Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Legends Nova Photos Review

Marvel Legends Modern Nova Guardians of the Galaxy Figure 2014

While there’s ample hype for this summer’s Guardians of the Galaxy movie, the most talked-about and most-anticipated figure in the Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Legends Infinite Series isn’t from the movie at all! In fact, it’s not even a character new to Hasbro Marvel Legends. Instead, it’s the star of the most successful cosmic Marvel comic of the past decade.

The last basic figure in this series left for me to review is the Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy Nova figure!

Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy Starlord Photos Review

Marvel Legends Starlord Guardians of the Galaxy Figure Review

I have not exactly been gushing with praise in my reviews of the Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Legends figures thus far, but lest anyone think that I’m totally unhappy with the series, it’s time to talk about one of the figures in the series that’s good. Really good. And it’s lucky that he’s really good, because we’re going to be seeing a lot of him, as he’s heavy-packed at two-per-case!

Peter Quill, the Prince of Spartax, has arrived–it’s the first-ever 6″ Hasbro Marvel Legends Starlord figure!

Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Legends Gamora Photos Review

Hasbro Marvel Legends GOTG Gamora Figure Swinging Sword

The first three figures I’ve talked about in the Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy Infinite Series have been mostly a mixed bag, and today’s figure will be more of the same. Though she’s been a staple of the Marvel cosmic universe for decades and a key member of teams like the Infinity Watch and the Guardians of the Galaxy, Gamora has never had a major figure release before (Minimates doesn’t count, sorry). But that’s all about to change, and Gamora is (hopefully) about to enter the upper-echelon of recognizable Marvel females! The Marvel Legends Gamora figure is the most high-end Gamora (for now)–unfortunately, it’s rather mediocre…

Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Legends Rocket Raccoon Photos Review

Marvel Legends Rocket Raccoon Hasbro Figure Guardians of the Galaxy

I’ve had a Rocket Raccoon image as part of the site header since Marvel Toy News launched, so I haven’t been keeping my affinity for Marvel’s cutest superhero a secret. Me and Rocky (we’re on a first name basis) are pretty tight, so I’ve been looking forward to the Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Legends Rocket Raccoon movie figure ever since the movie was announced. Unfortunately, Hasbro often doesn’t do smaller characters like Rocket Raccoon justice, and the new Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy Rocket Raccoon is a bit of a dud and continues that trend…

Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy Iron Man Photos In-Hand

Cosmic Iron Man Hasbro Marvel Legends Figure Photos

Just when Marvel Legends fans thought they were safe… he’s back! If there’s one character that Marvel collectors were reasonably certain would not show his armored face as part of the Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Legends series, it’s Iron Man. But, well… here is. To Hasbro’s credit, they did choose an Iron Man armor that’s strongly linked to the GOTG, however. For better or worse, we’re stuck with Marvel Legends Cosmic Iron Man, so let’s take a look at the final production version of the figure and see if it’s any good…

Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Legends Drax Figure In-Hand Photos

Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Legends Drax Figure Prototype

I was a Guardians of the Galaxy fan before the Guardians of the Galaxy were cool. Well, actually, I’m not sure that the Guardians of the Galaxy are even “cool” now, but they’re at least poised to become recognizable mainstream superheroes due to this year’s upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Anyway, the point is that I’m a huge Guardians of the Galaxy fanboy. So it is with a ton of excitement and pleasure that I get to show off the first production photos of the actual 6″ Hasbro Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy figures, beginning with Drax the Destroyer!

Amazing Spider-Man 2 Marvel Legends Electro Review & Photos

Marvel Legends Amazing Spider-Man 2 Electro Review

On the eve of the Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie hitting theaters, I figured it was about time I wrote a review for the most high-profile movie Electro action figure. No, it’s not a Hot Toys Electro–they haven’t announced a sixth scale Electro (yet). Nor is it a Marvel Select Electro figure, as DST didn’t have reference materials in time to create a super-detailed Electro. No, this time out the most “high-end” figure is actually coming from Hasbro. Electro is only $17 shipped online right now, but is the Amazing Spider-Man 2 Marvel Legends Electro figure actually any good…?

Funko Amazing Spider-Man 2 & Electro POP Vinyls Review

Amazing Spider-Man 2 Funko POP Vinyls Spider-Man Figure

After the agonizingly long wait for Captain America: The Winter Soldier to hit theaters, time has really blown by, and the Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie release is now upon us! I’ve got my reservations about this movie, but I’m willing to turn my super-critical brain off and do my best to enjoy it this weekend. But while I prepare for that, it’s finally time for me to review some Amazing Spider-Man 2 toys I’ve been holding onto for a while. First up, it’s the Amazing Spider-Man 2 Funko POP! Vinyls figures of Spider-Man and Electro!

