One of my favorite lines of the year has been the exploding Marvel Gallery PVC statue series, and so the Diamond Select Toys Booth was among my first stops at New York Comic Con 2017. Traditionally, Bandai S.H. Figuarts Marvel figures haven’t had a presence at New York Comic Con (since prior to last year, Bandai didn’t have a license to sell Marvel figures in the United States at all). But things are different now from how they’ve been historically, and Bluefin Distibution brought along all of the upcoming U.S. Marvel Figuarts that are on the way—including the world premiere of Thor Ragnarok Figuarts Gladiator Hulk and Thor!

Kotobukiya has been teasing their next series of 1/10 Marvel ARTFX+ statues all year long, and at San Diego Comic Con 2017 in July they officially announced the new series would be the Defenders. As soon as that was confirmed, I had a hunch who would be leading off the line as the headliner, and it was verified today at NYCC 2017: the Kotobukiya Daredevil ARTFX+ Statue has now been revealed! And hey—it comes in black, too!

After today, I don’t think there’s any question about it: Spider-Verse is “the next big thing” as far as what’s coming down the pike for Marvel statues from Sideshow Collectibles! Not only did the red-hot Exclusive Spider-Gwen Statue with extra masked head go up for order, but the next two figures in the Spider-Verse statues series were revealed at New York Comic Con 2017: Silk and Spider-Man himself!

With New York Comic Con 2017 just two days away (I’m leaving for NYC tomorrow so that I can start coverage bright and early Thursday morning, by the way), you might have thought that we were done seeing major companies announce exclusives for the show (I sure did). But it looks like there was one company left with a rabbit (or spider) in its hat: ThreeA Toys! I’ve been to New York Comic Con every year since, well… ever… and I can’t recall Toys R Us ever having a booth at the show—much less exclusives. But I suppose there’s a first time for everything, and that time is now!
