After hitting dozens of stores last month and failing to find even a single figure from Wave 1 (no, not even the Superior Spider-Man figures), I gave up and bought a set online. So the last thing I expected was to wander into a random, heavy-traffic Target on a Sunday afternoon and see one of the variant figures sitting on the front of the pegs staring at me. From X-Men to Avengers to All-New X-Factor, you can barely open a Marvel comic lately without tripping over a horde of AIM Troopers. Seriously–it’s like there’s an A.I.M. Trooper infestation going on. Thus, Hasbro has managed to pick the ideal time to take advantage of this renewed prominence of AIM by releasing the first-ever Marvel Legends AIM Trooper figure!

Though Hasbro’s new-for-2014 “Marvel Super Hero Mashers” action figures aren’t tops on most collectors’ lists, the line seems to be at least moderately well-received at retail, where I’m seeing most characters (that aren’t Hawkeye) sold out on a regular basis. And it’s a lucky thing that the line is selling decently so far, as Hasbro has several more assortments planned for the first half of 2014, including the recently-announced Marvel Super Hero Mashers Venom, Falcon Loki, Doc Ock and Green Goblin figures!

Thus far, the Captain America Super Soldier Gear figures series have not exactly been a smash hit. I see very few people talking about these Hasbro 3 3/4″ Captain America The Winter Soldier figures, and plenty of every figure–even the shortpacked Red Skull–on retail shelves.

Even so, Hasbro has Super-Soldier Gear Wave 2 ready to ship next month, and it brings a new character to the table collectors will actually want–the Falcon!

Once I saw that the Hong Kong scrappers had listed the Amazing Spider-Man 2 Marvel Legends variants online earlier this month, I was 100% certain that (for a change) these Marvel Legends variant swap figures would actually be released.

And lo and behold, they actually are coming–Spider-Man Legends Wave 2 is now up for pre-order! Unfortunately, the case ratios for Amazing Spider-Man Marvel Legends Series 2 are every bit as bad as we could have imagined…

Well, it seems that the months of sadness and grieving surrounding the name change of Hasbro’s “Marvel Universe” line to “Avengers Infinite Series” may have been premature… sort of. Hasbro sent out the first hi-res packaged photos today of the upcoming Avengers Infinite Series 1 figures, and as it turns out, the line isn’t called that at all! (What?)

Apparently the line is going to be called “Marvel Infinite Series”. But whatever the line is called, the packaged images make it clear that that the figures are going to be pretty outstanding!