Funko Agent Coulson POP Vinyls Figure Review & Photos

Funko Agent Coulson POP! Vinyl Figure Review

The vastly under-appreciated Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD is my favorite non-animated TV series in many years, and I am absolutely starved for merch for the show. Despite tying in with the latest Marvel movies and having a high-profile primetime television spot, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. toys are non-existent. So when the Funko Agent Coulson POP Vinyls figure went up for order on Entertainment Earth, I instantly knew he would be mine. Now that the Agents of SHIELD Agent Coulson Funko POP! Vinyl has arrived, I’m both overjoyed and a little disappointed…

Avengers Kotobukiya Hulk ArtFX+ Statue Review & Photos

Hulk Kotobukiya ArtFX+ Statue 2014 Avengers

After salivating over the Kotobukiya Marvel NOW! Avengers ArtFX+ statues since last summer, the first (and biggest!) character of the series is now shipping to stores: the 1/10 Avengers Kotobukiya Hulk ArtFX+ Statue!

Non-coincidentally, it’s time for my inaugural Kotobukiya review, focusing on the aforementioned Hulk statue. The Kotobukiya Avengers Hulk statue is now in-stock and available for order–but is it worth your sixty bucks?

Funko Marvel Black Widow POP Vinyls Figure Review

Funko Captain America The Winter Soldier Black Widow Vinyl Figure Review

Ordinarily I don’t like ordering Marvel Funko POP Vinyls online, as I’m pretty OCD about paint applications. But, well, I was having trouble finding the Captain America The Winter Soldier POP Vinyls in my area, Amazon had the Funko Black Widow POP Vinyl for $9 shipped, and now she’s sitting on my desk.

Is this Black Widow Funko POP Vinyl a little $9 masterpiece? Read on…

KidRobot Marvel Labbit Series 2 Review: Iron Man & Spider-Man

Spider-Man Labbit Figure Shooting Web Fluid

This was a particularly crummy week for me, rife with personal illness and a death in my family. Some people console themselves with whiskey and such under similar circumstances. I do it with blind-boxed vinyl figures. And two of the blind boxes that I picked up this week (of many) were my first two KidRobot Marvel Labbit Minis Series 2 “bloxes”. I was aiming for Carnage and Anti-Venom, but this just wasn’t my week (if any regard). I drew the two most common KidRobot Marvel Labbits Series 2 figures: Spider-Man and Iron Man. Were they worth my 20 bucks? Read on…

Spider-Man Marvel Legends Carnage Review & Photos (2014)

Marvel Legends Carnage Infinite Series Figure Review

Now that the 2014 Toy Fair is officially in the history books, I want to jump back and discuss some of the collectibles that I put on the back-burner over the course of the past month. One such action figure is quite possible the single most popular Hasbro Marvel Legends action figure released thus far in 2014: the Spider-Man Marvel Legends Carnage Infinite Series figure! Carnage has had his fair share of figures released in the past, but this one? This one is going to be the bar that all future Carnage figures will have to strive to surpass…

LEGO Marvel 2014 Hulk Lab Smash Review Part 1: Minifigures

LEGO MODOK Minifigure from LEGO Hulk Lab Smash 76018

Though I run both a LEGO blog and a Marvel blog, I don’t buy every LEGO Marvel set. With LEGO there are just so many high-priced items each year, and usually they’re better than the Marvel LEGO ones. That said, as soon as I saw the LEGO Marvel Hulk Lab Smash 76018 set, I knew it would be coming home. And sure enough, I walked into the LEGO Store Tuesday, saw LEGO 76018, bought it on sight, and built it immediately. I’ll review the playset portion of this set later, and discuss what everyone really wants to hear about first: the minifigures!

Captain America Marvel Legends 2014 AIM Trooper Review

Marvel Legends A.I.M. Trooper Figure Review

From X-Men to Avengers to All-New X-Factor, you can barely open a Marvel comic lately without tripping over a horde of AIM Troopers. Seriously–it’s like there’s an A.I.M. Trooper infestation going on. Thus, Hasbro has managed to pick the ideal time to take advantage of this renewed prominence of AIM by releasing the first-ever Marvel Legends AIM Trooper figure!

And while the Marvel Legends A.I.M. Soldiers are a total pain to find in stores, they’re well worth the trouble to army-build…
