Unlike past years, Kotobukiya didn’t bring any never-before-seen Marvel statues prototypes to New York Comic Con 2016 this week.
But while we didnt get to see anything totally unannounced at NYCC 2016, we did get to see several updated sculptures in person for the very first time at the event–including the Bishoujo Squirrel Girl and painted versions of the Super Deadpool ARTFX and Vision Fine Arts statues!

I probably sound a little bit smug regarding being unsurprised by the four figures I already posted about earlier tonight that Hasbro revealed at their pre-NYCC 2016 event tonight. But I have to admit, I definitely didn’t predict every figure Hasbro was going to unveil at New York Comic-Con. In fact, I’m ashamed to say I didn’t recognize one of the characters at all–the 2017 Marvel Legends Adam Warlock & Death’s Head II figures debuted tonight at NYCC 2016!

Alright, ‘fess up! Try as they might, Hasbro wasn’t able to keep the lid kept quite shut enough prior to SDCC 2016, and the lineup for the Marvel Legends 2017 X-Men wave ended up leaking out. So most of us knew the wave in advance of its announcement. But there were two figures on the leaked list who were absent at San Diego Comic-Con and still unconfirmed… until tonight! At the NYCC 2016 event tonight, Hasbro officially revealed the 2017 Marvel Legends Old Man Logan and Shatterstar figures!

When Funko debuted their DC Rock Candy vinyl figures of Harley Quinn and Batgirl and such way back at New York Toy Fair 2016 in February, I wondered whether or not the line would be expanding to cover Marvel females as well. It took eight months, but on the eve of NYCC 2016, we finally have an answer: “Yes!” The first six Funko Marvel Rock Candy figures are now up for order, including Spider-Gwen, Lady Thor, She-Hulk and more!

Until Hasbro started cranking out symbiote figures over the last three years, I had forgotten just how many symbiote Spider-Man characters were out there. We’ve had both classic Venom and Agent Venom Marvel Legends figures released in the past two years, but the Build-A-Figure you get by buying all of Spider-Man Legends 2016 Wave 2 is even more recent (and a lot weirder) than the Agent iteration–it’s the Marvel Legends Venom Space Knight figure!

September 2016 just may be some sort of unofficial Netflix Daredevil merch month, as after getting close to no collectibles released for the show this year, we’ve gotten a healthy dose of new toys announced in the past week! DST announced the Season 2 Minimates box set last week, with Hot Toys opening pre-orders for their fantastic Daredevil sixth scale figure to open this week. I was going to call it a day for my series of Doctor Strange Marvel Legends figure reviews, but I’ve had quite a few people ask for a review of a figure I hadn’t expected to get requests for, so here goes one more! One of Hasbro’s surprise hits for me last year was the Marvel Now Doctor Strange figure, who was pretty great except for his lack of a cape. It’s been a surprisingly quiet last few months for Marvel Hot Toys collectors, with a couple of Iron Man figures and Doctor Strange being the only new items solicited. But the respite is ending this week with what could be the start of a whole new Marvel lineup within the Hot Toys family: Netflix Marvel TV Series Figures!
