now up for order!

Hot Toys Thor 2 Movie Masterpiece Series Figure Revealed

Hot Toys saw fit to grace us with a pair of different Thor The Dark World Hot Toys Thor figures this morning. One of them is the super-limited Hot Toys Thor Light Asgardian Armor Version that’s going sleeveless, while the other figure is this standard MMS 224 Thor sixth scale figure (with sleeves!). In general I always end up wanting the hard-to-get exclusive Hot Toys figures, but in a weird twist of fate, for a change it’s the non-limited version of this Hot Toys figure that I prefer… and this Hot Toys Thor the Dark World 1/6 scale figure is now up for order!

In a bit of a surprising twist this morning, Hot Toys simultaneously announced their MMS 224 Thor The Dark World Thor Movie Masterpiece Series figure at the same time as they announced the limited variant for the figure. If you’ve been waiting with bated breath for Hot Toys to churn out an unspeakably lame exclusive, you’re in luck! I’m one of those people whose eyes Hot Toys can ordinarily do no wrong in, but even I have to admit this particular limited Hot Toys figure is pretty weak. Through a welcome bit of good fortune, the Marvel Universe Abomination figure that I ordered from Amazon earlier this month turned out to be the Hasbro Marvel Universe A-Bomb variant figure when it actually arrived. The chances of me paying out the wazoo for this character were zero, but I was pretty ecstatic to get him for the $11.99 shipped I ended up paying. Of course, it would be a moot point if the MU A-Bomb action figure turned out to be a dud. Hasbro has been releasing new series fast and furious this fall, and we’ve quickly gone from none of the Marvel Universe 2013 figure waves being released to all of them being released. Say “goodbye” to Marvel Universe and hello to Omega Red, Alpha Flight (Aurora), Black Knight and AoA Nightcrawler–Marvel Universe Wave 24 (2013 Series 5) has now been released and is available for order!

The major shocker wasn’t even that two of the three Iron Man LEGO sets didn’t occur in the movie at all (Iron Man vs. The Mandarin in a giant tank?! The bad news is that I have now lost a bet and owe a friend five bucks. The good news is that the bet that I lost was my guess that the Hot Toys Amazing Spider-Man Movie Masterpiece Series figure would be delayed into 2014! After countless delays and the figure not even being shown at San Diego Comic Con 2013, I thought it was very possible the Amazing Spider-Man Hot Toys figure would fail to make it out before the end of 2013. But I was wrong–it’s taken quite a while, but the Hot Toys Amazing Spider-Man MMS 179 figure has now been released overseas!

That said, Kotobukiya definitely got my attention last week when they revealed the concept sketch for a Jubilee Bishoujo statue before New York Comic Con 2013 even began! I suspected we wouldn’t see any further sneak peeks of Jubilee (that sounded dirty) at the show, but I made Kotobukiya an early stop at NYCC 2013 nonetheless. NYCC 2013: Kotobukiya Marvel Now Hawkeye & Thor Statues Photos!

After a pretty wild time at New York Comic Con 2013, I’m back to continue on with my Marvel coverage of the event! One booth I was particularly interested in checking out was the Kotobukiya booth. Since Kotobukiya fully-revealed the Avengers Now Black Widow ARFTX+ statue about a week ago, I figured we’d be seeing the painted Marvel Now Captain America statue on display joining her at NYCC 2013. I was totally wrong. At the 2013 NYCC, the brand-new sculpts for the Kotobukiya Marvel Now Hawkeye and Thor ARTFX+ statues were revealed!
