When Bandai Tamashii Nations solicited their first Manga Realization figure in the spring–SH Figuarts Samurai Spider-Man–I was pretty lukewarm on that figure. “Spidey in samurai armor? That doesn’t make any sense! Why didn’t they just make Iron Man?!”

Funko is rolling out their list of exclusives in thrice-weekly announcements and Hasbro is expected to officially announce its San Diego Comic-Con 2016 exclusives next week (although at this point we all basically know what they are anyway), but in the meantime, a few other toy companies are filling in their own Comic-Con blanks. And this week, Beast Kingdom announced what’s likely to take the cake as the craziest SDCC 2016 exclusive of all: a 24K Gold Hulkbuster Iron Man figure!

Due to the fact that Play Imaginative basically took several years to release any of their super-cool Super Alloy Iron Man figures, there were many, many cancellations and few remaining collectors who ended up with their under-produced 6″ Super Alloy Iron Man Mark 42 figure. As a result, that 1/12 Mark XLII Iron Man figure has become quite rare these days. Due to being a complete repaint of Iron Man Mark 42, almost every Marvel toy company was able to cash in and get their Iron Man Mark 43 figure into collectors’ hands early last year. But one company that didn’t was Good Smile Company–because there was no Figma Mark XLII! But I guess GSC had decided that it’s better later than never, because both Figma Iron Man Mark 42 & Mark 43 are now up for order! Though we’re under a month away from the theatrical release of the Captain America: Civil War movie in theaters, we hadn’t heard a peep from Kotobukiya about any collectibles for the movie. At least, not until this week, when they revealed a pair of complementary statues. I don’t think there’s a Marvel collector in the world who’ll be truly surprised by the characters chosen, but these sure are nice-looking Captain America and Iron Man ARTFX+ statues!

While most of the merchandising companies out there manufacturing Marvel movie collectibles are now looking ahead to the future and “Captain America: Civil War”, I was taken aback a little bit this week when I saw that Medicom is actually looking backwards by soliciting an “Avengers: Age of Ultron” figure that’s arriving a wee bit late: the MAFEX Iron Man Mark 45 goes up for order this week! This figure really does look terrific and has a couple neat things in his favor, but he’s also late to the show and carrying a heavy price-tag…

After being one of the more expensive and sought-after Marvel Hot Toys sixth scale figures for years, the market has crashed on the Iron Man 2 War Machine MMS 120. That figure itself is still an excellent release, but the demand for that figure fell off a cliff after Hot Toys announced a die-cast version last month.
And now, the superior remake is officially on the way–the Hot Toys Iron Man 2 Die-Cast War Machine is now up for order!

As soon as Hot Toys revealed the Striker Iron Man sixth scale figure almost a full year ago, I started counting down the days until they announced its Jade Giant-inspired upgraded armor as a limited exclusive repaint (because let’s face it–there’s no way Hot Toys would skip out on a chance to release an awesome figure with no new tooling).
